Autobahn by Kraftwerk

Raisa said she can make most of these sounds with her “tummy” after a good meal. I don’t disagree 😂 Barely getting through the first song (which is 22 minutes long!) think I’ll move on to a podcast instead this morning.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Jan 05 2024

Track 1: First song feels very 70s, I get Mick Jagger vibes immediately Track 1: Heavy bass line, bar piano vibes, screeching guitar music , would be good song for the opening scene of a movie showing the main character in different parts of his day Track 3:”Drive In Saturday” definitely a UK 🇬🇧 vibe, reminds me of Pink Floyd’s dark side of the moon with the dreamy synths and the upbeat echoey chorus , note the sax making a welcomed appearance “Panic in Detroit” referring to the battle between police and black panthers (I think? Activists?) during the 60s me thinks… cues in the soulful sister at the end of song to give it some “Motown” flavor “Time” wow , Pink Floyd’s The Wall shares so many elements here , but which came first? 🤔 and that guitar solo totally inspired some of bohemian rhapsody “Let’s spend the night” Billy Joel piano flavor

1999 by Prince
Jan 08 2024

Party likes it’s 1999! Can’t listen without moving my body all around , I can feel some of that George Clinton funk in this track, kind of haunting and nihilistic too… hedonistic ?? Idk 🤷🏻‍♂️, great track, but there’s definitely some Zen To extract from this gem 💎 “Delirious” … is this what “Bebop” is??? ¡¡¡Ok ok, did anyone else catch that sample??? You know the one that’s used by timbaland in that Aliyah song with the little baby giggling in the background !!! (PS it’s at the end of the song) “DMSR” intro reminds me of the level on teenage mutant mini turtles when you’re about to fight a big boss 🤷🏻‍♂️ Ok; so Andre 3000 and the “Love below album” , ummm didn’t fall too far from this one ☝🏼 RIP Prince, you nasty for that one! ☝🏼

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Jan 09 2024

🇧🇷 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿 Nice easy listening, very minimalistic if you’re in to that… definitely music to take a relaxing bath to 🧐 First non American album to win a Grammy , so there’s that for historical context. Lots of longing for unattainable love… welcome to Brazilian music 😂 That sax rips tho , and Joao has a nice voice overall, but I need some more percussion for my taste 🥁 tbh, if it wasn’t for the sax, it’d be hard to get thru the whole album as it’s a bit repetitive Overall Feels like a prescribed reading of a classic novel, yes important to place for historical relevance and your better for reading it, as this album launched the bossa nova genre, but wouldn’t be my first pick for bossa (feels played out) which morphed into my much preferred MPB (música popular brasileira). ✌️

Live At The Star Club, Hamburg by Jerry Lee Lewis
Jan 10 2024

So this is what cultural appropriation sounds like…check I’m looking at you Jack Harlow 😉 Although he’s from Louisiana … he also married his 13 yo cousin. I guess someone had to do it (not the pedo incest stuff) but to be the poster boy for the style lifting from the disenfranchised black south… Elvis too. Now that you know he’s a pedo, his songs def have a sinister undertone, right? Ugh 😣 that guttural cat call is the definition of CRINGE Thank god this album is only 20 minutes long 1 star because he said something cool about New Orleans otherwise he would’ve gotten 0 Maybe I’m acting too woke? I dunno. This album was cringy af. I’m glad that ride is over. But I guess I’ll say something positive …. He broke the cultural barrier making it cool for white kids to openly listen to black music…. But does music truly have a color? But he’s still an incestuous pedo

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Jan 12 2024

Pink mooooon is on its way…. Wow, not gonna lie, this album made me shed a few tears along the way , touching. This album reminds me of one of my all time favorites—Pink Floyd’s “Animals” which came out around the same time…also from the UK. Drake has a haunting and yet wholesome voice … definitely not an album I’d workout to but rather sit back with eyes closed to be taken on a ride… I think Danny Hasbun first put me on to this album, and I’ve been a fan ever since 👏🏼 Track 2: Guitar chord progressions are ahead of his time… I could feel some of the 90s northwest grunge being birthed out some of this vibe Song “Horn” , doesn’t it sound like RHCP “under the bridge” could seamlessly follow that riff at the end of the track? (I ended up trying it out… ehh so so ) “Things behind the sun” woah , this is my kind of jam …. This would sound so sick if covered by Metallica or System of a Down , ya feel me?? But it’s a great track just as it is…. Beautiful 🤩 His guitar work/chord progressions coupled with his vocals are soooo METAL 🤘🏼

