1001 Albums Summary

I already know that I like Simon & Garfunkel very much, though oddly have never listened to this album through. I imagine it will be a delight. Very warm, moves around difficult things about life and love with curiosity.

Funky jazz instrumentals, soul chorus vocals not my thing. Particular love for City, Country, City.

Opens with Beetlebum so we already know this one bangs. Surprised to see I don't recognise a lot of the track listings however!! Yeah good in the end

I am not a big ballad listener. Adele has a lovely voice and is a great songwriter. Instrumentals are slightly royalty free however.

I love u David Byrne

Running Dry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I will have to give this one 5* just because Neil Young wonderful, but acknowledge this is not going on my desert island discs any time soon. I do think i prefer The Byrds' cover of cowgirl in the sand

Yeah I need to listen to more Leonard Cohen. Avalanche was a really strong start immediately :0 Holy moly Dress Rehearsal Rag Bangs

Never listened to Muslim devotional music before. Positive experience overall, similar energy to like,,, listening to choir boys at a cathedral but much more danceable. I appreciate it as music but it is quite clearly religious in a way that means this isn't going on my current listening.

solid

Yup it's Elvis

Bowie can be a bit wanky bit this was expecially good from him

Yep, it's Rod Stewart.

Felt slightly parodical of New Orleans but I guess that's just how it is there

recording quality is !!! awful !!! early stage stereo audio nonsense. I guess someone had to do it first. Lou Reed's writing is really lovely though. The sort of album that should exist in a gallery

Pretty good, a bit long

She is so lovely and this album really speaks to that. Musically lyrically not for me

god awful. unlistenable.

I love sad grungy music. So many excellent songs on this one.

Lovely listening experience all through, thoughtful track listing. Like a musical collage

Super cheese. Evokes middle aged male divorcé who felt most himself at 17.

All hits, I love sad people music. Through line for the album was a little one note.

Not bad. Probably wouldn't listen through again.

Sorry I just can't do it

Listened twice through. Would listen again. Potentially for a couple of hours. Hardly notice the loop but not upset when I do. Very pleasant music I will cook dinner in an apron with a glass of wine.

It's good

All country artists should be aspiring to these three.

So firmly rooted in White American suburbia, nuclear family, and a bizarro obsession with being a teenager, but otherwise a sort of music that to me is always so fun.

superb

Don't have great Madonna knowledge but still this was surprising. Good, slightly trip-poppy, not super my thing but cool nonetheless

Yeah i mean it's good.

Layla does unfortunately blow the rest of this album out of the water.

Solid 👍

I like em

Whole album of songs that sound like they were designed to exist as random soundtrack items for boring indie movies.

There's some gems on here; in my time of dying, trampled under foot, kashmir, in the light. Enough great songs but i wouldn't listen through again

Everyone starts somewhere. Would probably listen again.

good example of that sort of lofi electro pop that was abundant in the late 2010s. Is not doing anything particularly special or interesting though.

I just really like these guys

It's fun and it's creative. Almost like a mixed media album. I like to feel like artists have a good time creating their art & this feels like one of those. Stanley Unwin is true old man humour that I haven't quite caught on to though.

super cool. bit long

party fr

can't cope with chug all night but otherwise bangs. More banjo

Queen are not my cup of tea but I recognise they are good. This album was incredibly Queen.

I appreciate the production was good, and again I love a narrative album. The misogyny throughout was hard to get past, though. Ultimately, this was not made for me & that's ok, I just don't get on with it.

Weird. Up and down on quality but there is something about experimental noise music that vibes with my brain.
