This album made me want better headphones. Really liked “sing about me, I’m dying of thirst” “backseat freestyle” and “real”. Was surprised by the amount of religious motifs but after a quick google search, everything made a lot more sense hahah. Enjoyed the variety of instruments! It may be that I’m listening to it at work and not really able to focus on the lyrics, but the production really shined over the lyrics on this album IMO. I would equate it to a book where the author does such a great job illustrating the scenery that you get lost in the description and pay less attention to the dialogue/plot. Not a bad thing just my personal experience with the album.
It was fine! Was pretty rock and roll and had me leg pumping. Don’t know if it’s just that I listened to way too much 80’s rock as a kid but I wasn’t crazy excited throughout. Overall not the biggest fan but was listenable for sure. I remember seeing them live as an opener for Aerosmith when I was a little kid and they absolutely crushed it. Really good energy for a live performance

This album is hot hot hot imo. Never something uninteresting or too boring and I like that it’s generally pretty soft but not afraid to hit you over the head with some GROOOOVES (mainly talkin about the guitar on Eternal Life).
It feels like this album takes everything good about rock from the past 2 decades and just does it all better and with more love and care.
I’ve listened to this album probably more than any other album this year so was a nice little treat to see it as the album of the day.
Lauryn Hill is one of the best MC’s ever. Not only is she an above average rapper but her singing voice is top notch. It’s that versatility that really makes her and this album shine. One second she’s rapping and the next she’s BEEELLLLTING behind Santanas latin influence guitar and yet somehow it still feels so cohesive.
Thematically it’s a nice exploration of love in all the different forms. Maternal love, romantic love, heartbreak, young love and so much more. The little school skits are sweet and serve to ground. It’s a sweet realization that kids, adults and all sorts, opine on the same topics in not all that different of ways.

While i’ve listened to plenty of songs on this album i’ve never listened to the whole thing start to end in one sitting till today.
It feels unfair to give opinions on this album in isolation when it paved the way for all other concept albums after it. Sure I might say that the anti authoritarian message comes off as a little played out even considering the time the album was released in, or that the themes of personal isolation feel a tad overly angsty and childish. But then I remember hearing the wall STRAIGHT UP LITERALLY EVERY TIME I SAT IN THE CAR DRIVING HOME ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL ABSOLUTELY JAMMING while looking forward to those sweet summer days LOL.
Also who am I to judge the played out ness considering the political times we keep finding ourselves in 🤷♀️
Also also the personal tragedy behind the inspiration is fascinating and quite sad, though I find myself more deeply affected by the more personal and tender album wish you were here
And maybe it’s just personal bias towards other floyd albums BUT I SWEAR DURING SOME OF THOSE GILMOUR SOLOS IN WISH YOU WERE HERE THE GUITAR MIGHT AS WELL BE TALKING/CRYING ITS SO ALIGNED WITH THE MESSAGE of the album in such a special way.
Guess what i’m trying to say is that I think it slaps but it’s not my fav pink floyd album (nor is it very close to being)

This album is just a ton OF SAD GORL DANCING BANGERS AND IM HERE FOR IT
Didn’t pay too much attention to the nitty gritty cuz work was a pain today but I really liked it. ABBA songs kinda blend together so much so maybe not as much variety as I’d like. BUT can’t say i was ever not shaking it while listening.
TBH I hadn’t heard a lot of the songs on this album but liked them WAY more than most other abba songs i’ve heard (not that i got anything against abba)
In listening to all of these older albums. I have to say they really pack the good stuff in the beginnings
I mean the first song that a cappella comes in and you know you’re in for something so special.
