Full of classic songs, that I've heard many times, but never listened to in album format. A really fun listen for my amtrak ride.
Enjoyed the vibes - felt too same same for me to really love it on first listen, but parts of it really grabbed me. Will definetly revisit & give it a closer listen. I expect it will grow on me.
I usually say "I don't like country" but this was the type of country I can get down with. Dolly has so many known songs, and so many albums I haven't known where to begin. Nice to hear how she tells a story across the album.
Loved the different vibes on the first half vs the second! The horns, the layers, the production all blew me away & I felt like dancing. It was a littttttle long, but thoroughly enjoyed.
Very specific style of music but reminded me of my mother and felt nostalgic. I enjoyed the listen but probably won’t return to it frequently.
All the holiday classics that you hear every year. Has a limited scope of when you can listen to this (on Christmas Day, like when I was generated this album). Ranking a little lower since its holiday specific music.
Really pleasant listen, complex instrumentals. Not my favorite Pink Floyd.
A cool listen, could feel the art school - felt pieces of the Clash, pieces of Lou Reed but a little more pop. Might need a few listens to grow on me. The type of music I love from my peers but is a little harder to get into when its a few generations older than me.
Fun to listen, found myself dancing. I have a prior relationship with a lot of these songs that I can’t kick, but overall liked it more than i expected.
Cool to explore a new genre and music from a country I haven't explored. Enjoyed the sound but it felt repetitive after a while.
Not my favorite. No really stand out songs for me, and very same same.
I really enjoyed this! Lots of classic rock references and riffs. Loved the songs cowritten by Lisa Bonet.
Incredible album. Every song is unskippable. Full of classics, but a few lesser known gems (to me), and a great listen all the way through. I loved it so much I listened to it again right after finishing.
This has been a favorite for a long time. It transports me back to high school photography class when I listen to it. I haven’t heard the whole thing in full recently so some songs that would have dragged were nice to hear again. A classic and getting a higher rating for the nostalgia factor.
Not for me. Wasn't bad music, just a little avent garde for my typical listening. Cool to hear old electronic music and learn more about it.
I've never been the biggest Pink Floyd fan (controversial, I know), but this has some really incredible songs. You can hear how the Beatles specifically had a huge influence on parts of this album, and how Pink Floyd in turn influenced a generation of music. A classic for a reason. This is between a 4 and a 5 for me. I'll give it a 5 for now, since I'm early into this project.
A little long, and a little gospel-y at times, but some real bangers mixed in, and generally enjoyed the ride.
okay YES - this was such a great listen! I've always loved Give Up the Funk, but this was like expanding that feeling to a full album. A new favourite.
I opted for the shorter 'best of' because there was no way I was making it through three hours. I enjoyed the songs, but I grew a little tired of it by the end... and this wasn't even the long version. I think point knock for the length, point knock for being a little dull. But Ella, I love you, just in smaller doses, and perhaps a different era of Ella.
I went into this one blind and was plesantly surprised - have heard a few of these songs before, and cool to hear what I'm guessing is a precursor to Brit Pop. I hear Oasis in the vocals, maybe just the accent, or Liam was inspired by Happy Monday.
This might become a 5 for me long term, for now its a strong 4.
I've seen this album everywhere, but never actually put it on to listen.
The concept is an A+. I gave it a first listen and liked the vibe, but it's not totally my thing. A second listen deepened my understanding and made me love it more.
I'm giving this a 5 because I love that it exists. I don't know that I'm going to listen to this on repeat, its a little long. But I see myself returning, and the love of it growing.
Loved it. So fun & gets a little more rock than I realized.
Parts of this I love, parts of it are a little too Age of Aquarius for me.
Mainly it goes on a little too long, and gets a little too hippie.
The folk leans Irish Folk music, which I really enjoy, even though I know the band is English. The story telling and the instrumentation is really cool.
Uhhhh, yes please! Back to back perfect.
Holy David Bowie vibes. I could tell Bowie was part of this before even reading it on wikipedia. I have always loved the hits from this album, but after hearing it all, I loved it all. Turn Blue was a little weird, possibly some race issues in there for a modern audience... but overall something I will think about for a long time.
