Popular Reviews

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers

This was very good. Eric Clapton is a racist, and yet reviewers refer to this as "white boy blues". Wonders never cease.

Revolver by Beatles

One of the most influential albums of all time. An easy 5 for Tomorrow Never Knows alone.

System Of A Down by System Of A Down

This isn't my music at all, but I can really respect the control the singer has on his voice and also the band has with the instruments. One of those rare moments where a whole band is completely in sync with the idea and it has to be the best of its genre.

Eternally Yours by The Saints

Punk has got to be the most formulaic, generic genre ever. Even more so than drum and bass.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie

Wow instant classic

Nov 05 2023

Not bad on first listen, although doesn't compare to the smiths

Punk by numbers

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill

Not my genre but instantly a bop

Enjoyed it, for how old it is, it's still a good listen.

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Jun 04 2024

Lovely pre iron maiden stuff, but why a live album?

A polarising album which is reason enough to be on the list. Also there's some absolute head-bangers on this stop worrying about the lyrics (if Hot Dog wasn't on it people would rate it higher)

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
Jun 06 2024

An OK reggae album?

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie

Some good songs, some get lost

Two Dancers by Wild Beasts

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Jun 17 2024

It's understated with a powerful message and that voice is so unique!

Logical Progression by LTJ Bukem
Jun 19 2024

Violator by Depeche Mode
Jun 29 2024

A very good album that captures a mood

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
Jun 30 2024

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jul 02 2024

Some great songs, great story behind it too.

Real Life by Magazine
Jul 05 2024

It seems to be a huge influence on post Punk so it gets 3 from me. However, it didn't really stand out and it had that very typical post Punk voice

Medúlla by Björk
Jul 07 2024

No one would say "ooooh let's put a bit of Medulla on..."

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
Jul 26 2024

Somewhere in this album is probably a 5* album. However there's just too much fluff to ever take it seriously

Jul 27 2024

Severely out of date ideologies, probably one of the original trolls of music. He is however an excellent lyricist.

Under Construction by Missy Elliott
Jul 29 2024

Very catchy, and varied for a hip hop album

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jul 30 2024

I was looking forward to this one but just disappointed at how rappers instantly go for the cliche racist/misogynistic lyrics. I want a rap album that's just quality and not padded when there's nothing else to rap about. Hard to give a rap album 5* for this reason.

E.V.O.L. by Sonic Youth
Jul 31 2024

Dull

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Aug 01 2024

It's got some excellent songs and some fairly average songs that I just don't get. His voice is obscenely good and he should be making more music than what he's already achieved

Murmur by R.E.M.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Aug 04 2024

One of the worst radiohead albums and it's amazing

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Aug 06 2024

Pretty listenable, but first metal album? I think Led Zepp beat them to it

Aug 07 2024

Wow, the production is amazing for an album from 1970 and some of the openers give me chills!

Maxinquaye by Tricky
Aug 09 2024

Trip hop is cool but this was too repetitive for me

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Aug 10 2024

Love this album, I remember the CD being naturally really quiet and having yo dangerously pur my speakers on max just to hear it. I've never really focused on the guitar work before but Mark Knopfler's guitar playing is sublime

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Aug 12 2024

This is why I use the generator. This album is so familiar yet so strange at the same time. His lyricism is mad, and he has a kind of Alex Turner thing going on lyrically. I preferred Scott 4 but this was a very unique listen.

Aug 13 2024

Strong album with some ridiculously fast pace, loved it!

Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear
Aug 14 2024

Dull and lifeless

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
Aug 15 2024

Fun to listen to the 17 minute track otherwise the rest was very run of the mill

The La's by The La's
Aug 16 2024

I really really wanted to like this. It has a cult following in Manchester and I know the story about the band and the production of the album, but it's just a one-hit wonder album (especially when There She Goes is wildly different to the rest of the album)

Low by David Bowie
Aug 17 2024

Disjointed, one half is rock and the other half is electronica?

California by American Music Club
Aug 18 2024

The kind of album you'd blast in your back garden on a sombre but sunny Sunday

Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 19 2024

I get it, he's different. But he does not warrant the number of albums he has on this list, many songs feel like they were written, recorded, produced with little love and I get the feeling of records being churned out with this guy. It's the little details that make a song and there are no little details.

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Aug 20 2024

This was different and I really enjoyed it!

Live At Leeds by The Who
Aug 21 2024

Good album, I don't think it's going to bring me back though

1989 by Taylor Swift
Sep 11 2024

People saying most average album ever and then giving it 1 star is amusing... I just feel like this is a run-of-the-mill pop album, but it seems to be worshipped as an all time great. The Fame by Lady Gaga is better. Side note: Zane Lowe ranking this as greater than Revolver by The Beatles is absolutely wild.

