Top to bottom great album. Don't like them man behind the music, but that's a different issue.
A classic. Hugely important bridge from R&B to rock. Great tunes, great voice.
Best Dylan album.
Important turning point album for the Beatles. One of my all time favorites.
Not a fan of heavy metal.
Not a fan of heavy metal.
Musically 1 star, lyrically 4 stars.
Love jazz organ Jimmy Smith is the man.
Interesting, lots of tracks. Varied genres. Creative.
Meh. 3 strong tracks. Rest is filler. Easy pop.
How did I miss this album. Didn't know there was a genre for acoustic folk-punk. I like it.
Raw. Powerful. Strong. Good pulse, instrumentation. Cohesive. Not my genre (too dark, too much scream sound, distorted guitars not my thing), but I liked it a bunch.
Coupla classics.
One of my all time favorite albums. Bono writes beauruful lyrics that are both deeply personal and have universal meaning and appeal. Edge's guitar playing is outstanding, and Bono's voice siars. Where the Streets have No Name, I Still Haven't Found..., With or Without You are all perfect songs. Deeply moving, heartfelt, musically engrossing, pulling you in, but always the giving prominence to and supporting Bono's lyrics and the powerful lyrics. Top 10 for me
Two iconic songs do not a great album make.
First listen at age 61. Had been put off by the offensive cover. Liked it. The bond rocks throughout.
Never listened to them before. Great stuff. A little bit psychedelic. Strong musically. I think zo like their earlier stuff. A bit more committed to psychedelic.
First listen. Like the pulse. Industrial/electronic drums and percussion works for me. Appealing vocals. Like the chord progressions.
So glad that a few of the great jazz recordings made the list, like this classic by Monk. UT why not more? So many deserving artists and albums.
Full on fast heavy metal with horrific lyrics sung by a a screaming toad. Songs like Jailbait leave one wondering...
All girl ska punk with limited musical ability and a tits out cover. Pass.
Never heard of the band. Mellow, psych-rock, elusive lyrics, easy on the ears.
Scandinavian Electronica with vocals. The music is a 4, the lyrics and singing is a 2.
I tried, but just not digging it.
Classic, British glam rock, just some guitars and a drummer, 3 for the music, 2 for the lyrics. Rounding up for the knuckle art.
How does this make a top 1000 list?
Imperial Bedroom is my favorite Elvis album, but this is a must album too.
They’re the mic dominators, the rhyme creators, Run-DMC shook the globe, no imitators. From Hollis, Queens, to the world they reign, When they step on the stage, they ignite the flame. No glitter, no gimmicks, just beats and bass, They brought the hardcore sound straight to your face. Adidas on their feet, stripes shining so bright, When the record starts to spin, they control the night. They broke down walls with a rock-rap blend, Changed the game forever, set the new trend. Respect to the roots, they keep it alive, Every rhyme that they dropped made the culture thrive. So raise your hands high, let the rhythm decree, No kings more supreme than Run-DMC.
Bad man.
What does a "soft shoe banana" mean?
Are we not annoying, we are DEVO? Too much gimmick for me.
Liked it. The music feels weighty, in a good way, with lush synths.
I appreciate the effort. The music, not so much.
Janis rocks this raw and powerful blues rock anthem to the 60s. Love her or hate her, you've gotta respect her power. Crumb's cover has not aged well, imo.
Uneven Mayfield funk. Just ok for me.
I wanted to really like the entire album, but really it was just a few songs. Punk is just not in my DNA I guess.
Heart of Gold starts off the conversation as one of the great songs of its era, musically and lyrically. Many other strong tracks. A Man Needs a Maid must be understood in the context of his personal health difficulties at that time. Torn between 4 and 5. 5 is reserved for albums that I would listen to over and over. This doesn't quite get there for me.
Never knew Zappa did instrumental jazz fusion. 4 stars for a taking the chance and putting out a decent album.
First full listen. I was afraid of this album as a kid. Love it as a 60 year old adult. So smart, honest, daring. And good!
One of the divisive albums I have seen. Lots of 5s, lots of 2s and 1s. I'm a fan of his sound, don his vocals, and appreciate his lyrics. Scoring it a 4.
Not deserving of the 1001 list
Game changer.
I wanted to love it, but just liked okay.
Fun global mush mash. Unfortunate he didn't give proper credits.
Did not like heavy metal when I was younger. This did not move the needle.
Fun. Ruben Blades is a man of many talents.
Those funky, punky, exuberant Scots. Not my style, but I can see the appeal. Album ties together.
