In the Court of the Crimson King was the only half decent song.
All felt very of the time, whimsy for the sake of it. A lot of endless jamming that didn't sound great.
Not an enjoyable listen.
Great album for the year. Energy, good sounds and 'Who's that lady', 'Listen to the music', and 'Summer Breeze' are known songs.
Liked 'If you were there' too.
Overall, felt like some solos went on too long, and there was some repetition. Overall, quite good.
Thought it sounded like glam rock, dad rock, very of the time.
'You really got me' was the song I knew. Thought they improved as they went on but turns out Spotify just moved onto other artists and albums.

Strong start and end to the album, very good. Great vocals, every song feels 'full' in terms of instruments etc.
I can appreciate that it's good band music.
Jazz, albeit with the funk fusion, does not sit with my personal taste. The ubiquity of the louder trumpet feels exhausting as well.
There's nothing that seems distinguishable to another big band jazz band.
For the era, it does feel very polished.
Feels like the energy and the variety of songs felt like it was going to have potential, but the songs didn't really build into anything.
Seemed like an example of how to turn a collection of one minute songs into four minutes. Repetition, for example 'Watch the Tapes' saying 'watch the tapes' about 25 times.
Not sure when people would listen to this album, didn't feel like an experience.
'Someone Great' seemed like the best song for the first or second listen, however I'd imagine that same note pattern would become incredibly repetitive.
'All my Friends' is rated by others as the best song on the album, however this feels like it should be an ok song amongst a better album, not the best song.

Knew 'Down on the Street' was covered by Rage Against the Machine, never knew it was The Stooges.
A high energy, proper rock band, although sounds like mostly Guns and Roses with (bizarrely) a hint of the Pogues. Solos start getting a bit weird as the go on longer, not a fan of the trumpets as the album went on.
Surprised I haven't heard The Stooges ever mentioned anywhere. Have clearly heard of Iggy Pop but not as this.
A very brief review
A lot of strong songs. Finally know who sang Mockingbird.
Upbeat songs appealled a lot more to me. Other songs felt like powerful songs that could appear in musicals.
Tough to rate this as an album, falls between a 3 and a 4. Will tip it to a 4 due to relistenable songs.
'Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground' is probably my personal favourite.
Minus the vocals, the 'I Think We're Gonna be Friends' feels like a video game soundtrack.
'Fell in Love With a Girl' is the most known I'd imagine, still sounds good at this point too.
Some of the other songs like 'Little Room' feel like an AI general noise to fill in the gap based on the other songs.
"I'm trying, I'm trying" the vocalist repeats, as he (and the second vocalist) then puts minimal effort into singing.
The lyrics sound like the whole album was written in half an hour.
Initially sounded like an interesting album with hints of The Pixies and The Strokes, then it leaned into grunge then far more into slacker. Elements of punk as well but slacker is prevalent.
"Zurich is Stained" and "Here" are my personal preferences in the album.
The live version meant there were a lot of screams going on. Still, high quality for a live album.
A difficult album to appreciate. A great artist, not particularly my genre though. Didn't recognise any of the songs. 'Think' was by far my favourite. The final songs felt like background noise.
Would be interested to hear a different album perhaps over this.

Owned this album in about 2012. Never really clicked with it then when I wanted to and relistening now felt similar.
Feels very indie, almost as if the lead singer could be singing on one knee with a fist clenched for the entire album.
'Wake Up' is ok, but then it's about the only song that doesn't sound melancholy on the whole album.
Starts strong with Baba O'Reilly, a few known songs in there.

Think I need to sit and re-listen to it again to appreciate it more. Can see why, especially at the time, it was considered such a strong album.
Many songs had poor backing tracks and heavily relied on her voice to carry the quality, and it does.
Private Dancer was a surprisingly different song that I associate with her, although it did become a little repetitive.
'Help' reminds me of karaoke songs in the 90s abroad. Hints of Rod Stewart in her voice here.
Steel Claw was a great song, high energy and strong vocals.
Three songs known by most on one album - Kids, Electric Feel and Time to Pretend. All excellent.
The remainder of the album felt a bit safe and generic, in contrast to each of the three unique songs above.
Overall a decent listen, and glad to have done so.

Had never heard of the artist. The first half of the album was my preferred, with 'Nashville Parent' my favourite on the album.
A calm, melodic, country style of album that hit a sweet spot.
Saw the band image, saw it was punk, saw it was from the 70s and immediately sighed. Not typically what appeals to me, however, I was surprised.
Felt a bit like the Clash, but more like the Buzzcocks, except the instruments and music felt more organised and well assembled. It may or may not be the case, however that's how it seemed.
Can't say I'm a fan of the vocalist, however it fit the band and the era.
Only knew 'Another Girl, Another Planet' as well as the instrumental of another track.
'City of Fun' and 'The Immortal Story' were personal favourites on the album.
There are some BB songs that I like. As a group, I like them and appreciate their contribution to the genre, era, and generation that listened to them.
I wish, wish I liked this album. Listening to it while doing things wasn't possible, I need to stop and focus on it to be able to hear what they were saying, and even then it took effort.
There's no song that stood out for me, the vocals didn't change over any song or across any song, it was the same across the whole album for every moment that a word was spoken.
If somebody rated this five stars I'd genuinely believe them, but for me, it missed out on many elements.
Quite liked it. An inoffensive album, typical rock, decent tempo, plenty of guitar riffs, safe vocals never deviating too far.
Ome thing that really hit my ear strange on every song, and I searched why, is that the drums and percussion were all digital. They all felt too clean, perfect and uniform, out of keeping with rock etc.
Knew Sharp Dressed Man, that's all. Got me Under Pressure was the highest rated song and was decent enough, also liked Bad Girl.

28 songs over 33 minutes. Each song the drummer smashed out the same rapid beats, each song the vocalist shouted incoherent zombie noises while standing a meter away from the mic.
Distinct, I'm sure relevant and appealing to some, but not me.
Hoped for more - the first song repeats the word 'Chic' over a hundred times, which set the tone for the album having many songs which repeated 'grooves' and loops.
'Savoir Faire' was a nice instrumental song, 'Le Freak' is the well known song along with 'I want Your Love'.
Overall, fine. Not bad, not great.
A critically acclaimed album, iconic. Not my cup of tea though, I'm not an ABBA fan, the harmonies and vocals all sound eerily similar on most of the unknown songs.
'Dancing Queen' is always going to be a top song over the world. 'Fernando' too. Everyone knows 'Money, Money, Money', can't say that it's an enjoyable experience listening to it though. 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' is lesser played but still well known and a good song.
'Tiger' was an unknown song to me that stood out.
My taste ranks this as a 2*. That's not fair though, as an album it's elevated by the status of the band and the album itself. I'll reluctantly put this as a 4*.
