Whiney in a way that's sometimes sexy and sometimes kind of annoying

This wasn't quite my style, but still a delightful way to start and end my day. I'll remember you fondly, Dolly!

I'm no stranger to a little edge but this just feels shallow and juvenile

I'm blown away by these instrumentals! The sound fluctuates between wildly different styles but the album somehow remains cohesive. At my favorite parts of the album, the somewhat high-pitched vocals were a perfect counterbalance to the low and moody tone of the tracks. Just SO good. And then he transitions into a lush and wistful track with the saxophone solo.... just incredible. I was feeling it for sure. That said, I really struggled to enjoy the vocals on the first three tracks. Bowie's singing was often grating to me, especially because I was enjoying the instrumentals so much. I also disliked the lyrics themselves which made the whole thing even worse. It started getting better around the fourth track, but having to wait 16 and a half minutes before I was fully able to enjoy it is... not great.

Cohen's singing voice got old quick... I started getting a little annoyed towards the end.

I just don't enjoy this at all and I'm annoyed at the idea that I "should" because it's a classic or whatever

I especially loved the opening and closing tracks!! Edit: this record really grew on me even more over time

Hate this except the parts that are so good I have to begrudgingly consider a decent rating. I'll never have a solid opinion on Lou Reed... Two stars, rounded down, because I would never voluntarily listen to this again.

Absolutely love this, it's so lush and grandiose! I'll never get tired of the late 80s.

Piano music generally doesn't do much for me, and I absolutely hated the random vocal exclamations. Honestly I was just waiting for this one to be over.

Raw Talent. I love how she switches between different genres and puts so much feeling into her music. Unfortunately it just doesn't do much for me.

The Seinfeld effect in full swing: I wouldn't be surprised if this was special in its time, but it just feels dated and bland now.

I want to like this because it's Kurt Cobain, but most of the album sounds like mush to me.

Finally some interesting music!! It's been a while. This is WAAAAAY too long and really could have used an editor, but I still had a great time. I had a six-hour train ride to kill, anyway.

I used to love "Everybody knows" but the older I get, the worse those lyrics sit with me. A lot of this is just... not good.

I forgot why I was so reluctant to listen to this, it's a good time!

I can't get myself to enjoy the somewhat monotonous beats that just go on and on and on... I guess I just struggle to appreciate the genre.

Just like the last Elton John I got-- why is each song about twice as long as it should be? "indian Sunset" is uhh

I wanted to like this more than I actually did, I think. The repetitive bassline on "Black Man's Cry" drove me crazy. Loved the looooong drum section.

Why do the band members sound like they're too sleepy to make interesting music?

I enjoyed this album. According to wikipedia, Al Green beat his pregnant wife for refusing to have sex. His love songs sound disgusting in that context. And an ordained pastor, huh? I won't be listening again.
