Led Zeppelin II
Led ZeppelinAbsolute classic, many of the tracks were in the set list for years. Still has lots of energy more than 50 years after its release.

Sounds like an inferior Thin Lizzy. It has its place and I can understand immature young men enjoying its energy. I found its lack of melody annoying.
The overall impression is of protest, it isn’t music. Some of the backing tracks could sound good with some music played over the top. The shouting was unintelligible and apart from encouraging aggression makes no discernible political points. It might be that I cannot appreciate the genre but I thought it was just noisy shouty rubbish.
Great songs, I’d never appreciated how good they were. Neil Young has a talent for writing but singing has never been his strong point. Don’t let it put you off, it’s a great album.
Soothing Jazz perfect for setting a relaxed ambiance. Good for background, not an album that got me very involved.
A good album, but feels of an era, I’m surprised how dated it feels. A couple of bangers but not as exciting as Muse’s earlier endeavours. It could be that overproduction ruined the overall feel of the album.
Challenging but came through in the end. Large soundscapes on some tracks. Music to absorb rather than dance to.

Great intro, the AC/DC sound is relentless throughout the album. A few crowd pleasers, but the overall feel gets monotonous.
Was nostalgic when released in 1968, but sounds very dated in 2025. A snapshot of a lost time but no longer relevant, seems very dated. I didn’t really enjoy it as an album, individual songs are good but it’s best consumed in small doses.
The first three tracks are excellent including an absolute classic. The rest of the album I can take or leave, very boring. It almost feels like two different bands. (There were enough members in the band perhaps it was) If the Album was only three tracks long it would have scored 5 Stars.
Not Metallica’s best, the rhythm section is to quiet. It’s missing the drive and energy that you associate with the band. The album demonstrates the skill of all the members but the mix lets it down.
I wasn’t looking forward to listening to this album, it’s not my normal choice of genre. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The album creates a mellow atmosphere that washes over the listener and leaves them feeling chilled and relaxed.
Nothing wrong with it but very bland. It’s probably too sophisticated for my taste. At one point I forgot that the album was playing which shows how stimulating the music was. After listening to this I put on a Spotify mellow mix to liven things up. Not for me.
Some good cover versions, but sounded a bit dated. Good songs well performed.
Made at a time when even “pop stars” could play their own instruments and were recorded with minimal manipulation. The stripped down sound gives the album energy and authenticity. Compared to the homogeneous , sampled, overproduced “perfection” that is marketed in these more enlightened times this album comes out on top every time. Pop songs, interspersed with bluesy guitar makes for a good mix. Classic!
It was like spending a rainy Sunday afternoon at your grannies. I am nearly 70 and this sounded dated to me! Absolute dirge my most hated sort of music.
If I’m feeling happy and enjoying life, this is the perfect album to shatter my good mood and bring me back to despair. Powerful but ultimately depressing, if music is to create emotion it is very successful but not very uplifting. Perhaps cathartic would be the best way to describe it.
I think this album was intended to appeal to the American market. Fortunately I’m not American. One or two good track interspersed with dirge. If I had it as vinyl on my shelf I wouldn’t get out of my chair to put it on.
This album was a lull between the raw energy of Zeppelin albums 1 & 2 and the absolute banger that was Zeppelin 4. Although not as accomplished as the other 3 albums it still contains classic tracks. It goes to show how brilliant Led Zeppelin were that this album could be seen as a dip in form, it’s still a bloody good album.
I had forgotten that Rod Stewart used to be able to sing. This was from a time before he sold out and went commercial. The album feels as though it was played live and the vocals are raw and powerful, much better than his later “top of the pops” era.
Music is good, lyrics are clever but as usual Morrissey’s vocals are challenging. I find it distracting and unnecessary. Otherwise a good album.
A sonic treat, I had never really listened to spiritualised. I don’t know if it will seem less enjoyable after several listenings. But I enjoyed it on first hearing. I will investigate their canon of work further.
A good album from a forgotten time, raunchy riffs and solos. Modern music might have faster tempos and more polished production but it doesn’t have the energy and feeling that a lot of theses older albums have. It felt as though the band were playing live to the listener. No homogenising just raw talent and passion.
This album inspired a whole genre of music. It’s hard to describe the effect this music had when released over 50 years ago. An absolute classic, great drummer, superb bassist and one of the guitar gods. It’s sounds harsh but Ozzy was probably the weakest member of the band. And he became a legend! A great listen half a century after release and still inspiring new musicians to take things forward.
Good honest rock and roll.
A much better Album than I remembered. Some really good songs, full of rage and emotion. The shouty lady did well.
An evolutionary album where all 4 individuals started to explore their own music. Some classic songs mixed with experimental tunes that are mostly successful. Very influential to future artists.
I never used to like Johnny cash. I still don’t I could never see the appeal of out of tune singing and dreary lyrics. Waste of time listening to it. It must have been bad enough being in jail, it was nothing short of cruelty making them listen to this.
Couldn’t review, not available on Spotify.
I thought this was bland and inoffensive, there was little to keep me interested. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t excite me in any meaningful way.
Not my normal choice of music but you could feel the emotion in billie Holiday’s voice. It was like being bathed in honey or being given a warm hug. Exceptional.
A great soundscape with a few hits that propel this album to heights seldom reached by “pop groups”. A very accomplished album, Tears for Fears were marketed as 80’s pop idols to compete with the likes of Duran Duran and Culture Club. This album proves that they are musically far superior to the shallow offerings of their contemporaries.
A half decent collection of singles and cover versions. Tina Turner was a dynamic live performer but this album was rubbish.
