The Bends by Radiohead

The best band on the planet 10/10.

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Apr 06 2026

Could’ve been released today, thought it sounded current. Powerful passionate vocals. First time I’ve listened in full to a Nina album. Enjoyed it and it has a replayability element. My benchmark, I would purchase the vinyl but not a 5/5. More like a 4.3/5.

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Apr 07 2026

Can appreciate Stevie’s talent but not really for me. Too sugary beige and even the monster tune Superstition which is a banger couldn’t save it for me. 2.5/5.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Apr 08 2026

Not for me which disappoints as for first time hearing an album by Steely Dan which are held in high regards by some. Liked the opening track which is a big tune from then, but sorry, the on, it was very middle of the road and beige. Struggled to get through it. 1/5.

Apr 09 2026

First time on a Aretha album and must say really impressed, really soulful and passionate, obviously what an an amazing voice and the album held my attention throughout and it has a decent replayability about it. 4.6/5.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Apr 10 2026

Quality stuff. Much better than I expected. Great opening tune. 4/5

Apr 12 2026

Probably my favorite Pogues album. Can’t ignore their album Rum…. But this more polished with a handful of bangers. Unique sound that until then hadn’t broke through. Great album highly recommended. 4.6/5

Apr 13 2026

Not blown away but a nice listen. Can't see me returning to this in a hurry. However better than I thought. Wrongly assumed beige slow ramblings but actually well crafted tunes. Nice new experience. 2.5/5

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Apr 14 2026

This fella is a genius. So unique and different. One of his better albums if possible as he’s done nothing weak. Some great riffs, and indescribable sounds with JW’s falsetto. This has a higher replayability factor. Tracks like the grandiose Weep Themselves To Sleep, riff-tastic Sixteen Saltines, funky I’m Shakin. There’s enough big tunes to make this a top album 4.6/5.

Moss Side Story by Barry Adamson
Apr 15 2026

Big fan of Barry’s follow up to this and looking forward to this. Still got the chaotic multilayered style which is hard to describe. It’s theatrical and feels you’re in a movie or multiple movies. Liked the all over the shop approach very different and would revisit. 3.9/5

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Apr 16 2026

Have always been aware but not had the chance of a full album. Thought these were always on the fringe pop side of electronic and the trip hop scene that was around at the time. However rated this, really cool, the beats and production quality and Tracy’s vocals. 4.4/5

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Apr 17 2026

Decent new experience for something which is not my bag. Decent vocals as expected from Dusty, think the cover tracks were the strongest which may tell you..!!?? 3/5.

Debut by Björk
Apr 18 2026

Still sounds as great today as it did when released. Got to be her best. Unique. 5/5.

I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Apr 19 2026

Really personal, passionate melancholy, but an amazing vocal and very powerful. Not one I’d play on repeat but a really good album, one to revisit. 4.2/5.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Apr 20 2026

My first proper listen to a Joni album. Some great songwriting but not sure it’s for me. If this landed today, not sure it or Joni would have been such a big deal. 2.4/5.

All Directions by The Temptations
Apr 21 2026

Great new experience this album. A lot more funky and soulful than expected which was a surprise and glad it was pop. With a coupe of big tunes on here. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. 4.1/5.

School's Out by Alice Cooper
Apr 22 2026

Was expecting an average mediocre 70’s rock album….. Big tune to kick this album off and one of a couple I know. Never listened to this before and better than expected but still a bit of an average rock album from that time to me.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Apr 23 2026

Stunning. Didn’t think much would match Takk. Great album. 5.

One World by John Martyn
Apr 24 2026

First full sitting of a John Martyn album. Must say so much better than expected. Quality chilled stuff and this fella can sing. 4.2/5.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Apr 25 2026

Not my goto but a decent change and much better than expected. Less jazz. Not sure about the replayability tho. 2.1//5.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Apr 26 2026

Every time you put this on, just takes you to another place. Unique. 4.1/5

Apr 27 2026

Struggling to understand why he’s such a big deal. Live the most dullest. However this surprised. Better than expected and will go back to these. 4.3/5

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Apr 28 2026

Sludgy and heavy. For me it’s all about those first five albums and this is a banger. 5

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Apr 29 2026

At the height of their powers. Still one of the best live albums ever. Banger 5.

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
May 01 2026

Separate the art from the artist. Yes, an absolute plum and it’s not the Smiths, however a decent album, and well worth a listen. Enjoyed it 3.6/5.

Doolittle by Pixies
May 02 2026

Totally unique for its time. Still sounds fresh and could be new today. Really rate this. 5

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp
May 03 2026

What an album, love this. Banger.