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Sep 12 2024

It's good when a band release a 4* album... it's amazing when a band releases a 5* album... it's radiohead when radiohead release a radiohead album

The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk
Sep 13 2024

There were 2 standout tracks for me and the rest felt like background noise

Nov 02 2024

I don't get it (voice is really bad on this one)

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Nov 03 2024

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Maps is good, rest is OK

Elvis Is Back by Elvis Presley
Nov 06 2024

Influential album that must have sounded so good at the time, but it's aged now.

Jan 15 2025

I'm being nice here when I'm saying that maybe it was influential? I've never heard such repetitive garbage in my life

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Jan 16 2025

Good album of covers. There's a lot of arseholes in the music industry, people need to separate the person from the music. Or at the very least be consistent with their judgement.

Jan 18 2025

An hour of my time I'm never getting back

Hunky Dory by David Bowie

Sound Affects by The Jam
Jan 22 2025

The best Jam album I've had

GREY Area by Little Simz
Jan 23 2025

Blown away by this album, I do already like her Introvert album but this album really shows how diluted rap has become, relying too much on sampling and voice changers. This brings it back to its core.

Pieces Of The Sky by Emmylou Harris
Jan 24 2025

Nice country but it's just not my thing

Electric Prunes by The Electric Prunes
Jan 25 2025

Some good songs but terrible production (no fault of theirs)

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys
Jan 28 2025

It was just OK, there are better albums of that genre 15 years before

Eternally Yours by The Saints
Jan 29 2025

Punk has got to be the most formulaic, generic genre ever. Even more so than drum and bass.

White Ladder by David Gray
Jan 31 2025

A defining sound that nobody else can match. He captures melancholy with basic rhythms that stick in your head for days. This album is more than just the singles.

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Feb 02 2025

Great album, 5 stars for how they've created such an unmistakable sound. Marr's riffs, Morrisey's vocals, it's all gravy.

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Feb 05 2025

It's the blues, sounds like the blues

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson

Gentlemen by The Afghan Whigs
Feb 12 2025

What a rough week for albums but this was listenable

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Feb 18 2025

Fun!

System Of A Down by System Of A Down
Feb 20 2025

This isn't my music at all, but I can really respect the control the singer has on his voice and also the band has with the instruments. One of those rare moments where a whole band is completely in sync with the idea and it has to be the best of its genre.

GI by Germs
Feb 22 2025

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Mar 02 2025

Pretty average reggae album with a half decent story

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Mar 04 2025

Could be a 5* if it wasn't bloated with random sub 2-minute songs that no one listens to

Third by Portishead
Mar 05 2025

Machine Gun was about as fun as it gets

Scum by Napalm Death
Mar 06 2025

I think the singer changed at one point because it went from ROARRRRRRRRRRRRR to more of a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! That was the best moment.

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
Mar 08 2025

This was very good. Eric Clapton is a racist, and yet reviewers refer to this as "white boy blues". Wonders never cease.

Reign In Blood by Slayer
Mar 12 2025

Much better than some of the other heavy stuff on here. But not my bag.

Different Class by Pulp
Mar 13 2025

It's just enough weird to be uncomfortable. But I respect the direction and I imagine it was influential.

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
Mar 14 2025

A better formulaic post Punk album but not enough variety for 4*

21 by Adele
Mar 15 2025

It's not something I would immediately listen to but every single song is a hit and that has to be respected. One of the best popular singer-songwriter albums ever made.

Arular by M.I.A.
Mar 18 2025

Composition is great, lyrics left a lot to be desired

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Mar 19 2025

Not my scene but I respect the effort it must take

Screamadelica by Primal Scream
Mar 21 2025

Not what I expected at all, Moving on Up is bait to a totally different album and then all of a sudden you've got an acid album on your hands. But I enjoyed quite a few songs. 4* for the bravery.

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Mar 22 2025

I struggled to connect with it (Fontaines do a great cover of Cello song)

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Apr 02 2025

This was fun but there is a better album of theirs on the list

Horses by Patti Smith
Apr 04 2025

I found this quite good and it was clearly influential as I can hear a lot of modern rock stars in this style of singing. Might even listen again!

Young Americans by David Bowie
Apr 05 2025

Not my kind of Bowie but it was good and it was funky!

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Apr 06 2025

It's just boring!

Apr 07 2025

It's one of my favourites so it's a no brainer. How the songs are so varied yet still feel cohesive is why this album is perfect.

The Who Sell Out by The Who
Apr 08 2025

I really enjoyed this and it must have felt like a fresh idea at the time, although it trails off a bit after Miles.

Remedy by Basement Jaxx
Apr 10 2025

It was OK

American Idiot by Green Day
Apr 12 2025

This is one of those albums that I know people really love, and I simply cannot get into it. I'm not sure if its the over-strummed guitars, or his voice which just doesn't change emotion at all. Whatever it is, i can respect that it's different and it was a sound of my generation but I just can't tune to it.

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Apr 13 2025

Self indulgent and shitty.

