All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Oct 11 2025

What started as a slight dismay turned quickly into a rabbit hole dive into the wild unapologetically chaotic, hypocritical and somber yet hopeful in the face of the apocalypse experience that is Slipknot. The opening of the album immediately grips my attention with the distortion of ‘.execute’ then continues on into ‘Gematria’ with ‘Sulfur’ immediately being one of if not my favorite songs on the album. I’d be lying though if I said the intensity of the album dragged on a bit too long with me personally losing momentum for the album after the song ‘dead memories’. However, after getting to ‘This Cold Black’ I was quickly brought back in with ‘Wherein lies Continue’. Unfortunately the landing for me of this album really stuck with ‘Child of Burning Time’ rather than ‘Psychosocial-live’ or ‘Vermilion, pt.2-bloodstone mix’. So to say I was a fan of the albums ending would be a lie. Overall this album gets me hyped to uncover more of Slipknot’s past discography. However, I don’t think they’ve completely won me over as a fan to anticipate their future bodies of work.