Ten by Pearl Jam
Jan 15 2024

Thank goodness Spotify has lyrics for each of these songs 😂 “Even flow” and “Jeremy” have been modern enigmas to me since the 90s,, but alas! Today with the key 🔑 of lyrics I can decipher these cryptic tunes 🎼 I like this album, it kicked I’d the

Jan 16 2024

I never got into them before but always wanted to… thanks to this music club now I can call myself a fan of the arctic moneys. Rock/alternative from UK? ✅ From the late 90s to 2010s? ✅ Do they have a sound that’s undeniably their own?? Mmm debatable, but I’d give them another listen for sure After I finished this album , my Spotify recommended The Smiths and I’ve hooked ever since , so there’s that 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wild Gift by X
Jan 17 2024

Their duo singing punk style has such a B52s vibe (“ Rock Lobster” ) Not sure who was first …. (Actually Rock lobster came out 1979, so B52s win) This album is aight, it would really accompany an edgy and grainy skateboarding video really well. Or like during a roller derby match …. Or definitely in a tattoo shop If I’m in the mood for this style , I’ll put on the b52s because it’s more fun and danceable 🕺🏻 💃 🪩 🦞

Pornography by The Cure
Jan 18 2024

I don’t really like the cure, depressing and nihilistic … not the vibe I’m seeking out for listening enjoyment. I only got through 3 songs

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Jan 19 2024

“Lorelei” has a fun dreamy vibe, but it’s a bit off, which I think is on purpose…? It would be a good fit for a scene with Ryan Gosling acting like he has a subtle yet large potential for spontaneous violence (think “Driver”) 👨 🚗 🔪 “Pandora” is Enya on mushrooms 🍄 😜

Bossanova by Pixies
Jan 22 2024

Pixies are definitely my style, hard grungy rock with unpredictable and witty vocals . I found myself going back and listening to their older album , I love that song @where is my mind? I’ll be keeping the pixies in my rock vibes rotation from now on

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Jan 24 2024

Soundscape vibe; nothing profound. How did it make it to 1001 albums list?

Lam Toro by Baaba Maal
Jan 25 2024

Meh, its not bad by any means, just very African and not sure when I would listen to this album entirely … I like his newer work where he collabs with several other artists

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
Jan 26 2024

Hmmm , I’m 5 tracks into this album and finally there’s a “song” everything leading up to it sounded like trying to find music on AM radio 📻 “If I was 15 again I might like it” -Raisa If I was into heroin I’d definitely listen to this album

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Jan 29 2024

🎶 🎸 Like a blister on the sun 🌞 ok ok I dig it Rest of album , meh

Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons
Feb 02 2024

I listened to 4 songs, I like his folk country style. American music! 🇺🇸💪🏼

Feb 05 2024

Great hits from other albums, but in the context of 1968, they pale in comparison to the Beatles and other contemporary legends of the time

Blur by Blur
Feb 06 2024

Fun alternative rock from…..? 🥁 🥁 🥁 England! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🙄 They’re fun to listen to—fun energy. Kind of like the Pixies but English …. Their famous song 2.0 was a big hit at the time and rivaled Oasis in fandom and such… I remember watching a Netflix docu about how that song upended Oasis’s popularity and corner on the alternative scene. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’d come back to this …eventually.

Eagles by Eagles
Feb 09 2024

Easy listening! I love the vocals of lead singer , has a Native American vibe…. Eagles are great. I remember Uncle Jeff singing one of their songs “love will keep us together” at Sally and Mitch’s wedding in Pasadena…? Good times I’ll have to hover around with the Eagles some more before the next day’s album drops

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Feb 12 2024

Funk it up! Totally could feel the energy of that era…. I appreciated the “let’s all get along” vibes … this funk slaps and I can dig it ✊🏼

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Feb 13 2024

1960s turmoil and revolution!