Guero by Beck

2112 by Rush
Apr 19 2025

I would have to listen again for a potential 5. But it's a 4.5 for now, I really enjoyed it.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Apr 21 2025

If 6 was 9 is my favourite Hendrix track, and I was expecting the album to follow that pattern but it's actually less psychedelic then I thought it would be (apart from the first track which is audio madness)

Ingenue by k.d. lang
Apr 22 2025

Quite literally listening to paint dry

Transformer by Lou Reed
Apr 26 2025

Amazing album, doesn't unnecessarily prolong it's stay, it just arrives and goes "here's my music" and flies off justbas quick. Love his lyrical style and love the overall Bowie production

Solid Air by John Martyn
Apr 28 2025

First track was .making me think what the hell is this? But I started to like it track by track and will definitely give it another listen. Headphones is a must.

Duck Rock by Malcolm McLaren
May 01 2025

Meh and apparently they're thieves too?

Face to Face by The Kinks
May 02 2025

Didn't blow me away, wasn't bad either

The Predator by Ice Cube
May 03 2025

I don't mind this kind of hip hop but when you have social commentary in your album about white people being intimidated by the songs and black hip hop stereotypes and then go on to prove them right it's just not a good look.

Sail Away by Randy Newman
May 04 2025

Having heard the other Ramdy album, there is no need for this one too

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
May 07 2025

It was fun but not sure why it had to be on the list, ill communication is more iconic

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
May 08 2025

What in the prog is this?

Jack Takes the Floor by Ramblin' Jack Elliott
May 09 2025

It was just OK. Any longer it would have got 2 stars.

Night Life by Ray Price
May 11 2025

It is what it is innit?

Technique by New Order
May 12 2025

This was fun and I'd revisit

Close To You by Carpenters
May 13 2025

This kind of album isn't my thing but I can respect it. There's enough variety in there and the harmonies are immaculate!

Sea Change by Beck
May 14 2025

No reason for this album, his other one was good. If your voice isn't the strongest then you have to demonstrate experimentation but it's just the same song again and again.

Haunted Dancehall by The Sabres Of Paradise
May 15 2025

Rappers desperate to use these as samples, felt like a demo

School's Out by Alice Cooper
May 16 2025

A surprise in every way

Among The Living by Anthrax
May 17 2025

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
May 18 2025

I'll be honest I was expecting something more but I guess it's one of those influential albums that resulted in better albums

Purple Rain by Prince
May 19 2025

This is a great album. It's unapologetically 80s in its sound, and when it gets a bit dull Prince whacks in a ridiculous guitar riff to bolster its defenses. I'll listen to it again on headphones.

Pornography by The Cure
May 20 2025

I didn't engage with this like i did with disintegration

Bright Flight by Silver Jews
May 21 2025

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
May 30 2025

Really enjoyed this one, there's no filler

Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson
May 31 2025

Absolute tosh, weird for the sake of it, adds nothing of value. Beautiful People gets a 2*

A fun listen but i can't say I had to hear it before dying.

Nowhere by Ride
Jun 02 2025

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Jun 05 2025

It didn't blow me away, first half was better than second half

Whatever by Aimee Mann
Jun 06 2025

This didn't really add anything when you have PJ Harvey on the list.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jun 09 2025

This was good but my wife summed it up perfectly. It's good because she makes it good, but there's no individual song that you think "that's a GREAT song"

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Jun 11 2025

Love the chemical brothers but it's not a 5*

Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson
Jun 12 2025

A product of its time, maybe a late 90s version would be less... cheesy?

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

Short and sweet (necessary though?)

Life's Too Good by The Sugarcubes
Jun 14 2025

It was good but it was 2 notes away from stumbling into B52's love shack

Rings Around The World by Super Furry Animals
Jun 17 2025

I get why this is on the list, second half is very unusual. His voice bores me to tears though!

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jun 19 2025

Deserves to be on the list I just didn't like it at all.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Jun 24 2025

Don't get his voice at all

Only By The Night by Kings of Leon
Jun 26 2025

There's enough in here to make it worthwhile, and it's hugely successful. The first 2 tracks are classic KoL, but it then gets a bit run-of-the-mill.

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Jun 27 2025

Light hearted but predictable

Yeezus by Kanye West
Jun 28 2025

I can't stand Kanye West. I think he is a tit. But this album is bold and in your face and definitely deserves to be on the list. I strangely enjoyed it.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Jul 02 2025

This is one if those influential albums that just feels dated now. But you can hear how important it was at the time.

Trio by Dolly Parton
Jul 04 2025

Delightful on a summers day but nothing I'm going to come back to.

Orbital 2 by Orbital
Jul 05 2025

I actually liked the first and last track i suppose its some fancy way of saying rhythm is more complicated than we think

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Jul 06 2025

Pleasant and well produced, Donald has a good ear for production

Faust IV by Faust
Jul 08 2025

No dont get it, probably never will

The Next Day by David Bowie
Jul 10 2025

Some shades of brilliance but mostly run-of-the-mill. Thank god for Blackstar!

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jul 11 2025

Please no more Costello i beg you. I'm on my knees.