Jack Takes the Floor by Ramblin' Jack Elliott
May 04 2026

Thanks for the experience, not knowing what to expect, glad it was more folk than country. Not my bag tho. 1.5/5

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
May 05 2026

Rated this at the time. A great debut and something a bit different in the heavy/metal genre. Some big tunes if the odd track has become a bit cringe. 4.5/5.

Marquee Moon by Television
May 06 2026

Influential still sounding current. Great album never get bored of playing this. 5

May 07 2026

Not sure this has aged well. Some big tunes and although I won’t revisit better than expected.

Fun House by The Stooges
May 08 2026

Did Iggy invent punk?! Brilliantly raw and exciting, primal and visceral. Loved it and high replayability .5

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
May 09 2026

Not sure why/how this is supposed to be such a big deal and album. Feels a softer nu metal although I’m probably not their target audience. For the youth I get it and there are a few big pop catchy tunes on here. First proper listen got through it. 3/5.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple
May 10 2026

Want to like this more expecting an easier listen. Although very clever, a bit experimental and her commentary is decent. Not sure I’ll need to rush back.

Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp
May 11 2026

Quite chilled and not as dance’y disco as was expected from their more recent stuff. However really enjoyable, classy. 3.6/5.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
May 12 2026

Didn’t realise Janis was in a band before. Surprised how good this is as a first listen to me. Raw, bluesy and still holds up. 4.1/5

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
May 13 2026

Not a big reggae fan, however this surprised. Only ever heard the greatest hits. This was decent and will get played again.

Ingenue by k.d. lang
May 14 2026

Although clearly quality and got skills felt like trudging through treacle. Not sure. 2

May 15 2026

More lyrical than musical but really enjoyed this. Seems a proper rapper. 4

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
May 17 2026

I need to educate myself more on this old traditional jazz. Not fully on board.

The Bends by Radiohead
May 18 2026

The best band on the planet 10/10.

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
May 19 2026

A new experience. Not sure this is for me, although can appreciate the talent and skills of this lady. 1.5/5

Tigermilk by Belle & Sebastian
May 20 2026

Can’t get into these. Wishy washy 1/5

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Jun 05 2026

My first experience of Parliament. What the funk have I been doing with my life..!!! 4.5/5 as I’m still coming to terms with this.

The Doors by The Doors
Jun 06 2026

Iconic and a great debut. Some really big tunes on here. Even if they are a little overrated I rate this and a strong 4.5/5.

Live / Dead by Grateful Dead
Jun 07 2026

Went in with an open mind as not familiar with their work. It was a struggle on first listen, after persevering I did get it but can’t see myself going back as found it a bit meat n potatoes 1.5/5

Jun 08 2026

Englands Dylan but better. At the time there was nothing like it. Refreshing. Great lyricist and his politics are spot on. Rated this 4/5

Achtung Baby by U2
Jun 09 2026

Probably their last great album before they became a shadow of thier former selves and that lead singer…..oh dear..!!! However this is a solid 5.

On The Beach by Neil Young
Jun 10 2026

As a newcomer and as we had Neil headline Glasto I did a deep dive and started with this as heard it was one of his better. I wasn’t disappointed, really enjoyed this if a little more softer/grown up than expected from the godfather of grunge. 4.2/5.

Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson
Jun 11 2026

Better than expected, although could go back to this. Heavily produced and sound very 80’s maybe that’s where it should stay as a little dated 3/5.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jun 16 2026

Cool rapper, better than expected although of its time. One unlikely to go back to. 2.5/5

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Jun 17 2026

Late to the party with these. Pioneers. All over their stuff now. This is decent. 4/5

Haunted Dancehall by The Sabres Of Paradise
Jun 19 2026

Can’t review as didn’t listen.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jun 20 2026

10/10 no question. One of the best of ‘91 if not the 90’s. Sympathy one of the best pop tunes of all time.

Headquarters by The Monkees
Jun 21 2026

Always thought these were a novelty act, trying to emulate those Liverpudlians. They’ve a few bangers but not for me. Prefered their tv programme. 1

Jun 22 2026

An impressive output which dilutes how good these are. They’ve delivered so much of late hard to absorb however rated this album and the first bought from these. Wildfires 4.3/5

The Next Day by David Bowie
Jun 24 2026

Prefer everything pre ‘83, but this is Bowie so no criticism here. A legend and this does have a handful of strong tunes. 3.9/4

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Jun 25 2026

Classic beige American stuff. Guess they were big, imported and influential back in the day. Average stuff for me. 2.5/5

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Jun 26 2026

Really refreshing and sounding new when landed. Although their folllow up is better this give Damon’s other band a run for its money. Rated this. 4.2/5

Low by David Bowie
Jun 27 2026

Game changer. Nothing like it then or now. A legend 5/5.
