horrible album. Wild horses sounded like what i imagine saloons played in the 1700s, and wouldnt be suprised if the horses genuinely joined in singing. If i wanted to listen to this music I would turn on the red dead redemption 2 house building song. will never listen to this again.
The instrumentals on revolution blues and other songs is fantastic. If this album was only instrumentals it would be better. Ambulance blues is a horrible song that genuinely brings down the rest of the album. I dont know why this song was even made or what the point of adding it to this album was. It was the last song, which left me on an extremely sour note. He literally says in the song "its hard to say the meaning of this song" SO WHY DID YOU MAKE IT??? 8 MINS FOR WHAT ?? best song: on the beach. worst song: ambulance blues
This dude is ripoff Frank Sinatraa, just listen to him instead. No songs were offensively bad, and the album as a whole was very uninteresting. There were no tracks that stood out to me, and the album cover is just okay. Best song: The World's Strongest Man. Worst song: Rhymes of Goodbye. Will not be listening again.
Great album, however you can tell it is dated. The mixing is all over the place in this album, the vocals in "nowhere man" were only in my right ear, meanwhile the vocals in "what goes on" were only in my left. The logo for the album is fantastic, but the cover itself is a bit boring. Best song: Run for your life. Worst song: Nowhere man.
Fantastic album with an amazing cover. A little long to listen to in one sitting, but that makes sense because its a double album. I like the woman backing vocals on "play in the sunshine", some of the solos were extremely well-done. The production was off the charts and it was generally just great to listen to. The first 3 songs were amazing and the rest of the album is decent. Best Song: Play in the Sunshine. Worst Song: "The Cross".
One of the best instrumental albuns ive heard (initially). The album cover looks like it was discovered from an ancient aztec temple and its lowkey revolting to look at. The first 4 songs are great, but it quickly falls off from there, everything "A touch of the night" and after is... just alright. Some of the final songs sound like that one broken minecraft disk. Best song: Into the paradise. Worst song: The Monkey King.
The first 2 songs were pretty good, but "run charlie run" is obviously problematic. "Papa was a rolling stone" was a little long, but not bad. Nothing in this album really stood out, nt even the best and worst songs. Nevertheless, Best song: Funky music sho nuff turns me on. worst song: I aint got nothin'.
So many amazing songs on this album its unreal. Sierra Leone, Sweet Life, Pyramids, Bad Religion, the list is literally as long as the album. Mr. Ocean has an angelic voice, its like this guy was singing out the womb. I would recommend this album to anyone, regardless if they are familiar with the genre. The album cover is simple, but classic. If it wasnt Frank Ocean, it would be uncreative, but somehow this man makes this cover look full. Best Song: Pyramids. Worst Song: Super Rich Kids.
Great album that has dated lyrics. The writing is all over the place, however it has very memorable songs. I had multiple songs in my head after listening, Big Poppa, Machine Gun Funk, Gimme the Loot, Ready to Die were amazing songs. The theming of the album is good, but it could have done with 3 less songs. All of the songs mostly talk about the same thing, but it just sounds great. I do not care for the album cover this time around. I understand how this man is in consideration to be the best rapper of all time, but personally not my favorite. I would listen to this again, mostly just my favorites. Best Song: Big Poppa. Worst ""Song"": Interlude, you know the one. Worst Song: Respect.
Fantastic album cover. The remastered 2010 version had quality sound, and captured John Lennon's voice pretty well. Not much to say about the album except its pretty predictable from him. This album is exactly as I imagined. Hahahaha!!!!! It is though. Best song: Imagine. Worst Song: How do you sleep?
Abattoir Blues is great, particularily the back half, but The Lyre of Orpheus is boring. Good album cover, I wish the flowers filled the whole page, but I understand the sytlistic choice. Would have rated a 3 if Lyre of Orpheus was just a bit better. Best song: There She Goes My Beautiful World. Worst Song: Easy Money
They thought they were so tough naming themselves The Band. The album name doesnt even make sense, why didnt they name it The Album? Probably because they knew blackpink would make a better album. The album cover looks like 5 coal workers after a long day in the mines. I like the trumpets on across the great divide. Some good songs on here, Rockin' chair and Look out Cleveland. Best Song: Up On Cripple Creek Worst Song: Jawbone.
This album cover is really boring, would have been slightly better without the songs written on it, but of course it makes sense because of how vinyls were printed. The background music of "Night Life" sounds better than the singing, even with it only in my right ear. There are some genuinely great themes of loneliness and isolation on this album on songs like "The Twenty-Fourth Hour" and "A Girl in the Night" but unfortunately this album just boils down to an "I can fix her" kind of album. Ray Price speaks like he can save this girls life by marrying her, but she seems to be doing just fine on her own. He speaks about how a drinking problem seperated him from her in "Sittin' and Thinkin'" but in the song he says that even if he got back together with her, he cannot promise he wont drink and ruin her life again. Unbelievable. I really wish this album focused more on the loneliness aspect, both from Ray and this girl who works at the HonkyTonk bar. It was really interesting to hear about someone who is extremely appreciated while working, however becomes lonely the moment shes off the clock. Best Song: The Twenty-Fourth Hour. Worst Song: Sittin' and Thinkin'
Great album cover, I really enjoy the wavelike texture in the background. Tortoise is in a nice blue compared to the color of the cover. Djed is really the only listenable song here, for an instrumental album its average. I would rather listen to some videogame soundtracks instead than listen to this again. Instrumental is pretty difficult to mess up, so by default its average. Best Song: Djed. Worst Song: Along the Banks of Rivers.
