I get it. It’s just so loud. Not for me.
I know them, but didn’t know a single song on the album. But it was good!
I’ve never heard of this artist. I danced my way through Genesis but never ever ever ever ever want to hear Let There Be Light or Waters of Nazareth again. Ever.
Stress…was stressful. Which I guess is the point but whyyyyy would you want to listen to that as music? 😩
I had to fight pretty hard against fast forwarding some of the songs.
There were a few four star moments. But there were more negative four star moments…and sometimes both existed in the same song.
If I could rate this zero stars I would. Instead I rate it 👵🏼👵🏼👵🏼👵🏼👵🏼
Love. Faves are Kid, Mystery Achievement, and of course, the iconic Brass in Pocket which is the perfect hype song.
Started off strong obvs, but then kind of faded a bit. Not sure if there is more than one Prince album on this list, but I would pick Purple Rain over 1999

Some of the songs (and singing) were off putting, but damn this man can turn a phrase. When I got to “Frank’s Wild Years” I stopped, went back to the first song, and listened and read the lyrics for each song. Heartbreaking album which I can totally see as a play. Favorites are “Johsnsburg, Illinois”, “Rainbirds”, and “Frank’s Wild Years” (RIP Carlos 🤣). Extra star for originality even though it’s not really my thing.
Ugh I love Radiohead and this is my favorite album of theirs. “Everything In It’s Right Place” is an all time favorite song in general. Other highlights for me are “How to Disappear Completely”, “Optimistic”, and “Untitled”. Truly a masterpiece as far as I’m concerned. A billion trillion stars.
I’ve been wanting to check out the xx so this was perfect timing. Definitely an album I think I’d like with repeated listening.

I’m not a fan of Richard Thompson, so at first I was like 😩. But as I listened I was like maybe this isn’t so bad. But as the album went on I was like meh.
This was a fun one
Too Loud™️. But an extra star because it’s the Pixies, and an extra star for “Where is My Mind?”.
Any album on the 1001 albums you should listen to before you die list that mentions Wawa gets an extra star. Favorites include “Cold Beverages”, of course.

With some of these albums I wonder if my rating would be different if I was hearing it for the first time and didn’t have such a nostalgic connection to it.
This was made to listen to on a Friday or Saturday night rather than a Tuesday morning before work.
I had no idea that Gangster’s Paradise was practically a cover of a Stevie Wonder song!
Faves include As, Sir Duke, I Wish, and Black Man. I can’t include Isn’t She Lovely bc the baby crying creeps me out 🤷🏻♀️

I knew it was coming. While I respect their place and influence on the music world, I’m not a fan.
A 90 minute two part live album? No! 😩 I love seeing live music, but I hate listening to a live recording.
Another man. Sigh. I did enjoy a bunch of the acoustic songs in the middle of the second album.
This was such a surprise. Never heard of her in my life. Campy, dramatic, over the top, crazy lyrics, weird music…I loved it.
So surprised that I only know one song on a Led Zeppelin double album. 🤷🏻♀️
Sigh. Honestly who is deciding these are on a list of albums you should listen to before you die? An extra star bc this album legit had some interesting sounds.

I feel like every time I hear another mediocre artist consisting of British white men I deduct another star.
An extra star for something very different got cancelled out by a star subtraction for every song being so repetitive. You’re going to have seven minute song averages and then give me almost nothing new five minutes in?
65 albums in (6%) and we finally have an album that is more in line with what I thought this experience wood be like. Recognizable, loved, and most songs are known or at the very least familiar. Also, extra points for half the band being female.
This was so cool and weird! Favorites include Deer Stop and Felt Mountain, which I swear is either familiar to something else or it was used in a show or movie or something and it’s driving me crazy that I can’t place it.
Three songs in and I’ve heard everything I needed to hear.
