Close To The Edge
YesI love prog. Can’t decide on my least favourite track on Close to the Edge.

First song is grating. It doesn’t get better. I misremembered Let love rule as an enjoyable song. I rarely pay attention to lyrics but these sound very primitive.
Nice, listened two it twice in a row.
Take On Me and The Sun Always Shines on T.V. stand out.
Reading how the band was formed helps with making sense of the introductory “Monk Time”. Nowadays this album doesn’t have a shocking/revolutionary effect, so that’s hard to judge. I appreciate the Hammond organ. With some more repetition I’ll probably value this album just as much as the Beatles b-sides from this time. The bonus tracks (not included in the rating) are alright, they are intentionally more tame.
I‘m indoctrinated by regular exposure during my teenage years.
Wasn’t in the mood today, fine background tunes. I did not detract a point for Morrissey as a person.
Another three attempts at the famous Graceland album… to me it’s cohesive and an easy listen. But it doesn’t reach any particular heights. Most of the instrumentals are good. I’m eagerly awaiting Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” album.
Slaps right from the start. Then the second song sounds like an intro and the rest of the album washes over me. I couldn’t care less for the singing, but it would probably get boring without the vocals.
I wanna be your dog didn’t even stand out to me :(
Sounds great, my kind of thing. I didn’t know how varied her music is, and different from the radio hits Manchild, Woman and 7 Seconds.
Joni Mitchell is like a bad Billy Joel. The lyrics of “The Same Situation” made me angry. Having been an influential album 50 years ago is not enough for me. And I’m usually partial to singer/songwriters.
Each of the four tunes hangs around a bit too long without enough changes. It probably works better if experienced as the live jam session in a club that it is. Or as background music, but not as focused listening experience on an early morning.
Fine for what it is. The last instrumental track tries its hardest to be good or skilled music, without success. It almost tanked the rating.
People do be having sex
I usually don’t care for English rap lyrics or pay close attention to them. For this album I read along and can appreciate them on a technical level. Everything else is excellent.
Mostly not very enjoyable to listen to. Spotify recommends a “dark, theatrical cabaret music” playlist alongside the album, and that is an apt description. Funny enough I didn’t notice that the album is almost an hour long. In the Colosseum and Goin’ Out West (the only song I already knew) were the stand out tracks.
Unremarkable
First track 5 mics. Second track outstanding chill. Third track groovy. Trumpet solos are tolerable. Didn’t keep more notes on the remaining tracks.
I love prog. Can’t decide on my least favourite track on Close to the Edge.
Might have hit differently if I had grown up to this album. The worst first 20 seconds of any song called Wake Up.
BEYONCÉ does not quite reach my threshold for a 4-star album. But I want to elevate it from the average stuff I put in the 3-star bucket. Good production and no filler track.
I’m not the first to say this, but there’s no reason to listen to this album instead of a “best of ABBA singles” playlist. Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, Money Money Money are bops though.
No standouts to me but good hip hop
I was sceptical before and throughout, but after all I enjoyed the album.
You can discover far better artists in the genre these days.
Fun
ELO has a rather unique style. Whenever they come up on the radio they annoy me more often than not. But as an album I will return to them in the future.
Smooth funk sex
Bumped up to 4 stars because of the consistent quality throughout a long album
Started promising but got much too repetitive and annoying. For example in the title track.
Childhood classic