Good album cover, seems generic to me, but thats because this style was popularized through Billy Joel. Movin'Out and Scenes from an Italian Resturaunt, Restruaunt, Restruant are extremely memorable tracks. In particular The saxaphone on italian, and the entire album was some of the best usage ive ever heard. Personally not for me, will not be listening to again, but would not dread doing so. I can see why Billy Joel has a fanbase all these years later. Best Song: Scenes from an Italian Resturant. Worst Song: Everybody has a Dream.
Top 10 album cover. Beautiful colors, imagery, lighting. The album is not much worse, starting off extremely strong. One of the best pop albums I have listened to, has some of her best songs on it. Has some really strong hooks, particularly on Green Light. Best Song: Hard Feelings/Loneliness. Worst Song: Writer in the Dark
The album cover is ok, I like the stamp on it, but its boring otherwise. Extremely Fun album, could not take this seriously and was smiling the whole time. I couldnt tell if this a genuine gang rap album or a parody. Starting with a sword fight as a british rapper is extremely funny, some of the skits were so un-tough that they became laughable, and there is alot of them. The lyrics in this album really put it over the top, almost every song has a lyric which made me pause the song and laugh. For example, [Im the X factor, and unlike Simon on the show, im not pushing buttons.] followed by a loud buzzer. Amazing choice there. The backing tracks were genuinely great, if this guy wasnt british and I took him seriously, it would not be so funny. Assuming this is somewhat of a parody, easily a 5, but just because I'm not sure, its a 4. If this is a genuine attempt to be tough, this is an absolute 0, he gave me the impression of an absolute jokester. Best Song: Shutdown. Worst Song: Corn on the Curb.
Boring album cover, looks like something I would take as an end to a gambling night. If it wasnt for the lame album cover, this would likely be a 5 for me. This is a fantastic jazz album, no notes, one of the best I have heard. I really enjoy the vocals on the first song, and its length as well. Literally the only thing holding this back from a 5 is the cover. Best Song: Carnival of the Night. Worst Song: The Hustler.
Generational album cover. Genuinely terrible album. As my first David Bowie album, I was extremely dissapointed. I have heard about him all my life, but this album is straight nothing for me. Not a single song really stood out for me, Aladdin Sane (the song) has some of the WORST piano I have ever heard. Put a 5 year old on the piano and I bet they could play better with their feet. This is only rated a 2 because of the incredible album cover. Best Song: Drive-In Saturday. Worst Song: Aladdin Sane.
Really bad album. Something about the cover does not sit right with me. Did not like the french, tone, backing tracks, or instruments at all. By song 3 I wished that this was over. This isnt just because its in an unfamiliar language either, I genuinely listen to k-pop in my regular rotation and attend concerts reguarly despite not knowing an ounce of korean. If you want to listen to decent french music, listen to the Clair Obsur Expedition 33 soundtrack. Lumiere beats blows this entire album out of the water skyhigh. Best Song: Crier les Cheins Worst Song: Les Enfants.
Ok album cover, on the verge of being bad. This album is pretty generic, it blends into exactly what I imagine when I think of rock. While some may think of this as a good thing, for me, it is boring. This clearly has some merit to it, but personally I would never listen to this again. Not much else to say. Given a 2 and not a 1 because its not bad at all, just not for me. It did feel a little short. Best Song: Love Removal Machine. Worst Song: Memphis Hip Shake.
W album cover. Imagining what went through the talks about what to make it is really funny to me. First they thought about mount rushmore, realized there were 5 members, and just stuck the 5th one on there anyways. It just such a dumb idea it works. This album is pretty short except for "Child in Time". Overall its pretty middle of the road, but it definetly has some style to it. Would not look at someone strange if they gave this a 4 or even a 5. Best Song: Speed King. Worst Song: Hard Lovin' Man.
Cool idea for an album cover, seen better in other ones. For 1971, its pretty unique though, I like it. The album on the other hand, not so much. There are so many nonsense lyrics in here that speak like Gene Clark knows everything. An example of this is on the song 'Where my Love Lies Asleep' (creepy song name btw) "As she enters the doorway of dreams drifting free Lightning's flash, rivers roar Round the island she's sleeping and the Echoes soul". Genuinely feel like I have to decipher english literature to understand what Clark is talking about, something I do not enjoy particularly. Really truly can not show enough hatred for these lyrics, just complete nonsense, and if this was made in 2026, I genuinely would have written these off as ai-generated. Does not injure my ears to listen to though (except for the harmonica on "For a Spanish Guitar". Best Song: White Light. Worst Song: For a Spanish Guitar.