Mott by Mott The Hoople
Jul 12 2025

It was ok

I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Jul 13 2025

Interesting voice but not what I would listen to again and again

Signing Off by UB40
Jul 14 2025

Distinctly average reggae

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Jul 15 2025

A very good album! Enjoyed from start to finish.

Vespertine by Björk
Jul 17 2025

I dont think I'm gonna be a Bjork fan but this was ok (got a little samey towards the end).

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
Jul 19 2025

Influential yes... will I listen to it? No

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Jul 20 2025

Really enjoyed this, lyrics were good, instrumentation was minimalist but in a good way.

I Against I by Bad Brains
Jul 21 2025

I didn't mind it, it had a great story behind it. It's got a good fact about the song recorded from prison. Deserves to be on the list.

Dirty by Sonic Youth
Jul 22 2025

Noisy half-baked music.

Berlin by Lou Reed
Jul 23 2025

Only Lou Reed could have a song about child protection; followed by a song about suicide; and THEN follow with a song called "Sad Song"

Peter Gabriel by Peter Gabriel
Jul 25 2025

Wasn't too focused on this one for other reasons. Solsbury Hill is a banger.

Raw Like Sushi by Neneh Cherry
Jul 26 2025

First track is good, some songs I felt second-hand embarrassment for her. Dated hip-hop.

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jul 27 2025

They've got some great tracks but a serious lack of range in their albums

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jul 28 2025

Think this is my 4th Nick Cave album and I just don't get it. Lots of re-invention but track to track on a album is always the same.

Kid A by Radiohead
Jul 31 2025

An album greater than the sum of its parts. HTDC is the masterpiece; National Anthem is a brilliant fusion of genres; Idioteque; EIIRP; Morning Bell are good tracks in their own right. The audacity to release this album after The Bends and OK Computer is madness. Easy 5*.

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter
Aug 01 2025

This was good, im not sure if its something I'd go back to but it felt like it belonged with its eerie indie vibe.

Damaged by Black Flag
Aug 02 2025

Someone mentioned it being music for white supremacists and it skewed my interpretation of the album! 3* for it not being their fault.

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
Aug 03 2025

Found it boring but my son absolutely bopped to one track!

Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Aug 04 2025

First track is mad, the rest aren't as bad as they're made out to be. It's not fun at all though, 3* for the dedication and back story.

A Short Album About Love by The Divine Comedy
Aug 05 2025

This guy has dedicated his life to write the best love song, and he's given it a good go.

Tommy by The Who
Aug 06 2025

It's absolutely mad from start to finish and fair play for them for doing it, it helped created a fun sub-genre. Pinball Wizard is iconic, yeah take my 5*

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Aug 07 2025

It is likely to be an influential classic, but i won't listen to it again

Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
Aug 10 2025

Beautiful start to finish. Huge love for Richard Hawley. Hoping Standing at the Sky's Edge will be on the list but im doubtful.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Aug 11 2025

Elvis Costello is the definition of beige to me, I can't hate it and I can't find anything to love either. Pump it up is fun.

Exile In Guyville by Liz Phair
Aug 12 2025

Gloomy and moody but didn't float my boat.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Aug 13 2025

Very fun, too long to make me consider a 5* though

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Aug 14 2025

Great voice, sometimes strange use of it but I really enjoyed it.

B-52's by The B-52's
Aug 15 2025

When people describe music as "tight" this is what I imagine. Parts of this feel religiously rehearsed and it made me consider them as a more serious band.

American Gothic by David Ackles
Aug 16 2025

2* for comedic value, she really wanted those shoes... and suffers less than those that choose!

At Budokan by Cheap Trick
Aug 17 2025

I knew a song so that was fun, otherwise it was a standard live album with no crowd banter whatsoever

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Aug 18 2025

Enjoyed this, will listen again!

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Aug 20 2025

Highly influential to me and probably one of the first records where I branched away from my dad's music collection and taste. One of those albums where each song has been my favourite at some point (also weird hearing Change Your Mind on this album as the UK version didn't have it).

Ten by Pearl Jam
Aug 22 2025

I really wanted to 5* this, but it felt like I was in a dream where my mind was making up grunge music and how it sounded. It was screaming for some variety which I think Nevermind has.

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Aug 23 2025

This is someone I will never understand. To me, he's struggling to sing on top of dull tracks. I always like to keep an open mind but I really don't get this guy.

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Aug 25 2025

I really struggled with this, I think its my Guantanamo album

Aug 26 2025

This is a UK classic, and i imagine other nations are going to struggle with its message. It perfectly personifies being skint and a bit chavvy in UK culture (pub references / gritty club references / TV on the sofa / shit small talk). He's not rapping either it is more spoken word but you just dont expect spoken word to be so ordinary! Everything in this album is intentional and it's bloody brilliant.

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Aug 27 2025

I enjoyed this, but im scared to look into the Morrissey hate...

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Aug 28 2025

Genuinely a bop. I'd love to know what they're singing about though...

I See A Darkness by Bonnie "Prince" Billy
Sep 02 2025

I enjoyed it, but will I return? Who knows.

