Grace by Jeff Buckley
Aug 26 2026

I can tell this is a really good album but I can't make up my mind about whether I'm actually enjoying it... It's whiney in a way that's sometimes sexy and sometimes kind of annoying. I feel like I'd mesh with this album way better if I was depressed.

Trio by Dolly Parton
Aug 27 2026

This wasn't quite my style, but still a delightful way to start and end my day. I'll remember you fondly, Dolly!

Blackstar by David Bowie
Aug 31 2026

I'm blown away by these instrumentals! The sound fluctuates between wildly different styles but the album somehow remains cohesive. At my favorite parts of the album, the somewhat high-pitched vocals were a perfect counterbalance to the low and moody tone of the tracks. Just SO good. And then he transitions into a lush and wistful track with the saxophone solo.... just incredible. I was feeling it for sure. That said, I really struggled to enjoy the vocals on the first three tracks. Bowie's singing was often grating to me, especially because I was enjoying the instrumentals so much. I also disliked the lyrics themselves which made the whole thing even worse. It started getting better around the fourth track ("Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)") but having to wait 16 and a half minutes (1/3rd, almost 1/2 of the album) before I was fully able to enjoy it is... not great. Overall, I think this one is hard to rate. I can't give these instrumentals less than 5 stars, but I can't give a score like that to a song with vocals that bothered me THIS much for a large part of its runtime.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Sep 01 2026

This is the first one I'd actually listened to before! While some of the songs are beautiful individually, an entire album at once is too much for me because they all felt very similar at the end of the day. While I'm usually a sucker for religious symbolism, Cohen's singing voice got old quick. I started getting a little annoyed towards the end.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Sep 02 2026

I just don't enjoy this at all and I'm annoyed at the idea that I "should" because it's a classic or whatever

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Sep 03 2026

I especially loved the opening and closing tracks!!

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Sep 05 2026

I don't mind this, but it just does nothing for me. Can't fully take this vocal style seriously

Sep 13 2026

Not entirely my style of music, but there are plenty of bits here and there that I do like!

Sep 14 2026

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would! The instrumentals are nice, but the vocal style and lyrics do nothing for me.
