1001 Albums Summary

A well produced album with some interesting instrumental aspects. The first songs were too much for me but after If.. I quite enjoyed the journey. His newest release describe the use of his music well: its music for a boring Sunday afternoon.

What a powerful woman and a great artist.

I was never a big Bowie fan. Still it’s impressive how transformative he was. Aladdin Sane is a bit of a mess. My favourite song is the most commercial: The Jean Genie. The “crack actor” is a powerful rocksong, also fun. I wouldn’t have recognised Bowie here.

From good to trivial lyrics on boring voices and sounds. The genre should be called trivial rock. Everything sounded familiar to me. I was simply bored, didn’t listen to the end of the album. Nothing took me in. Live would be ok so I gave it a 2 - an easy dance to free the head.

Good old punk rock. I loved it.

Great artist. What a voice to start with. He can handle such a wide spectrum of musical styles. Closing for example hip hop beats with harmonica. After some more experimental songs a relaxing soft alternative rock song.. Amazing! I had a great ride.

A lot of solid rock songs. For my ears not one uncomfortable sound. But the album doesn’t seem to be curated - he went all in. Less would be more here. Could be an interesting short album with a careful selection of songs and song fragments. Like this it’s nothing outstanding and never ending.

Not my style of music. So I’m the wrong person to rate it’s quality.

I’d love to dance with them in a club. I listened to the album while chilling on the couch what was not ideal - around chemical beats I got a bit bored and quite happy about the following psychedelic, calmer pieces. In the right setting every piece is brilliant.

Dark. Depressed. Lost. Beautiful.

A wide spectrum of exciting sounds, cool and experimental music underlined with relatively boring vocals.

A very talented band. Crazy lyrics. The more melodic parts are beautiful. Orion is amazing. My teenage ears loved it. For my adult ears trash metal is too intense. To not disappoint my teenage me I gave it a 4.

Minimalistic, repetitive sounds underlining trivial rhymes. Talking about the daily live and struggles of the 90s in the US and gangster glamour. Not annoying. But not interesting neither.

Talented musicians. Some beautiful songs, some annoying songs, some in between - purely subjective. Naked eye is my favourite.

It the music of my early teenage years. Listening to them awakes that feeling in me I had back then - an immense energy that wants to unfold in the core of my body. There is something light and easy in the music. It welcomes us to shake our body and scream out loud the repetitive parts of the lyrics. They appear pubertal but in fact are deep and fundamental. After a few songs I nonetheless became bored and needed endurance. My teenage me would give it a 5, now I’m tending to 3

What a masterpiece in it’s original composition. In a review I read he is pathetic - maybe yes, but in a beautifully emotive way that never becomes annoying over the whole length of the album. High quality music and an amazing voice, purely enjoyable. I really like the albums to be short to be listened in one piece and experienced as the piece of art it is. I strongly disliked the deluxe versions I found on youtube. But as soon as I created a playlist with the original songs I was at ease and fully enjoyed.

Deep, melancholic sounds.

The first song! Weyyyyy!! The rest of the album is soso. I tried a few times but never made it till the end.

Probably there are some good aspects about that album but today every song is just noisy.