I appreciate having a much shorter Stevie Wonder album this time. I loved this! A few made me really emotional, and the popular songs really fit into the album well rather than standing out.
Cool, and could see this growing on me. But not something I see myself turning to again and again.
Loved it, but turns into background music after a little while.
I really enjoy this album in the first half. Back half got a little sappy for me, and not my typical genre of music I connect to.
not as good as the original
great opening song - the rest was good vibes but didn't break through to me beyond that.
Really enjoyed this - gave me a nostalgic folk, Bob Dylan feeling.
Love the spoken word tracks.
First song is a classic, always hits.
The commentary is a great way of moving the story line along.
The classic Eminem humor lands really well with me.
Vibey and cool - not what I imagined having heard the name Steely Dan many times but not listened to the music befofe.
not my favorite band - voice is a little grating and whiny for my tastes.
Such clear connection to so many artists I love - talking heads, Bowie. But can hear the past influence as well, the Beatles in particular. I respect this being so important but seeing there are four more Brian Eno plus some Roxy Music coming up I think I will revisit to compare the whole discography.
album won me over in the first moments. feels like i'm in almost famous. transports me to an era I love .
the that 70s show theme song??
so many classic songs, hard to have anything bad to say at all
this was only ever going to be five stars
surprised myself enjoying this as much as i did. this is the era of rap i grew up with, so that might be part of it. has great melodies and choruses.
sort of like the police in that... i like this sound, in small doses. too much of this sound is annoying.
Went into this with no idea what to expect. Its a little much for me - I love experimental music, and some of the sounds were interesting. But not something I can see myself enjoying casually (or at all, I had to turn this one off).
A nostalgic album that still makes me excited to listen. Can't believe this is what their first release was, its so well put together.
Cool listen! Isn’t something I’ll return to.
As a certified tumblr girl, I love Lorde’s Royals. This album was nice, full of pop bangers, but wasn’t anything special for me. Just didn’t hit the more ironic earnestness I like, instead just pure earnest.
A little long. Not my favourite blues on this list so far.
I have such a weird love of 2000s rap / hip hop
A modern classic for a reason. But personally, Oasis wins.
The hits are incredible masterpieces. The ballads pain me a little. Stereotypically 80s.
Good background music, enjoyed it all. Curious how I'll rank it after hearing all the Sonic Youth albums on this list.
Really enjoyed the live / spoken / teaching aspects of the album. Happy to have listened to this. The songs weren't totally for me in album form.
It’s clear why La Grange is their biggest hit. Its the most catchy of the lot while the rest are great but more unassuming.
Nice to have in the background. Some stand outs but didn't grip me from front to back.
Now this, is my kind of album.
Kept thinking I was listening to his biggest hit Cars. The whole album is basically an extended version of that song... which at times was enjoyable, at times a little repetitive, but mostly, a good time!
The soundtrack of my childhood, my parents worked on a Tommy production when they first met. Not my favorite Who album but I respect the concept and generally enjoyed.
Enjoyed more than I expected! Really cool sounds and a well put together album
lovely to listen to, non-offensive and beautifully composed
I listen to jazz only a few times a year. I love it live, I love it around the holidays. This was a great jazz album, but I miss the lyrics of vocal jazz when they aren’t there.
Great songs! Some a little longer than they needed to be, but really fun and full of iconic riffs.
Loved it, not my fave Queens of the Stone Age album but its my style of music for sure.
Another one my parents love, and I enjoyed for a while but just a little too long with a very unique voice
love this album forever and ever, the best madchester band in my opinion
Great album, led with a song I adore. A little dull in the middle, but early Coldplay vibes and I like it.
okay okay, this is the kind of hiphop i like
Some classics that I didn’t realize I knew
Fun early 2000s indie vibes. Can hear their influence on a lot of bands I like, but not blowing me out of the water fully.
too sad girl for me, never got into this band and this reminded why. their top hit from this album is like a 4, but the rest of it is kinda meh
Back to back perfect songs. This is a top ten album of all time for me.
Really beautiful, some high points that I loved (Kamikaze!). The Thom Yorke songs didn't totally do it for me, felt like they should have just been on a Radiohead album.
Highly regarded, and stood up to that reputation!
Didn’t hold up for me, after the first song.
