1001 Albums Summary

Not my vibes man, too shouty

Something I was well aware of but never listened to as an album. So a classic but new at the same time. Some beautiful songs on here. I can’t help but think that on a list of greatest albums of all time this is only an average 3 stars though

Whilst this clearly has some of those classic defining songs on it. My feeling is that this isn’t as revolutionary as people think it is. It’s a great album no question. But is it a sea change in music I’m not so sure

Just a bit silly isn’t it. There are some great songs here but the whole rock opera thing is lost on me. Maybe with the stage show that this is famous for itd have more meaning. Not their best work

I had a few days of classic rock in a row and this was refreshing as hell. Such a vibe loved it

This sounds like the genesis of lots of music I like but I do not understand how this is even on this list. It’s flat and uninteresting and so much more so than REM or Nirvana which I hear in here

Certainly has a vibe but kinda forgettable except for a few choice songs

Such a good album maintains a consistent vibe whilst being batshit insane in places. I think my first 5 star I have such a soft spot for it

This took a few attempts to get into but once I found the right mood and weather it really hit me at how thoughtful and heartfelt it is

This album of leftover Radiohead songs is better than most albums. Weird, interesting and vibes throughout

This was great, refreshing, energetic way different from how I remember it when I originally heard it. Not as doof doof as I thought either.

This was so much better than I expected. Operatic witty and emotional

They achieved synchronicity for sure, it’s tight as hell. Alas I found it samey and repetitive

More doof doof than Fat of the land which is much more my speed. Find it really hard to get into anything as doofy as this

This is a lot of fun but it's the same as Machine Head and i don't really get why a live album is on this list?

This was ace it does not sound like 1969

Incredibly famous and probably dissapointed because I expected more of it. Jack Bruce bass will always be nice though

Slow smooth melancholy funky

Never heard of this but a really nice listen. Paints such a great picture. Reminds me of those Guy Garvey radio show things.

The divine comedy might be the biggest revelation for me in this list (so far). I never got it before. But now I am getting Geordie Greep, Alex Turner and Gareth Campesinos… which he always said but I never got it before

I hear there’s a lot of Bowie on this list, and I think it’s safe to say I’ve never really listened to albums of his work. I found this kind of wild and out there. Some bangers but also some weirdness like it’s finding its feet

First song thought this was 5 stars, second song thought it was 4, by halfway through I think it's a 3

I know that I have enjoyed this album in the past, even in the last few years. But it just did not vibe for me today. That makes it hard to rate? Down the middle 3 I guess? Naw 4 because I know it can slam but it's so specific

It’s kind of wistful and chill but I’m not sure I get it

I kinda like the skits and narrative thread on this but I’m just not into the beats

This one grew on me. What can i say though excited for Graceland

This was really good. Sonically interesting and inventive. Just not quite a 5 due to a lack of grippiness

Kanye is a wanker. This album is good. Shame. Do I rate it based on how much I hate the guy, how good the album is?

No idea of the kind of night life this guy has but it’s not the same as mine. Some of the lyricism on here is dark and witty

This was much better than I expected. I only recognised cult of personality and that’s only from GTA.

Makes me feel like I’m a detective solving crimes and smoking cigarettes. Suddenly I am clocked around the head with a hammer and in the ensuing wooziness I stumbled downstairs and into the street. It’s raining, the feeling of my wet woollen suit on my skin disgusts me. I peel the suit off and lay in the gutter unaware of what has just happened.

Got into this more than I thought but after a few songs I kinda lost interest. Nice soundscapes and whimsy but yeah it' meh

Very hard to rate this. I find it deeply reminiscent of nights at modern art galleries watching stutters black and white films. Artistically fascinating, musically bewildering

Kind of exactly what I needed today. Warm heartfelt and fun

There are so many 70s rock bands on this list. This was another average record by one of them

Neither as good as what came before or what came after. I don’t really get it

I’m sure I’ve tried to listen this before and not got it. But this time it gripped me it’s got passion, heart, energy and anger and I loved it. Will listen again

When I was at school my friends told me this was cool. I tried it and didn’t like it because I liked music with guitars and musicians making it. I was excited to try it again with a more grown up mind. But I think it is just ok after all an impressive technical feat but musically not for me

This kind of music genuinely stresses me out

Revolutionary and lyrically brilliant with a lot of energy and feeling but ultimately samey never hitting the highs of rolling stone

Cannot believe this came out in 1974 but not what I’d call a pleasant listen for me

I’m very aware of Feli and his influence but this may be the first time i actually sat down and consciously listened to an album. What a treat.

I don’t like metal. But this is groovy and I like that

I’d call this middling indie but it made me feel things

Damn this was so much better than I thought it would be. I’m not an electronic guy but this is varied enough to keep me interested

It’s nice to listen to this whole record and appreciate some of the more obscure tracks that sing in their own right and in the context of this wonderfully meandering album

She’s got some bangers and soaring moments but it’s overwhelmingly fine

The energy on this is crazy but it’s also badly recorded and badly played and the songs and sort of ok. But I like energy

I don’t like metal and this isn’t nearly as groovy as roots. It’s a no from me

Think this album is pretty incredible not really like anything else I hear

I always thought Audioslave where a bad Rage Against the Machine but it turns out they were a good Soundgarden

I’m familiar with Elbow, I quite like Elbow, and find Guy Garvey’s voice captivating. Yet even I scoffed at this being on the list. But after a focused listen this really is very good. Not the best thing on this list but deserving of being here

This is just the most vibes album ever made isn’t it

I’m just not sure I get this. That 80s sound really grates me I totally see Prince’s skill as a musician but then the music is just a bit empty for me

Some of this is really nice. I recognise a single song from it and I assume that is the famous one because it’s actually quite good. But I found the rest of it quite forgettable

Such a good album vibes beats and soul. I can only mark it down because it’s kinda samey, but that may just be my opinion on rap

I've never listened to this but Golden years might be one of my favorite ever tracks. What can I say the rest is also great

I see how this is influential to psych and British rock but I’m genuinely not sure I get it. If there wasn’t the myth of Jim Morrison I wonder what would be different.
