AC/DC Live is really the only album you need to hear from AC/DC. Highway to Hell is a great song. There are other good songs. But in my opinion, after the hits, most of AC/DC albums are basically filler. I would listen to different records by them before I put this one back on. Again, AC/DC Live, Back in Black or greatest hits is where most people will be happy.
This is a seminal NY hip hop record. Biggie has a flow that is untouched by anybody, just so smooth. There's a reason he's considered one of the best ever with such a small amount of output. Plus, this one has hits that transcend generations, Juicy and Big Poppa can be played in any age bracket outside of boomers and you will get the reaction you expect. Only issue with this record, and most 1990s hip hop album is all the skits. I don't think I need those.
I don't really like Patti Smith. This album is good, has some powerful songs on there but she doesn't raise any emotion for me. It's fine.
I own Parallel Lines on vinyl. This is an all time amazing albums. Is it punk? not really. Is it new wave? Maybe a little. What it is, is a tour de force that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Coming in hot with Hanging on the Telephone, and then going directly into One Way or Another to hit you in the face. I don't know if Debbie Harry was the queen of punk rock or the Goddess of new wave, but either way, this record shows why Blondie were one of the most important bands of this era. Oh yeah, and Heart of Glass is on this one too.
I think this another very overrated record. I know that it's one of the big early punk releases but I don't think the Pistols deserve as much credit as they get. I would prefer more people celebrated Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers, and The Clash as royalty more than the Pistols. Another big problem I have is Johnny Rotten grew into the worst version of himself he possibly could have been and I would prefer to not hear about him anymore.
No one is more shocked than me at how much I enjoyed this. Every time I heard Rush prior to this listen, my thought was it sounded like awesome music with the vocals being done by a drowning cat. But I really liked this. This is an excellent album full of complex music with unreal execution. I need to go buy this one on vinyl now. And this is shocking because I thought for sure this was going to be a 1 star record for me.
This is a fun psychedelic album mixed with funky horns and great grooves. I really only knew War for the hits. Cisco Kid, Lowrider, Spill the wine, but this whole album really delivered. Pleasant surprise. I mean I thought I would like it, but was surprised for how great it was.
A friend of mine once said that it's hard to believe that Green Day has two of the most important albums in our lifetimes, 20 years apart from one another. I do not disagree with him. Dookie kicked off the goofy pop punk movement of the 90s and then American Idiot went back to punk rocks and told a story of how the government loves to fuck us all over. This album his filled with hits and scathing commentary of the country we were at the time of release. What is mind blowing is now, in 2026, how much worse it is and maybe we are ready for a sequel? American Idiot 2: MAGA edition. I'd buy it. I'd listen to it. Anyways, this record is amazing and should be listened by everybody.
I think this is pinnacle Eric Clapton. Better than any solo album, Cream, Bonnie and Delany. Why? Probably because of Duane Allman truthfully. But I mean this thing is packed with great tunes. Bell Bottom Blues is ridiculously underrated and deserves as much love as some of the other tunes on here. obviously Layla is the cornerstone, and I appreciate that they stuck it as the penultimate song on here. My only issue is that may overshadow how great that Little Wing cover is on this album. It's a great listen. Highly suggest.
I found this very boring
I liked it, but it became very repetitive
An album that rose from the ashes of Nirvana. Best foo fighters album and monkey wrench is such an awesome song
Hot buttered Soul is another one that I already owned. It's just this masterpiece of funk/soul that makes you feel good the entire listen. The orchestration mixed with that guitar riff on Walk on By is such a cool juxtaposition that makes the opener song stand out. Whole album is filled with interesting sound combos and of course tied to that deep and soulful voice of Isaac Hayes. Great record.
Jack White could never do anything again musically and Seven Nation Army would be a legacy better than most. This is the fourth album from the Stripes and there is a reason people who are fans would argue that this is their best. So many great songs on here. Ball and Biscuit is just a crushing blues jam. Meg gets the vocals on In The Cold, Cold Night and provides a mood change. Hardest Button to Button is another masterpiece. Be like the squirrel girl, be like the squirrel.
