1001 Albums Summary

Immigrant Song is iconic in its own right, followed by some tonal shifts with Friends and Celebration Day. Out On The Tiles is great, but Since I’ve Been Loving You goes at least three minutes longer than it should. Gallows Pole stands out with its roots of old English folk music. Overall, a solid first album on this long journey!

Look, I’m not a jazz guy, never have, never will. I can however, appreciate the significance of Monk and what he stood for at the time. Unfortunately, for me personally, it never switches out of first gear, though the drums are spectacular in places like Bemsha Swing.

I’ve never heard of Joni Mitchell, and it seems I’ll have to listen to some more of her stuff to get a good basis of what she was about.

For a debut album, it hits the standard of what it was trying to achieve

Time to feel the funk! Head bobbing along with pretty much every single tune on this 7 track album. Highly entertaining.

Haven’t heard Laura Nyro before, and I can’t say i’m thrilled to have heard of her now

Is it overplayed? Yes. Is it iconic? Also yes.

Never really listened to The Who, but I’m definitely missing out on what was a very solid album