Timeless by Goldie
Sep 03 2025

The title track is pretty good, the rest is dross. If you get this album on the list, listen only to the first track.

Fragile by Yes
Sep 04 2025

Prog rock is not my thing at all but this is good! Will listen again

Metallica by Metallica
Sep 05 2025

On second listen I did really enjoy this, it still feels really formulaic though.

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Sep 06 2025

Great album despite it nit being my thing. A little repetitive towards the end but I enjoyed all of it.

Ritual De Lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction
Sep 07 2025

Been Caught Stealing is a bop, and this album had interesting moments but its hard to overlook the voice sometimes.

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Sep 08 2025

It didn't grab me and it didn't bore me

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Sep 09 2025

What the hell was going on with this band? What genre were they?

One World by John Martyn
Sep 11 2025

I liked the other John Martyn album, but this one didn't hit me

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Sep 12 2025

It was different and I can respect it, but ill never listen to it again

Sex Packets by Digital Underground
Sep 13 2025

This was surprisingly good, and probably the most dedicated hip hop concept album I've heard. A lot of the songs are a bit awkward to blast out your speakers, but it was good!

Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors
Sep 14 2025

It was definitely different! But a bit odd.

The Renaissance by Q-Tip
Sep 15 2025

Really enjoyed this, wanted to listen again!

Green by R.E.M.
Sep 17 2025

A good album, but have they ever made a 5* or just a lot of 4*.

Leftism by Leftfield
Sep 20 2025

Didn't know what to make of it to be honest. It had me intrigued in parts and then I lost interest in some of the 6+ minite songs

Destroyer by KISS
Sep 21 2025

Ahh the genre of "soulless rock"

Is This It by The Strokes
Sep 22 2025

I know a lot of artists are influenced by this album but I didn't really get it. Also, second half of the album is better than the first.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Sep 23 2025

For me, this is the greatest album of all time. Everything is perfect, the songs are long but dont overstay their welcome. The covers enhance the originals. There is a memorable intro to the album, it even ends with a catchy hit (which is always a welcome surprise seeing as many artists seem to put their moodiest track at the end). On a full listen its hard to determine what the singles were (but in a good way). It makes you want to wail like a banshee in a desperate attempt to even remotely sound like Buckley. Obviously the lyrics and guitar work is brilliant from Jeff, but lets leave some credit for the drummer who absolutely nails it. I've yet to get tired of this album and I'm gutted we couldn't get more from this superbly talented artist.

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Sep 26 2025

Influential yes, pretty boring yes

Snivilisation by Orbital
Sep 28 2025

Decent! Not my scene at all but i thought it was imaginative and kept me interested

Sep 29 2025

Im blown away about when this was released vs how modern it sounds, found it pleasantly enjoyable and it's hugely influential, easy 5*

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Oct 01 2025

Strangely listenable, I kind of hear flaws throughout but I keep wanting to listen again so its doing something right! I can hear the artists that it influenced too.

Microshift by Hookworms
Oct 02 2025

Did not inspire me to listen again

Let England Shake by PJ Harvey
Oct 03 2025

Had high expectations for this one but musically it doesn't go anywhere for me, this leans more into folk which I've always struggled with.

Oct 06 2025

Have to agree with other reviews, it was almost too smooth, the music slid right off of me

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Oct 07 2025

She has a great voice and an interesting way of singing. I couldn't go to a gig of hers though it would be excruciating.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Oct 08 2025

This album contains some of Radiohead's best songs but i can't shake the Kid-A B-sides vibe it gives. Still a great album though!

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Oct 09 2025

I enjoyed it, this is probably the best Sonic Youth album on here. I still think they're a bit pretentious though.

Calenture by The Triffids
Oct 10 2025

As solid as water, as watery as fire, as fiery as a pink fluffy cloud.

New Forms by Roni Size
Oct 11 2025

Absolutely diabolical. I dont mind this genre of music and I still couldn't get through all of it, i lasted about 5 songs (which is approximately 42 years).

Rapture by Anita Baker
Oct 12 2025

It was predictable and peaceful, I probably won't listen again

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Oct 13 2025

I had high hopes for this one, but jt was just OK

Arc Of A Diver by Steve Winwood
Oct 14 2025

This was different and in the right scenario I could see myself listening again but not now

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Oct 15 2025

This was great fun and I really enjoyed the different style to their famous album Eliminator

Fly Or Die by N.E.R.D
Oct 16 2025

This feels like a 3.5 which I've rounded to 4 because it piqued my interest. Pharrell's voice verges on brilliance/frat boy trying to sound cool. There's a formula, but it sounded fresh (and it was definitely fresh at the time). Also shout out to Pharrell's production skills and solo album which are amazing.

Oct 17 2025

For a movie soundtrack this was very good!

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Oct 18 2025

This started off great but then i found it just kept going (and its not even that long). So my heart says 3* as I dont think I'll listen again.

