Great listen. I was surprised by the quality of the recording, and how much younger BB King sounded than in other stuff I'd heard by him. A great live album.
Some really great songs with really interesting synth/keys but also some schlocky stuff. Stevie's voice sounds great as always. The highs outweigh the lows for sure.
To me, the quintessential Radiohead album. Been a huge fan since it was released. A really solid mix of tight, upbeat, guitar-forward rock and ethereal/experimental melodrama. No skips.
Not really my cup of tea, but certainly feels of its time. I lack the context to know whether this album was especially influential., though I know some of the songs are hallmarks of late 60s counterculture. I'm not that into the harmonies or the instrumentals. Reminds me of the Doors, whom I also don't really care for.
Really enjoyed this. I knew the first two tracks but hadn't heard the rest of the album. Will definitely give it a few more spins.
My introduction to Blur; my mom got me the CD when I was in 5th grade after I heard Song 2 on the radio. It was a bit sonically advanced for me at that age so I didn't really get into the album until I was an adult and became a more holistic Blur fan. I really like the album now and can feel it getting a bit experimental - foreshadowing Gorillaz. It drags a bit toward the end but overall it's a solid spin.
I really liked this. Pink Floyd kinda kicks ass. I really appreciate the Shine On suites.
Probably my favorite album by Bowie, the one I find the best overall album from start to finish. The singles are great, of course. Moonage Daydream is also one of my very favorites.
A nice collection of songs, though doesn't feel as essential an album as other Bowie records. Golden Years is an all time favorite though.
I of course knew the song Deceptacon but had never listened to this record. Really great, tight album. Very digestible. I played it twice in a row and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really dig the songwriting and the punkish electro instrumentals.
Ehh. Trying to be subjective here. Seems like a tight, cohesive album overall. I like the instrumentals a lot even though I'm not a big country fan. I really don't care for the vocals, personally. This feels well executed, but not my cup of tea.
Wow, this is great. I listened twice in a row. What lovely songwriting and instrumentals. I'm embarrassed I only knew two of Nick Drake's songs before today; I should have explored his albums sooner. I feel a lot his influence in more contemporary music that I love, especially Belle and Sebastian.
Really enjoyed this. Great golden age of hip hop production and rhymes. Funny to consume Flavor Flav as a serious artist but he and Chuck D made a great pair.
What can I say about this album that hasn't already been said? It's a perfect album. This was the first Madonna album I listened to, having only known some of her singles prior to this. The production, mixing, songwriting, vocals - everything is incredible. Easily her best album.
Love the vocals and the neo soul vibes. I dig this era of music, though this album gets a bit schlocky toward the end.
Really liked this. I had heard of Jurassic 5 but never listened to them. It's weird how they're classified as "alternative" hip hop when really it just sounds like old school hip hop. In any case I really liked the rhymes and the production.
Solid album, just not totally my jam. I think the vocals are the low point. Also not huge on the honky tonk sounding piano. But I recognize that it's a well crafted and consistent album holistically.
Phenomenal album from my favorite Beatle. So many good songs. Favorites are Wah-Wah, What Is Life, I Dig Love. But love them all, including the jams at the end.
Very enjoyable. I had never heard their early stuff, so I didn't realize it was less upbeat/dance focused than the stuff I'm familiar with. Reminds me a lot of Air, which is a good thing.
My second favorite band of all time; I'm intimately familiar with this record. I think it's generally considered their best work, and it has some of my favorite songs by them, but I like a few other albums better (Boy With the Arab Strap and Fold Your Hands Child appeal more to me, personally). But I've had a long time to sit with their discography. The songwriting and especially the melodies are what define B&S for me, and this album has some truly delicious melodies. Get Me Away From Here I'm Dying is incredible; a perfect pop song. Other favorites are Seeing Other People, Fox in the Snow, Mayfly, and Judy and the Dream of Horses. No skips on the album and it functions really well as a whole.
Late era Bob Dylan is tough. The engineering and mixing on this are album are superb. I love the instrumentals and I don't mind the downtempo beats. The vibes are pretty great overall. Excellent songwriting of course. But, man, it's hard to listen to his vocals. They sort of ruin (for me at least) what would otherwise be a fantastic album.
Liked this more than I thought I would. Iron Man is pretty silly but overall I like the heavy guitar riffs across the whole album. I can hear the influence in a lot of modern stuff.
I enjoyed this, but I don't know anything about jazz. Kind of all runs together. Great sounds though.
Never heard of this guy before. This album was alright. Some of the instrumentals/composition are really great and sound very timely for the 90s, even though he had apparently been performing since the 70s. Other songs feel like reheated classic rock nachos; not bad, just not particularly interesting. Mostly, though, I did not care for the vocals. Probably won't explore any more of his discography.
Enjoyable listen. I can see how it was influential. But not really dynamic enough to be exciting. Just pleasant background music.
