1001 Albums Summary

Psychedelic Rock isn't a genre I'm terribly familiar with, most of my experience is with the Flaming Lips and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. That said, I can see how this album formed as a sort of primordial DNA for the genre. The version I ended up listening to is the stereo version, which with some light research I discovered is not the ideal. I could tell, as the stereo version.... did not sound great. That aside, I enjoyed listening to one of the early founders of a genre I have dabbled in. I very much love getting to the source of things and it was interesting to see how the genre started and then later evolved.

Fucking incredible. It was amazing listening to this piece of rap history for the first time. It’s awesome listening to an album after being a fan of the genre and realizing where a lot of your favorite artists and albums originated.

What an outstanding blend of jazz, psychedelic rock and other genres. The call and response of City, Country, City is gorgeous, this whole album was a blast from start to finish.

The only good white rappers

While I understand how influential this album was, both from a listening and album art perspective; I can't help but feel like it hasn't aged as well as it should have. Part of it stems from being able to find works that have built off this album that are better, another is I just don't find it interesting sound-wise. If I heard this in 1979 I'm sure I would have lost my mind but it really feels dated in 2026.

Hell yeah

It’s interesting listening to an album from a group that absolutely hated each other. Coming from the same scene that brought us Nirvana, it’s easy to hear where they came from. I’m tired while writing this. Anyway. Enjoyed overall

Once again the only good white rappers. Absolutely amazing album
