This album (and Simon & Garfunkel) remind me of my mom which is a good thing and deserves high rating! Aside from nostalgia, its just a pleasant album to listen to. I like their vocals and the acoustic vibe.
Yep. This is very good. Rock. Me likey.
I just love Nick Cave. He's a brooding outrageous man that makes crazy music that evokes a lot of emotion. I particularly love this album because of how versatile it is.
I love this album. Nick Drake had such a beautiful & deeply sorrowful sound (and life). Wish we had more time with him. It's a bleak one but... impactful.
I'm torn with this album. I liked the songs on here that I had never heard before, particularly the first two. I don't know if it's because I've just heard "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody" way too many times - I think I just prefer the more grunge/rock & roll than the screeching ballads. I would probably listen to a few of these off the album, but not the entire album again.
Caught some Dead vibes, some long and boring blues jam energy. I dig the xylophone. I didn't hate it, I think the diversity of the song style didn't create any sort of cohesion to the album so I just couldn't stay interested. I don't even know if that makes sense but .. neither did this album.
This was a great album and it reminded me how much I love this style of metal. It's melodic, dark, upbeat, with insane musicality, and Ozzy is one of a kind. There's enough grit to keep you interested and in that metal framework but a nice ballad or two rounds it out. So good!
Listening to an entire album of the Ramones is a slog because they all pretty much sound the same. But the Ramones are a ridiculous group of people that made some memorable, high-energy songs.
It's Elvis. He's iconic & influential. Some bangers on here (ahem, covers). Misogynist, abusive, groomer ... more exploration on if we (or can we) separate the art from the artist?
I liked this! Fun, good background music. I liked the weird mashup of genres and although I don't feel like any of the songs were particularly memorable, I wouldn't turn if off it the album started playing again.
I sat with this album a few times and it really made me examine my indifference with Dylan. I mean.. the harmonica is a divisive tool. In the beginning, it felt overpowering, but by "Temporary Like Achilles" I had acquiesced. Moreover, this album in general really is fantastic. I think it captures why Dylan was and is so popular and influential. He's an incredible writer & storyteller, and his music feels powerful and almost spiritual at times. I'm definitely not always in the mood for Dylan, but I feel like I may be more after really listening to this album.
Nick Cave: “I’m forever near a stereo saying, ‘What the fuck is this garbage?’ And the answer is always the Red Hot Chili Peppers.’”
Besides the fact that the Chili Peppers are overrated, I try to not contribute to anything that benefits abusive men like Anthony Kiedis, Flea, or Chad Smith.
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would! The songs that I didn't recognize were interesting and deep - makes me want to learn more about the Beach Boys & their history.
This was a quick listen and I actually really enjoyed it despite my initial pre-judgement. There's some really cool sounds and little nuggets that stray away from being boring / predictable. You can tell how influential he was for future rock & roll. Some songs I wouldn't intentionally listen to again, but there are a few I would.
This put an instant smile on my face. Great beats, fun, will listen to again.
Maybe I've been wrong all these years, maybe U2 really IS this powerful, creative force with interesting, memorable songs.
If that's the case, this album is not a great representation of it.
For me, it's boring and generic, but non-offensive. Something you'd happily listen to during a long elevator ride, perhaps.
What is slightly offensive is the sheer arrogance of this group to pump out mediocre music while gaslighting people into thinking its exceptional because they say it is. From Bono "in our heads we've written 11 singles for this record". As the kids say, are the 11 singles in the room with us?
They can't all be winners and I know U2 has done some things, but this one just wasn't it for me.
Loved it. Great beats, ska vibes, interesting songs - absolutely classic!
I bet being at this show was legendary! There's only so much blues I can listen to, even if its B.B. King.
Familiar, fun, fast, classic. Thoroughly enjoy. Its not something I'd put on intentionally, but I had fun listening to the album.
I'm not sure why I would have to listen to this before I died but since I couldn't make it past the first disc, I think I'll be okay.
There's some really good stuff here addressing real issues that are just as prevalent if not more today. Its powerful and its also just good rap (IMHO). I have a hard time giving anything over 3 stars with misogynistic lyrics & most rap is a tough one with those, this album included!
I don't, and I probably will continue to not, actively listen to Pearl Jam, but I feel that this album is objectively really good, even though I generally can't understand what Eddie Vedder is saying. The song titles really connected some dots!
Comforting & lovely, can happily have in the background and not feel overstimulated. I like Paul's style and I think his sound is timeless!
I do like Santana, and I know this album is good, I just really don't love it and there is nothing that would make me come back to it.
Why do men think they can write about having sex with underage girls in their memoirs like it's somehow admirable for them to admit and reflect on? But hey, "they've changed" or "it was a different time". They haven't, it wasn't. This album is fine out of context - if I was being forced to listen to an Iggy Pop album I would have picked Lust For Life but that's just my personal taste.
Meh. Boring. I don’t care enough to research.
Yes please. Funky and soulful - will listen to again & again!
Really digging the funky disco vibes. Will listen to again!
Long live Queen!! What's not to love. Queen is incredible and one of my favorite bands ever. This album is great!!! More!!
Classic Nirvana - these songs are all so nostalgic and just good!
This was a fun album - I think I recognized Common People. I liked it more than I thought I would - fun & interesting. Some of the songs blended together but it was overall pleasant to listen to and have in the background.
Could listen to this album again & again.
This was fun! I liked the variety of style and I'll definitely listen to again.
Creative and whimsical. I love Bjork
