You Forgot It in People is the second studio album by Canadian indie rock band Broken Social Scene, released on October 15, 2002. It was the band's commercial breakthrough. You Forgot It in People features intricate, experimental production techniques and a large number of instruments coinciding with the band's vastly expanded size. Local excitement for the album was so big that initial pressings sold out quickly, necessitating a 2003 reissue. Music videos were made for "Stars and Sons," "Cause = Time," "Almost Crimes (Radio Kills Remix)," "Lover's Spit," and "I'm Still Your Fag." The songs that did not make it onto the album were featured in a B-sides compilation entitled Bee Hives, released in 2004.

"You Forgot It In People" is the second album by indie/post rock band Broken Social Scene. On this album the band parts with the more tradional rock that was on their debut album ("Feel Good Lost"). This album is well produced and strange song structures are kept within reasonable bounds. Personally I prefer their third, eponymous album ("Broken Social Scene"). "Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl", "Almost Crimes (Radio Kills Remix)" and "Cause = Time" are the best tracks, but the rest is excellent too.
This is incredible indie rock. It's in the sweet spot of being slightly less sad than Bon Iver, but still in the same radius.
Alright, here’s the album. Their self-titled album has also been submitted, but this I think is the the more essential entry in their discography. Just an excellent showcase of indie, crossing with post-rock, expansive and lively. Really like it
Heard of BSS before but never listened to them. I enjoyed this a lot; wasn't at all what I expected. Definitely will listen again.
Wow this was an elaborate, very interesting album - I almost felt like I was listening to classical pieces at times yet it all feels very modern. Repeated listens will yield new discoveries!

This is the best indie album I've had on wither list so far. I actually enjoyed this one and I may listen again. It was really refreshing to finally understand what this genre is capable of providing.

Stream of consciousness review time. Aware of the name but never listened. First two tracks are interesting, more pieces than songs. Almost Crimes is great. I enjoy the guitars being low in the mix, feels more of a blended sound. The anthem for 17 year old girls I can't decide if I liked or not as was slightly annoying by the end, Cause=Time feels more solid ground, breezy. Shampoo Suicide was also lovely, no idea what the lyrics are to this as the vocals are almost inaudible in the mix. Looks like I have already liked Lover's Spit and indeed that is OK. This feels like something I should revisit. I listen to a lot of different music so whether I'll return remains to be seen. Thanks for the listen though.
Every time I see their band name I brace for something whiny, and every time I actually listen I get pretty decent post-rock. I didn't care for their other one on here, but I liked this one quite a bit.
This is right up my street- it's got a lot of different bits that makes it a puzzle. Worth relistening.

I love the work of some of the artists that come together to form Broken Social Scene, especially Emily Haines and Metric. But BSS wavers too much between overlapping excess and barely-restrained brilliance. "Cause=Time" has gotta be a top 10 Canadian indie rock song, but the rest of "You Forgot It In People" is too scattered and never achieves those heights anywhere else. It's pretty cool though that Kevin Drew, Emily Haines, and Amy Millan all went to high school together.

Sounds like about half the country was involved at some point - a dazzling range of voices and instruments. Pleasant enough musically, perhaps lyrically lacking a little.
I don't really get Broken Social Scene tbh. This feels like something I should eat up hook, line, and sinker, but it never registers as anything more than "Pretty good indie rock". So.. this was some pretty good indie rock. Better than the other album by them that was on here.
Better than average indie/alternate rock, though generally I thought it was pretty middle of the road for the genre and not quite up to the mostly glowing reviews.

It wasn't bad, just generic indie rock that went a bit maudlin by the end. I liked some bits more than others. Three stars.

That teenage girl song rules but otherwise I just kinda don’t get this band no matter how many of their albums you force on me.

I didn't enjoy You Forgot It In People much, it's still indie at heart even if they do some weird stuff over the top if it, and at no point did it really stand out and grab me. Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl was good, the rest pretty middling, and ultimately circles back to a pretty dull set of indie foundations. 2.
