Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Dec 05 2025

An explosive opener with date with the night. In 2003, as a first introduction to the band, really sets the tone. I remember the year this was released, MTV did an online contest where you had to draft artists as a record producer in a fantasy football-style contest. The higher your artist charted IRL, the more points you got. Foolishly picked the yeah yeahs as my number one because it was one of the few indie or rock artists that was new and doing something that sounded so good. Obviously, they had staying power but let's just say I did not win the contest. My favorite Karen O is when she is shrieking/barking. Stylistically, though, it's not my favorite sound sustained through an album, this has highs and lows for me. Obviously maps is going to show up on best of lists all the time.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Dec 08 2025

I discovered Parliament as a child by watching the movie PCU. So like, funk wasn't an integral part of my childhood. But I learned to play bass as a teenager and loved being exposed to funk. Parliament is like the band in the genre that I would recommend to most people looking for something new to listen to.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Dec 12 2025

Really thown by the track arrangement here; was excited to see 10 songs, 35 minutes, awesome. Then, like 7 minutes into runaway child, running wild I realized my assumption that I'd be hearing something classic, digestible, wasn't going to pan out.

Transformer by Lou Reed
Dec 17 2025

Ughhh, goddammit, I'm a hipster. 5/5, an incredible, influential album. Growing up listening to skatepunk and going to DIY shows at fire halls and rec centers, essentially backed my way into appreciating this. Of it's course it's a top album.

Microshift by Hookworms
Dec 19 2025

This was fine enough to put on and listen to while I was working; I didn't know them before and I probably won't seek them out again when I have other things that I already like that are kind of in this space.

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Dec 22 2025

A SEMINAL album for me. Rating 5/5 now, before listening, I've already played this end to end many many times. Discovered pink floyd in 9th grade after buying a vinyl 'wish you were here's at a yard sale for $1. Jumped quickly to the wall because of the film, and love the follow up final cut that's so thematically tied to it. I love the cyclical nature of this album so much. The build to jarring, so many good transitions. This really set the tone to my 14 year old brain, as far as what an album *could* be and it's a high standard.

Faith by George Michael
Dec 25 2025
The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Dec 29 2025

Influential, obviously, there are times where I just found myself drawn into the beat and flow of what was happening; it just didn't age well for me, personally.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Dec 30 2025

None of my favorite Dylan songs on this one, obviously a classic, 'Iwant you' is a standout.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Jan 05 2026

Pre-Listening: oh great, another album that I have listened to, but not for like two decades! Looking forward to revisiting.

Kid A by Radiohead
Jan 13 2026
Grace by Jeff Buckley
Feb 02 2026
American Idiot by Green Day
Feb 03 2026

Maybe it's the nostalgia, maybe it's the frustration with the current state of fascist America governance, but I'm this is a five-star album. And by the time this was released, I was pretty firmly into local DIY punk and hardcore scenes, so this wouldn't have been big on my radar, outside of the obvious hits.

Bright Flight by Silver Jews
Feb 05 2026

Silver Jews is a top 10 band for me. And time will break. The world is one of my favorite songs; it was a joy to spend time listening to this full album, it's short, it's tight, 5/5 for sure b

1999 by Prince
Feb 10 2026
The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Feb 16 2026

Ew, morrisey. You're not getting my stream-pennies. There are so many good covers of smith songs, plus johnny marr solo work that I'll listen to before I support morrisey..

Garbage by Garbage
Feb 17 2026

A really solid album, I was surprised how the lead-in to super vixen, the first track, came right back to me. I probably haven't listened to this full album since it came out, but a lot of it holds up. My preference now is for a tighter experience, so I'd probably skip a few consistently

Scum by Napalm Death
Mar 05 2026

Man, me 20 years ago was really into this. I hear the influence and appreciate it. 28 songs in 33 minutes? This was an incredible back-to-back with the previous day's album, nine songs at 1H 06.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Mar 13 2026

It's a compilation, so they were really able to curate this one; strong start, VERY GOOD ending. There are a lot of classic Dusty songs here.

Abbey Road by Beatles
Mar 17 2026

I want to find the Beatles overrated. Because they were so big and popular and when I was younger, I generally equated that with people that I didn't care for or about. But goddamn this album is good. I've really expanded what I've listened to since I was a teenager, and I've listened to a good amount of The Beatles and this is obviously some of their best. In my mind, the grouping of golden slumbers/ carry that weight/ the end is the best Beatles run.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Apr 10 2026

There are some classics on here, it's just not my jam for a full albums worth of listening IMO

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Apr 13 2026
Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
May 18 2026

I think thin Lizzy is very talented and underrated. It's a live album, which can be made or broken by the banter in between songs- - this one is fine.

Kimono My House by Sparks
May 29 2026

I do like some songs by Sparks; I just struggled to stay engaged through a full album

War by U2
Jun 01 2026
OK Computer by Radiohead
Jun 30 2026

This was the first fully album I was truly obsessed with - I listened to this so many times, it's masterful imo

Hejira by Joni Mitchell
Jul 01 2026
Jul 16 2026

I actually expected to like this more and rate it higher, based on people I know that are really into young Rod Stewart. But it just didn't do it for me