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Oct 19 2025

Tunes into the human urge to bop

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Oct 20 2025

What have I just listened to? Folk? Rock? Pre-MBV madness? It gets 3* for being absolutely mad.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Oct 21 2025

This was really fun and definitely wild. The female vocals were brilliant and without them this album would probably get irritating.

Pretenders by Pretenders
Oct 22 2025

Enjoyed it, but will i listen again?

Central Reservation by Beth Orton
Oct 23 2025

I enjoyed the first song and then realised the rest of the album had the same style. I struggle with folk but I can acknowledge that this was a very good example of its genre

Trafalgar by Bee Gees
Oct 24 2025

What in the sad high pitch man did i just listen to

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Oct 25 2025

I enjoyed it but it did contain a lot of indie cliches. But thats fine because i enjoyed it right?

Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes
Oct 28 2025

It was enjoyable but i dont remember a single track and thats a worry

Drunk by Thundercat
Oct 29 2025

Utterly bizarre

I can see why people don't listen put it that way

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
Nov 07 2025

A great listen, i wanted to listen again which hasn't happened in a while on this list

Swordfishtrombones by Tom Waits
Nov 08 2025

Why so much tom waits? This one was survivable. But I get the idea now he's different for the sake of different.

Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera
Nov 09 2025

Great voice, a double album was a long listen, could've been cut to 1. Wife gives it a 4.

Moon Safari by Air
Nov 10 2025

The singles do the heavy lifting. The rest of the album is meh.

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Nov 12 2025

Love this album, absolutely insane vocals in front of some extremely catchy grunge rhythms. No complaints (except maybe it goes on too long)

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Nov 14 2025

Admittedly I only partially listened to this but I liked what I heard!

Elephant Mountain by The Youngbloods
Nov 15 2025

There was a good mix of songs on this album! I will give it another listen at some point

War by U2
Nov 19 2025

Belter of an album trails off in the second half but with better production could've been a classic

Triangle by The Beau Brummels
Nov 20 2025

Pleasant

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Nov 22 2025

So disappointed with this, the instrumentation just does not go anywhere in any song and yet the intros make you think "ooooh this is gonna be good" and it just tapers off

The Poet by Bobby Womack
Nov 25 2025

This was fun but also samey

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Nov 27 2025

No need for this many morrissey albums

Elastica by Elastica
Nov 30 2025

Good album with a good mix of songs

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Dec 03 2025

I mean it's a classic for a reason, maybe a little too camp for me now though but I used to lash this album.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Dec 04 2025

I mean it's Led Zep... one of the best debuts of all time!

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Dec 05 2025

This could be a 5* its got so many great tracks! But it's also got some really average tracks that could've easily been cut from quite a big album!

Kings Of The Wild Frontier by Adam & The Ants
Dec 06 2025

Better than I thought it would be but he's obsessed with his name isn't he?

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Dec 07 2025

There was one track that blew me away on this album, it was an instrumental with so many fusions of genres and it didnt feel forced. Will listen again.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Dec 08 2025

I agree with a lot of reviewers on here. If it wasn't for the cringe skits then this would be a 5* album and im not really into this type of music either.

Kala by M.I.A.
Dec 09 2025

Very modern sounding even today, loved the African drum influences

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Dec 10 2025

I love the title track of course, but the rest of the album is tragically similar there's no depth to the album at all

En-Tact by The Shamen
Dec 11 2025

The second half of the album made me take a * away

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Dec 12 2025

It started off good and then tapered off at the end

Beautiful Freak by Eels
Dec 13 2025

This is as good as an album as you can get with a front man that can't quite sing

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Dec 14 2025

I bopped to it but I probably wouldn't listen again

16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens
Dec 15 2025

It was a pleasant listen but nothing more

Happy Sad by Tim Buckley
Dec 16 2025

Very good but Songs can be too long

Life Thru A Lens by Robbie Williams
Dec 17 2025

I used to lash this album as a kid. But unfortunately with mature ears this just sounds like someone desperately trying to sound like LG and then their production team insist that the iconic Angels appear to save the downfall of a career.

Street Signs by Ozomatli
Dec 18 2025

I had fun listening to this but it didn't make me want to return to it

Idlewild by Everything But The Girl
Dec 20 2025

Not my thing but the production was great!

Ananda Shankar by Ananda Shankar
Dec 27 2025

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Dec 30 2025

Probably need to listen to this a few times

Jan 02 2026

We've got to realise that music of a shithouse can still be appreciated despite the shithouse being a shithouse.

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Jan 03 2026

I was really looking forward to this one but it just wouldn't click for me. Am I realistically going to listen to sex noises? Am I realistically going to listen to some of the themes of this album? It just didnt connect with me at all and I love elements of jazz rap, but not for me this one!

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Jan 04 2026

I was irrationally judgemental of this album as a kid, and I was irrationally wrong. It's a great album.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Jan 05 2026

It's not a 5* unfortunately but it is a very very good album (4.5*?)

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Jan 07 2026

A fun listen, i won't be coming back to this.

