1001 Albums Summary

Rush albums should be taught as great literature.

This is a good one to hear again. It is different than other Beatles fare, but it is a culturally iconic album.

This is a classic. So good. Anthem for the late 70s.

A masterclass album!

I am not the biggest Metallica fan, but this album blends the classic with the evolving metal of the late 80s so well!!!

I am not a fan of Guns N' Roses, but I know and understand what important shifts in music mean in genres, and this album represents a shift in metal...and also the end of a golden era of metal. Metallica and Guns N' Roses produced their best music in the late 80s at the right time. Any later, and it would have been a wash (Metallica would be the only true survivor).

Breakthrough album that I personally believe was one of the key albums that helped usher in the change in music in the 1990s.

Not bad...had some decent cuts but personally not one of my faves. However, I do appreciate how well the group responded to changes in the members.

I did not get through all of this, but a little 60s bossa nova never hurt anyone!

Simply. Excellent.

Oh mercy. This is the standard for "old school hip-hop. It tackled the urban issues head-on while having some of the strongest beats of the day. Also, The Message remains the standard for conscious rap and opened the door for generations of future talent.

Five stars. All day. Moving Pictures introduced me to Rush and I never looked back (except to listen to all the previous albums Rush put out). Arguably their best album (my personal favorite, edging out Permanent Waves and ahead of Signals). It did not hurt that I was taking honors English and suddenly every lyric made even more sense each month in those classes. Great with or without metaphorical context.

In terms of rap, there is so much better. Did he have some time relevant rap culture relevant bars? Yeah, but head down the road to Kendrick...and see what happens when rap matures.

Tina stunned us all with this album. Not only was it good, but perhaps it was Tina's BEST WORK overall. The entire presentation was excellent. Her Private Dancer concert? One of my all-time favorites. This is a MUST LISTEN for anyone who loves R&B, soul, pop.

While John Lennon was talented, Paul McCartney and Wings was the best overall 70s pop from the Beatles…in my opinion. Lennon made one think, and we are all grateful…but Wings gave the 70s a little separation from the mess.
