It's perfectly acceptable. However it doesn't really sound like it's doing anything that some other producers are doing. My personal rating: 3/5 My rating relative to the list: 3/5 Should this have been included on the original list? No.

Unfortunately for this album, modern rap (2010s onwards) is a big blind spot for me unless it's doing something weird and daring (Clipping and Danny Brown for example), and while there are some pretty cool elements on the album for me, I feel like it doesn't distinguish itself in any meaningful way from other modern rap albums. My favorite songs on DON'T GROW UP TOO SOON are the jazzier cuts. The first song Take Your Time is quite cool, for it to only delve into bass-heavy trap-esque songs, which is a style of rap I don't care for at all. I don't like the R&B themed songs either. Don't Grow Up Too Soon is the second album of producer and song-writer Nascent. This album consists of r&b and rap with a lot a guest contributors for the vocals. "Spinning These Blocks", "Mangosteen" and "Big Brown Eyes" are the best songs on an album that never stands out anywhere.

R&B, pop, hip-hop. Me ha gustado. Un 4.

This is somewhat pedestrian - I'd genuinely be interested to read why it was submitted, as it doesn't appear to be doing anything new, or even old things notably well.

Sometimes pretty good, bordering on conscious, hip-hop; other times it sounds like a producer show-reel (which it kind of is). Cracking guests though

Pretty hit and miss

Solid hip hop debut. The artist obviously knows his way around production and it's full of fruitful collaboration. Lyrically there's nothing wrong with it but it didn't distinguish itself particularly for me.

Not a style of rap that I relate to well. I really didn’t find a connection here.

I struggled to find much to like here I'm afraid. All bit overproduced and bland and generic and forgettable

I liked this a little bit but also it was long and not my genre. I definitely see the vibe and stuff but meh.

I don't really understand the point of this album - there are some nice melodies put together (which is probably the biggest takeaway I got here) and I'd like to know the original source on a lot of these. But this plays like a sampler album with all the different voices. I appreciate and occasionally enjoy the slow rapping styles [e.g. "Take Your Time"] - the tracks that more in a trap/808 or behind the beat styles just go by me, not sub-genres I gravitate to at all. That all kind of sums up the album - I don't know who Nascent is after listening to this - both figuratively and literally. Is this a compilation album? Too many guests so it doesn't feel like an album - I needed a libretto to follow along to figure out who I like (or don't). TL;DR: A mish-mash of nice enough sounding beats that do end up running into each other; I like the mellow vibe, but I can't latch onto anything resembling a cohesive feel - way way too random. 5/10 2 stars IMO: Belonged in the book? No.

Did some digging and this guy is apparently a well-known producer with some serious credits. Felt a little disappointing, then, that most of the beats here felt somewhat uninspired. There are high points for sure, but I found myself wanting more on most of the tracks. The bars are nothing to write home about either, and the spoken word segments were cringey. There’s no denying this LP has airtight mastering and a sense of professionalism, just wish the content lived up to the packaging.

Extremely unimpressive 2020s hip hop. I am generally quite fond of this genre (and thanks to the OG 1,001 list for expanding my palate) but this ain’t it

Album Cover: 5/5 (For being really cool and interesting) Don't know the artist before listening and not my preferred genre, but I am open to knew stuff. There is no Wikipedia page for the album so .... there's that. Standouts: Take Your Time Others: Mangosteen Most of the album is trash with a couple of redeemers. 2/5

In the best songs, it is an over-produced poetry slam.

It's giving SoundCloud rapper / DJ your friend sent you and you don't normally click the things he sends you. There's a lot of music I need to listen to so uh, gonna pause this one and move on