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Feb 14 2024

Another one of his albums? I barely got through the first song and opted to switch to listen to a podcast instead since he was basically talking over a synth background …. I’m better served listening to a 20 minute book review or something

All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah
Feb 15 2024

Ok ok! This one is dedicated to Dana ☝🏼 I listened to a few songs …. Feels dated but it’s fun tho

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Feb 22 2024

Raisa said she can make most of these sounds with her “tummy” after a good meal. I don’t disagree 😂 Barely getting through the first song (which is 22 minutes long!) think I’ll move on to a podcast instead this morning.

Don’t do drugs and don’t go to prison 🎶

Shleep by Robert Wyatt
Feb 29 2024

I like his voice

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Mar 05 2024

One of my all time favs , it’s all about letting the vibe simmer …. Floyd does it best. They definitely had a message of how shitty the music industry is, but they still made it entertaining as heck. Timeless album 💿 ⭐️

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Mar 12 2024

Definitely a vibe … Goldilocks zone of just right

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Mar 13 2024

Americana , he’s got a wide range of talent and style, definitely a classic

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Mar 14 2024

I got through 2 songs, they kinda overplayed and whiny… if I want that vibe I’ll listen to the deftones as they make me head bang 🤘🏼 more … pumpkins are just melancholy without the metal

Mar 15 2024

Korn has such an iconic sound. This album put them ON. Those drums with the clicky sound are one of a kind in metal/rock.

The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk
Mar 20 2024

That’s why I love this app, would’ve never stumbled across this group … they’re very 80s , with a touch of the Smiths — I could totally hear where Maynard Keenan from Tool /Perfect Circle may have gotten some of his influence

Microshift by Hookworms
Jun 18 2024

Meh , wasn’t my cup of tea

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jan 21 2026

He really embodies that NOLA vibe … could imagine hearing him live when he was in his prime would’ve been amazing. He was the first big name to have a residency in Vegas in the 50’s. He’s one of the greats for sure 👍🏼

Low by David Bowie
Jan 23 2026

I love how he’s sampling really fun sounds and it’s only 1977!!!! He’s a pioneer in music — he’s not afraid to break the standard pop mold of “intro , bridge, chorus, bridge, chorus, outro “ Album starts strong but withers…

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Jan 26 2026

Yessss! I’m listening to “waiting for the sun” while making coffee and looking outside also waiting. Such an influential band whose tragic end instantly put them into classic status, raw unfiltered talent burned bright and quick , not too different from Kurt Cobain Enjoying this album so far , raw and loud blues and rock and roll 🤘

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Jan 28 2026

Reading a little bit about this album and the artist was interesting, he really promotes music from across the world from his town in England, where there was and still is lots of anti-immigration sentiment, so it’s cool that even in 1999 when this album came out this artist was eclectic in his sampling of music from around the world and how collectively we are one world, the album gave me Buddha bar vibes with lots of cool Indian vocalizations and percussion. I even heard some Brazilian Portuguese at the end of one of the songs which was cool, overall though there was a bit of a somber message as he ties in samples of news reports of nuclear testing, which is eerily timely as just today the doomsday clock was moved closer to midnight. Hoping more messages of peace unity continue to emerge to bring together the human race as ONE, so we may transcend our current limitations and live as the Gods we all—in peace, harmony and abundance ❤️

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Jan 30 2026

Zztop , drew heavy influence from blues greats including BB King, you see the name resemblance? True to form, that little ole band from Texas still rocks and a fun listen

Aja by Steely Dan
Feb 02 2026

Feb 03 2026

I’m assuming a lot of his songs were original and not covers? Mind blown if that’s that case , so many fresh sounds , very talented

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Feb 10 2026

A few classic tracks, fun, fight for your right to party, but feels very high school teen angst, found myself wanting more hip-hop that spoke of struggle and social justice so then I put on a KRS one album
