Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Sep 25 2024

Chain of Fools just hits right in the soul and is a can't skip song. This song does indeed make me feel like a natural woman. I'll never forget my first exposure to Aretha, which was the Blues Brother, and she's always been a great staple. Mo-town did so much for music; I don't think most people realize its impact.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Sep 26 2024

Cool start out with the bassline. Truly I don't mind it so far, good balance of sound production.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Sep 28 2024

I need this album on vinyl. It starts so soft and smooth. This is such an album you can listen to with people but at the same time by yourself and feel so many different emotions. I would walk around my house singing all day if I were Chris Martin. AND IT WAS ALLLLLL YELLOWWWWWW I feel like Coldplay is a band where you either like them or someone told you they weren't cool, so you pretend they aren't good. We Never Change is a song I've never heard, and I'm really happy I finally did. all in all 7.5/10

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Sep 29 2024

Someone protect this adorable little stoner at all costs. Truly music that you feel in the soul and spirit. It will be a sad sad day for country music when this man is no longer with us.

Pretenders by Pretenders
Oct 02 2024

It's Joan Jett and the runaways, but British. Tattooed Love Boys Kicked on, and suddenly, I was back playing Guitar Hero at my parent's house. Stop your sobbing, is a great like 80s driving down some desert highway with the top-down song. Brass in Pocket has been forever stuck in my head since I was like 10 and used to watch the VH1 "I Love the 80s" I can still see the music video playing The album starts to decline at the end; I think you just reach a point where the songs sound the same. The guitar on The Wait helps pick back up some of the momentum Overall 5.3/10

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
Oct 03 2024

I have heard this band's name but have never heard a single song, so this should be interesting. I thought it was Billy Corgan off the rip with those soft vocals coming in. "To here knows" when feels like a tame impala song with synth and vocal sounds. Cool sounds on "When you sleep" lead into "I only said" seamlessly. It's a decent album to have as my background music as I get admin tasks done. Reading their background and seeing how they started and who they inspired makes sense!

The Sensual World by Kate Bush
Oct 04 2024

Sigh, I already feel uneasy about listening to this album. It's probably the hardest listen so far of this challenge. This Woman's work was my only highlight, solely because they used it in an It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode. 1/10

Be by Common
Oct 05 2024

I am familiar with Common the actor and unfamiliar with Common the artist, so I am excited. The opening bass line is sweet, and this is a welcome change compared to the Kate Bush drivel I had to suffer through yesterday. God, I love 2000s hip-hop with a passion. It's just so good on so many layers: the beats, the lyrics, the tempo.

xx by The xx
Oct 08 2024

It's a staple album that I think many people know from the hits, myself included. Diving in while a lot of the sound stayed the same throughout the album i never got bored of it like similar albums I have listened to already. Female vocals are executed well, and the instrumental backing makes the song pleasurable for the ears. Basic space was a cool change-up in pacing compared to the songs that got us to this point.

Roxy Music by Roxy Music
Oct 09 2024

It's another band I have zero experience listening to, but let's give it a whirl. I listened through this album and really couldn't tell you anything I remember about it. It blends with some bands from the time period, but other than that. To the pit of Misery.

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter
Oct 11 2024

So far, this album really hasn't made much of an impression on me. It has some cool sound design, but I feel like this could blend in with any other sound from the time. It's not bad, but it's not something I would seek to put on.

S&M by Metallica
Oct 13 2024

Always a great one, loved this album growing up cause i thought it was so cool to combine two things that shouldn't go together.

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Oct 14 2024

I mean....its an album and its a popular one just not my cup of tea with the cadence and vocals.

Oct 16 2024

Its like the who mixed with the kinks and the monkees. It was cool hearing Kick out the Jams originally thinking it was a RATM song and not a cover.

Shleep by Robert Wyatt
Oct 20 2024

Overall, it was definitely interesting; I didn't listen to the whole album. It reminded me of the Beatles or Pink Floyd when they would "go weird" moments.

In Utero by Nirvana
Oct 22 2024

Much like sublime Nirvana is one of those bands that I feel like we got a glimpse at something amazing and unfortunately it was ended before reaching its full potential......but at the same time is that express window what makes it so impactful?

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Oct 23 2024

It's a good choice for the mood I'm in today, I just want something nice and relaxed in the background. Take 5, having been used in so many different pieces of media, was welcoming and warm. Overall a solid album that I wouldn't hate owning on vinyl

Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
Oct 24 2024

Please stop making me listen to this man.

Roots by Sepultura
Oct 27 2024

Well, this definitely starts off super heavy and definitely understand why they are as popular as they are

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Oct 29 2024

Just not a fan of his music and I cant tell 100% why, just one of those underwhelming voices and music combos for me

Boston by Boston
Oct 31 2024

The spaceship is an upside down guitar and i never knew this until the internet told me. Foreplay/longtime is such a cool song but it bothers me at times cause the beginning is so sick and the bass line is so fat and then it just disappears

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Nov 03 2024

Jenny was a friend of mine is such a great track and I feel like it gets overshadowed cause this album is full of bangers.

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Nov 09 2024

Opening right up with Highway star has me wanting to play rockband again! A solid band for the time such a shame they were put into the smoke on the water box

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Nov 13 2024
Horses by Patti Smith
Nov 20 2024
Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Dec 06 2024
More Specials by The Specials
Jan 07 2025

Kinda cool to hear like the early influences of what seems like ska, did get a little repetitive

Dust by Screaming Trees
Jan 08 2025

This felt really slow and didnt have anything that really stood out, kind of reminded me of bad radiohead.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Jan 09 2025

Of course, the last album I listened to I talked about bad Radiohead, and now I am given a Radiohead album to spite me. But here we go. Couldnt finish it.