The Pogues are always the first band I think of when I think of Irish music. This album is a good indicator of that being the truth. Traditional Irish sounds throughout the record, including couple of traditional songs like The Rocky Road to Dublin and the Irish Rover being done on this one. A Fairytale in New York is one of the greatest songs ever written. Felt a little odd listening to it in May but was still quite happy to to hear it on the way to work today.
The only good parts of this album are when Fred Durst is not on the mic. The bonus track of Rollin' with DMX, Redman, and Method Man Would be so good if there was also no Fred Durst. I also think they had an internal contests to see how many times you can say fuck on one album. It's horrendous.
Adele set the world on fire with this record. Full of huge hits that seemingly everyone knows. Rollin' in the Deep and Rumour Has It were played on rock radio stations. Was a monumental album. Set Fire to the Rain is an insane closer. I also really enjoyed The Cure cover of Lovesong
What a weird little record. The only song I knew by The Cardigans was Lovefool. Which I always thought was a fun little pop song. But this album is not that song, and I imagine a lot of people bought this for that song and were like, "What the hell is this?".
I really enjoyed this to the point where once it ended, I immediately started over. I mean it's a little psychedelic, a little indie pop, and a little 1960s French go-go music. I really liked it. To the point where now I have to find a place to buy it from on vinyl.
Yeah, This one is not for me. Just monotonous samples with no feeling. I think the green dudes on the cover agree with me.
I know this is supposed to be ska/punk. I can see why people wanted it on the list to represent that era of music. It's not good. Nothing about this is good.
It's fine. Nothing special, basic shoegaze. This one in particular is pretty boring to me. Would not listen again.
I have definitely outgrown rap metal. This album is fine. Chester had a great voice. But this genre has really aged poorly over time.
It's an amazing album. Maybe a little long, but it's so good. The one thing that will always stand out when I hear and listen to Jimi is that tone. The tone on Are You Experienced is so perfect and no matter how many people try, that cannot replicate perfectly. Is The Wind Cries Mary Jimi's best song? I could make an argument for that. Is I Don't Live Today his least appreciated track? I think so.
The one thing about this record, it seems like it could have been sequenced better. Third Stone from The Sun is probably the closer in my mind, but Are You Experienced could also fall in that category. When that's your only gripe, dealing with a pretty good album.
Monotonous and boring. 90's trap never did much for me and now it is simply ambient background music.
Another album that was just fine. I was really trying to pay attention to the lyrics and understand the hype, but it did nothing for me. Musically pretty good, but I never got why Pulp was a big deal.
I understand the appeal, but unless I get hopped up on some methamphetamines, this is not going to work for me.
I don't know what I could write that hasn't already been written about The Beatles and Abbey Road. It's great. Never listen to it on shuffle or the medley goes way out to whack. One of the greatest albums ever.
Beatles, back to back. It's not a bad thing. Rubber Soul may be my favorite Beatles album. Just one great track after another. I've Just Seen A Face, Norwegian Wood, In My Life. They just don't quit.
I liked this more than I thought I would. Certainly more jangly then I was expecting.
I have gotten a few rap/rock records that I have gotten and I have very much disliked. This is not a record in that conversation. This is not a rap/rock record, this is a statement. When this came out, I remember being absolutely blown away by the sounds coming from Morello's guitar and the power of the words by De La Rocha. I listen to it now and the words are still accurate. The music stands up. The words, unfortunately, still matter. Wake up.
I mean, this is an important album. It's got some chill and groovy pop hits like Coconut, Gotta Get Up, and Let The Good Times Roll. But then there is this crushing ballad Without You mixed in there. Great album, super fun.
The only song I knew by Dusty Springfield was Son of a Preacher Man. I did not realize how much she used that French pop sound for this album, also mixed in with almost Motown style songs. She really has a beautiful, and powerful voice. I really liked this and will no longer thinking she was a one hit wonder.
I think this is one of the best albums in the last 20 years. I think Hero may be one of the best songs every written. Kiwanuka is one of the most important artists of this current timeline.
I think Rod Stewart gets a bad rap because of the bad disco period with "do ya think I'm sexy" and then as he got old he was just doing those standards albums. After all of that though, look back. Rod Stewart has an amazing rock and roll voice. This album has some insanely good rock songs. Maggie May is as good as it gets. Same with Every Picture Tells A Story. Just killer tracks laid down by great musicians. Great album.
