Listening statistics & highlights
For me, this is the greatest album of all time. Everything is perfect, the songs are long but dont overstay their welcome. The covers enhance the originals. There is a memorable intro to the album, it even ends with a catchy hit (which is always a welcome surprise seeing as many artists seem to put their moodiest track at the end). On a full listen its hard to determine what the singles were (but in a good way). It makes you want to wail like a banshee in a desperate attempt to even remotely sound like Buckley. Obviously the lyrics and guitar work is brilliant from Jeff, but lets leave some credit for the drummer who absolutely nails it. I've yet to get tired of this album and I'm gutted we couldn't get more from this superbly talented artist.

This was very good. Eric Clapton is a racist, and yet reviewers refer to this as "white boy blues". Wonders never cease.
One of the most influential albums of all time. An easy 5 for Tomorrow Never Knows alone.
This isn't my music at all, but I can really respect the control the singer has on his voice and also the band has with the instruments. One of those rare moments where a whole band is completely in sync with the idea and it has to be the best of its genre.
Punk has got to be the most formulaic, generic genre ever. Even more so than drum and bass.

This is why I use the generator. This album is so familiar yet so strange at the same time. His lyricism is mad, and he has a kind of Alex Turner thing going on lyrically. I preferred Scott 4 but this was a very unique listen.

I get it, he's different. But he does not warrant the number of albums he has on this list, many songs feel like they were written, recorded, produced with little love and I get the feeling of records being churned out with this guy. It's the little details that make a song and there are no little details.

People saying most average album ever and then giving it 1 star is amusing... I just feel like this is a run-of-the-mill pop album, but it seems to be worshipped as an all time great. The Fame by Lady Gaga is better. Side note: Zane Lowe ranking this as greater than Revolver by The Beatles is absolutely wild.

This is one of those albums that I know people really love, and I simply cannot get into it. I'm not sure if its the over-strummed guitars, or his voice which just doesn't change emotion at all. Whatever it is, i can respect that it's different and it was a sound of my generation but I just can't tune to it.

An album greater than the sum of its parts. HTDC is the masterpiece; National Anthem is a brilliant fusion of genres; Idioteque; EIIRP; Morning Bell are good tracks in their own right. The audacity to release this album after The Bends and OK Computer is madness. Easy 5*.

Highly influential to me and probably one of the first records where I branched away from my dad's music collection and taste. One of those albums where each song has been my favourite at some point (also weird hearing Change Your Mind on this album as the UK version didn't have it).
This was fun but I can't give an accurate rating as I've got no idea what he was rapping about
I really wanted to 5* this, but it felt like I was in a dream where my mind was making up grunge music and how it sounded. It was screaming for some variety which I think Nevermind has.
This is someone I will never understand. To me, he's struggling to sing on top of dull tracks. I always like to keep an open mind but I really don't get this guy.

This is a UK classic, and i imagine other nations are going to struggle with its message. It perfectly personifies being skint and a bit chavvy in UK culture (pub references / gritty club references / TV on the sofa / shit small talk). He's not rapping either it is more spoken word but you just dont expect spoken word to be so ordinary! Everything in this album is intentional and it's bloody brilliant.

I know a lot of artists are influenced by this album but I didn't really get it. Also, second half of the album is better than the first.
For me, this is the greatest album of all time. Everything is perfect, the songs are long but dont overstay their welcome. The covers enhance the originals. There is a memorable intro to the album, it even ends with a catchy hit (which is always a welcome surprise seeing as many artists seem to put their moodiest track at the end). On a full listen its hard to determine what the singles were (but in a good way). It makes you want to wail like a banshee in a desperate attempt to even remotely sound like Buckley. Obviously the lyrics and guitar work is brilliant from Jeff, but lets leave some credit for the drummer who absolutely nails it. I've yet to get tired of this album and I'm gutted we couldn't get more from this superbly talented artist.

This feels like a 3.5 which I've rounded to 4 because it piqued my interest. Pharrell's voice verges on brilliance/frat boy trying to sound cool. There's a formula, but it sounded fresh (and it was definitely fresh at the time). Also shout out to Pharrell's production skills and solo album which are amazing.

I was really looking forward to this one but it just wouldn't click for me. Am I realistically going to listen to sex noises? Am I realistically going to listen to some of the themes of this album? It just didnt connect with me at all and I love elements of jazz rap, but not for me this one!

My parents being polite said 'why don't we listen to it?' not realising he always carries the cd with him and not realising it was nearly an hour long. The production of this album is great. It tails off in the second half of the album but has some big hits to compensate. Realistically, Future Sex Lovesounds should be on this list instead, or even 20/20 Part 1

Absolute dross, don't care if its Pink Floyd. Perfect example of an album that does not need to be on the list. They've got some exceptional albums and this is a stinker.
I enjoyed this and I was intrigued by it. Moody with surprising vocals kept me interested and wanting to listen again

I bought this album when it came out because Q magazine said it was the best album of the year (beating AM by Arctic Monkeys). I couldnt get my head around it at the time and thought it only had a couple of good tracks. Listening to it again, I realise how epic this album is. Easy 5 star album!

Impressed at when this was made, very dreamy/nightmarey. Not my kind of music but still appreciated it.
This guy has a brilliant voice (like Thom Yorke and Fran Healy had a clone made), and yet the musicianship and structure is absolutely wasted. This is what my wife hears when Radiohead come on.

I had moments of "wow this album is underrated" and then moments of "wow this album is overrated". 3* feels fair.
I was looking forward to this one and ended up really disappointed. It just sounds a bit shit and it's really long. The album cover is epic though.