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Jan 10 2026

Some absolutely amazing original songs but sung atrociously. I've given it a 3 to acknowledge that its probably because im not American. Like when all the Americans heard The Streets and thought "wtf?!"

Doolittle by Pixies
Jan 11 2026

I've heard a lot a about this album and never given it a go. But wow, what a first impression, I'll definitely revisit this.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Jan 12 2026

It's just OK, don't believe the hype

#1 Record by Big Star
Jan 13 2026

In agreement with other reviews. All the ingredients are there and yet there's no soul.

Movies by Holger Czukay
Jan 14 2026

It deserves to be on the list because it was different! But I won't be listening again.

Soul Mining by The The
Jan 15 2026

This is why I do the 1001 challenge, I never would of heard this and I thought it was brilliant!

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Jan 17 2026

At the age of 13 my eccentric friend came over to stay at my house and he was mad on Tubular Bells. My parents being polite said 'why don't we listen to it?' not realising he always carries the cd with him and not realising it was nearly an hour long. Bless my parents for staying strong for that hour, and I hope Guy's doing well. This ain't for me and I don't think it ever will be haha

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Jan 19 2026

It's a great album, i don't think the Shine closer is needed though, the intro is brilliant, leave it like that.

The Libertines by The Libertines
Jan 20 2026

Didn't get it back then, don't get it now. Pete Doherty must be the luckiest guy on earth.

A Walk Across The Rooftops by The Blue Nile
Jan 23 2026

It was intriguing and i get why it was on the list, but it's just missing that final piece of the puzzle (better lyrics)

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
Jan 25 2026

Honestly with the cult status of this album I was expecting something a lot better.

Rejoicing In The Hands by Devendra Banhart
Jan 26 2026

Just boring after a while, the kind of style that should only be 1 song on an album

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Jan 30 2026

I enjoyed it and respected it, worthy of 4*

Jan 31 2026

It's hard to rate this, I'm going with 3 because it wasn't interesting but it was influential

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
Feb 01 2026

I like this genre, and yet I thought it was shite

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
Feb 02 2026

It was OK but im never going to revisit

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Feb 04 2026

I enjoyed it but I'm becoming all too familiar with the Bob Dylan formula and can't believe he's gone on to make 4 million albums

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Feb 06 2026

Same old same old there is nothing inspirational about the lyrics. Same old cringe skits as well

The Bends by Radiohead
Feb 07 2026

IT'S THE BENDS

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Feb 08 2026

It was fun at first and then dragged

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Feb 09 2026

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Feb 11 2026

One of the best guitarists of all time

The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by The Incredible String Band
Feb 12 2026

No just no. Folk is a tough genre, you NEED a good voice and this guy didn't have it (nevermind the psychedelic aspect)

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
Feb 13 2026

Wasn't as bad as others are making out (not to me anyway)

Miriam Makeba by Miriam Makeba

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Feb 18 2026

I enjoyed it but you can feel the after effects of nirvana and you just find yourself comparing it to nirvana

Feb 20 2026

It was good, his live voice is excellent but the songs are the exact same style it needs some variety

Feb 21 2026

Bored to tears by Brian Eno. He's an excellent producer and we'll leave it like that

Want One by Rufus Wainwright
Feb 22 2026

Great voice but no songs grabbed me

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Feb 23 2026

Always enjoy Miles Davis, just easy listening in a positive way

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 26 2026

Agreed with other reviews, good album but not needed on the list

Achtung Baby by U2
Feb 27 2026

A classic. There seems to be a trend on hating U2, but they've remained themselves so many times and have made so many top albums. They went "commercial" and people act like they took a shit on your doorstep. Iconic songs on this album, and sonically so different from their previous albums at the time.

Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Mar 02 2026

Was potty training my son with this in the background, a very stressful experience and the music didn't help

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Mar 03 2026

Very good album, there's a couple of stinkers but the classics outweigh them.

Fire Of Love by The Gun Club

Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal
Mar 08 2026

Pleasantly played while i worked, but i won't be returning

Pacific Ocean Blue by Dennis Wilson
Mar 09 2026

Im giving this a 4 because i was in a rush and I stopped for moments and thought 'ooh this is pretty good!'

Mar 10 2026

Perfect example of an album that doesn't need to be here because he surpassed it with a better (and probably more influential) album

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch
Mar 11 2026

I hate this genre but I enjoyed the album so that sounds like a 4* to me

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Mar 12 2026

There's an epic 4 song run and wanna be starting something too. There's a reason why its the greatest selling album of all time. I've kept to my decision to keep my reviews about the music and not the shitty people themselves

White Light by Gene Clark
Mar 13 2026

Pleasant and full of demos?

Atomizer by Big Black
Mar 14 2026

Great production but meh end result

Mar 15 2026

Moss Side Story by Barry Adamson
Mar 16 2026

Bizarre, big up moss side! Still strikes fear in my heart.

The Slider by T. Rex
Mar 17 2026

I nearly gave this 4 because the first half has a formula, but the second half sold it to me. What a talent that we lost so soon.

Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp
Mar 18 2026

It was OK, a bit boring, not really something I had to hear before I die (even though I already had)

Opus Dei by Laibach
Mar 19 2026

3.5, I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought i would but it was a bit too arty in places

McCartney by Paul McCartney
Mar 20 2026

It was like a very good demo

Van Halen by Van Halen
Mar 21 2026

Very close to a 5 but I got a bit bored in the middle, excellent opening and closing tracks!

Mar 22 2026

Bohemian is one of the greatest songs of all time, but this is not one of the greatest albums of all time.

Fever Ray by Fever Ray
Mar 26 2026

TK Maxx Bjork

Mar 27 2026

Great! One of those albums that just feels classic, the 10 minute one got a bit dull though

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Mar 28 2026

Good but not incredible

Justified by Justin Timberlake
Mar 29 2026

The production of this album is great. It tails off in the second half of the album but has some big hits to compensate. Realistically, Future Sex Lovesounds should be on this list instead, or even 20/20 Part 1

Apr 01 2026

Absolute dross, don't care if its Pink Floyd. Perfect example of an album that does not need to be on the list. They've got some exceptional albums and this is a stinker.

Spiderland by Slint
Apr 02 2026

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Apr 12 2026

Now this was interesting! Got a bit bored at the end but a very near 5 star album

Buffalo Springfield Again by Buffalo Springfield
Apr 13 2026

It was good but im always reminded that The Beatles were just on another plane of existence at this time and so this doesn't strike me as influential or important in any way

Armed Forces by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Apr 14 2026

Please Robert, do not subject me to anymore Elvis Costello. He is not a influential and important as other artists on here with LESS albums.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson

Apr 25 2026

Not my thing but I think I enjoyed one song!

Midnight Ride by Paul Revere & The Raiders
Apr 26 2026

I don't know if im getting a bit more cynical in this process but the 60s is over represented with very similar sounding records.

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Apr 27 2026

Cool

The Doors by The Doors
Apr 28 2026

It was very good but not a 5*, some songs are just OK

Easy classic, punk that has variety!

Crazysexycool by TLC
May 19 2026

It was a lot of fun but also full of sex songs

Survivor by Destiny's Child
May 21 2026

It is what it is for its time and that's important. Also, Independent Women is a bop.

25 by Adele
May 22 2026

25 going on 75

May 23 2026

Maybe I should give this another chance. It felt really flat in places, like they were still finding their feet, but it has a unique sound.

Konnichiwa by Skepta

Respectful noise rock? Either do or don't be weird, there is no try.

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys

Music by Madonna
Jun 05 2026

3.5 it could've been a 4 if the American Pie cover wasn't shocking.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Jun 06 2026

I bought this album when it came out because Q magazine said it was the best album of the year (beating AM by Arctic Monkeys). I couldnt get my head around it at the time and thought it only had a couple of good tracks. Listening to it again, I realise how epic this album is. Easy 5 star album!

Jun 07 2026

This was interesting. The second half was a lot better than the first, will have to give it another listen!

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Jun 08 2026

Impressed at when this was made, very dreamy/nightmarey. Not my kind of music but still appreciated it.

Want Two by Rufus Wainwright
Jun 09 2026

This guy has a brilliant voice (like Thom Yorke and Fran Healy had a clone made), and yet the musicianship and structure is absolutely wasted. This is what my wife hears when Radiohead come on.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple

Some albums just some epic and this sounds EPIC

Slayed? by Slade

Pump by Aerosmith
Jun 15 2026

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
Jun 17 2026

Not sure what to make of Ian Gallagher or Liam Brown

Jun 18 2026

I had moments of "wow this album is underrated" and then moments of "wow this album is overrated". 3* feels fair.

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis

I was looking forward to this one and ended up really disappointed. It just sounds a bit shit and it's really long. The album cover is epic though.

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Jun 20 2026

Some of the riffs on this are the best of the Smiths! Johnny Marr you legend

Jun 21 2026

Bloated album but it's got some give tracks on it. Thanks for the trip down memory lane as I used to loads of these as a kid.

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Jul 01 2026

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Jul 03 2026

My Y12 group have decided that this is a 2* album, and Im not arguing with them.

Truth by Jeff Beck
Jul 04 2026

Bizarre album for Jeff Beck where Rod Stewart completely overshadows it

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction
Jul 05 2026

I just dont get it, his voice is irritating as hell

Jul 06 2026

I like the concept but it just didn't interest me that much, a lot of songs were just dull

Palo Congo by Sabu
Jul 20 2026

Didn't really grab me like some similar artists

Rattus Norvegicus by The Stranglers
Jul 21 2026

This was good, there's variety and everything!

Aug 06 2026

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Aug 08 2026

There is probably much better in his locker than this

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Aug 09 2026

The opening track really stands out as a "song" and the rest of the album feels more like poetry. Not sure if its to my taste but it belongs on the list.

Aug 10 2026

Do you know what, if I'm going to listen to this genre, I'd listen to this. Best compliment it is going to get.

Aug 12 2026
