Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Dec 30 2025

I really enjoyed listening to the 2013 remaster with lossless audio. Definitely a better experience than the radio version. It's a solid album, and I understand why it's here. Gets a little lyrically repetitive but I feel like that's a reggae thing?

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Dec 31 2025

Quiet horses is clearly very repetitive lyrically, but with all the vocalizing and different pronunciations, and styles to the same words gives a variation you wouldn't ever expect from reading the lyrics. The fact this is a number one charting right out the gate is impressive. Love the minimalist percussion and simple yet full music that results. Blue ridge mountains is probably my favorite track. It transports me back to the lonely little campground in Tennesse.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jan 01 2026

Rambling and sloppy doesn't do it justice. Parts of this were hard to listen to. I understand why this is here and it's impact on music. I like some of their hits but nothing on this album makes me want to party or dance. Seems like the schlitz of rock n roll. Like I didn't drink schlitz riding around in a pickup truck, but I'm sure my dad did and I'd bet this album was in the tape deck.

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Jan 02 2026

There's several tracks on here that I love, but I much prefer other versions of than this album. The quality is muddy and buzzy and it's not as fun as it used to be.

Hotel California by Eagles
Jan 03 2026

The last two albums being Jimi Hendrix proceeded by the rolling stones, really puts this album in perfect lighting. It's like starting a gnarly greyed rock rolling at the top of a hill and finding a perfectly polished gemstone at the bottom. Taking a new music genre and polishing it to perfection is what the eagles did with their run, and it all lead up to Hotel California. I can hear my dad drumming along on the steering wheel and softly singing when this album cuts on. They put in the work to get here and earned the accolades. Classic rock at its absolute best.

Chelsea Girl by Nico
Jan 04 2026

This is a great little folk rock album out of the 60s that could've just as easily nestled right into the folk revival of the 2010s. Something about her German accent really makes my ears happy. Steeped in the cultural zitgiest of the 60s, this is a keeper for sure.

Jan 05 2026

No notes. Live recording at its perfection. Transports me to a time and place I've never been. Amazing.

Jan 06 2026

I'm contractually obligated to give this album 5 stars. 2 years after this album, and one year after stonewall they drop a trans anthem. The big sky is amazing. Much more tight and less buzzy than other rock albums of the time, all while maintaining a rambling and psychedelic vibe. Totally radical dude.

Mask by Bauhaus
Jan 07 2026

I don't know how... But I'm certain my dad shagged to this album, that weirdo. This is great and fun and so 80s. Hollow hills is exceptionally 90s for 1980. Could've been a cover on nevermind, as is, and would fit right in.

British Steel by Judas Priest

London Calling by The Clash
Jan 14 2026

This is not what I expected, but in such a wonderful way. I've never resonated more than with these lyrics "I'm lost in the super market, I can no longer shop happily, I was promised personality.

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Jan 16 2026

Leonard Cohen composes his own funeral album. Not for me, but it's beautiful.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Jan 17 2026

This is what I'm here for. How'd I miss this? That being said, Canada and California being better than Spain in summer has got to be a hot take even in 1971

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
Jan 20 2026

They really let any white dude with LSD and an iota of talent into the studio in the 60s.

Sister by Sonic Youth
Jan 21 2026
Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Jan 22 2026

That was interesting. I liked some of the tracks, didn't hate it.

Arrival by ABBA
Jan 23 2026

If you remaster an album 5 times maybe it was just bad? Let's not kiss the teacher. Dancing queen and Fernando are the only stand outs for me. I think that more has to do with forced familiarity from 90s and 2000s radio. I could do without this and not be missing anything. It doesnt get me on my feet, I'm not feeling anything, mostly borring pop done well.

Moon Safari by Air
Jan 24 2026

I started listening to electronic music in 2010 and they were right that it peaked in the 90s. I was wrong.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jan 25 2026

Solid album from a great band. Really shocked I had never heard student demonstration time.

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Jan 28 2026

It was just alright for me. I've heard they're better in concert.

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Jan 29 2026

This is pretty dang great for a posthumous album.

I really want to like this but I just don't.

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden
Feb 03 2026

If you haven't seen 28 years later: bone temple, and you are a metal head. You need to drop what you're doing and go see it right now. The scene with the number of the beast track is amazing. I love this band. I saw them live in 2025 and they still rock so fucking hard.

I don't know what this dude is moaning about and I honestly don't care. Boring. Why are we whisper singing? I hate this.

Repeater by Fugazi
Feb 13 2026

Where is the line between punk and metal played poorly?

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Feb 17 2026
Feb 18 2026

Surprisingly amazing. Pushes all my country buttons. Let's hop in the pickup, down a bud light or 20 and shine some whitetail.

Headquarters by The Monkees
Feb 20 2026

I really thought zilch was like a sketch from bobs burgers and thought my phone was broken. This isn't bad, but crazy that it's their only album they wrote and performed on. Like all the other albums are written by someone else and performed by session musicians. I think maybe they're a big influence for t Swift.

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Feb 21 2026

Look I'm not saying that there are not exceptions to the "don't give the drummer a microphone" rule, I'm just saying you can't use this album in the pro column for Dave grohl.

The Message by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
Feb 22 2026
Stankonia by OutKast
Feb 23 2026

I really really want to give this album 5 stars. And I would if we removed many of the repetitive hooks. I get a couple times in-between verses or a couple times to close this out. But some of the hooks are more than half the song. Even if the beat and melody took some variation in these it'd be fine. As is I get bored.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Feb 24 2026

White lady tries to do rb/soul/Motown is only successful because it's 64 and she is white as fuck. It's nothing special. She didn't even write much of it. Very short. Unimaginative.

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch
