easy listening! don't know if i'd go back to it but it was nice to put on while i was doing work. "starry night" was my favorite.
i know a lot of disco music is repetitive, which i usually don't mind... but for some reason this album got annoying very quickly.
just ok. i liked police & thieves
i didn't get anything out of this :/
loved it!!! so good, kept me interested the whole way through
this album was an experience, but was not an experience i enjoyed.
3.5
kind of repetitive but not a bad listen. i like "love sick"
good but sad. idk if i could listen again
damn. another boring ass album.
amazing perfect legendary....
i liked it, then i didnt like it... so idk what that was about. cool easy listening music though
nice music to work to. didnt have to think about anything too hard.
not my cup of tea but it was alright.
interesting sounds, a little samey sounding. liked mystery dance and im not angry
bored to tears. kinda liked idioteque.
a nEWwwww StraagNNGE Worllld!!
and NOTHING ELSE MAAAAATTTTEEERRRSSSSSSS
this is the album that got me into metallica so i appreciate it for that. i like sad but true and (obviously) nothing else matters lol. sure i could see why metallica fans dislike it as its very commercially accessible but if it gets people into the band then hey! i ended up listening to more of their music after this and loved it.
more like a 3.5... very easy listening but nothing stood out
i’m halfway through this album. it feels like one terrible long song. its repetitive and every song overstays it’s welcome. i strongly dislike it. i can’t wait for it to be over.
2.75? is that nitpicky? i wasn’t totally pored but not impressed either. nothing stood out
games -> if you think youre lonely now -> where do we go from here.... very strong 3 song run! (3.5)
dont remember anything about it and certainly nothing positive
i wish she wasnt such an asshole bc i love her music
3-3.5.... this was really interesting. lots of sounds!
3.5! good background music! i liked it a lot!
boring and samey sounding. i liked "bullet the blue sky". bono has a nice voice. 2.5
i could see why other people might like this… but i don’t. it’s slow and repetitive. some songs feel like good music to fall asleep to. others absolutely overstay their welcome. i’m not getting anything from it.
i kinda love the album cover. nothing on this is boring me, it’s sonically interesting. but it’s just ok overall. the screaming was kinda grating. i’m kinda feeling “i need somebody”.
this was cool but made me wish hozier was singing all of these songs... i guess i want a fully blusey sounding hozier album :(... it was cool though i like "too afraid to love you"
seriously wondering how this album made it on this list. its not bad but i don't understand why its considered "need to listen to before you die!!!" 2.5
felt like it was trying to hard to hit all of the sounds it did. it was ok enough to listen to but i don't see the point in coming back to it when i'm sure other people have done this sound better.
easy listening! she has a beautiful voice.
i'm feeling the dark dancey vibes depeche mode brought to the table with this album! nothing's really standing out but i would definitely put this on again to work to. these songs feel like vampire jams.
i liked it! "seven more days", "let's go forward", & "sign your name" are nice.
kinda long but really easy to listen to. i'm absolutely not mad at this. feels like "sitting outside at a big park watching the band play while drinking beer with family and friends" music. kinda nondescript.
the album cover makes me nervous and feels like it was directly ripped from my nightmare. album was pretty good though. i love "down in a hole". the album became more depressing as i read more about the lead singer.
even though "janie's got a gun" sounds like the most 1989 song ever i still enjoyed it. the voodoo song was cool too and probably my favorite on the album.
thought the music would be more interesting because of the cover but alas... i was disappointed. another album where i wonder why it was on this list. i like the dave matthew's cover "time of the season" better! 2.5
i was excited about this album when it showed up and i'm FEELING it!!
i could definitely dance to this! its very lush! i'm getting some japanese city pop from it, 4
seriously, another album where i wonder what makes it so special for it to be on this list. so many albums could have replaced this album. its not even "bad", its just so .... blah
this album is a pain in the ass to listen to because it has interesting ideas and sounds but it ended being fucking annoying and repetitive. did we need more than one iggy pop album on this list? 2 stars!!!!
3.5! good music to read to
a torturous experience. sitting through this makes me feel less bad for skipping the other dinosaur jr album on this list (did we really need 2?)
2.5. nondescript, listened to it while cleaning. don't see why it's on this list.
i dont remember much from it but it was ok i guess 2.5
no thoughts head empty on this one
even though it was all kinda samey sounding and made me wish i was listening to little richard instead i still enjoyed it more than i thought.
the album cover and title go hard. it was easy enough to listen to but i think some songs were a little too long. i wouldnt listen to it again but i didn't hate it, 2.5
kinda slow but i'm not mad at it. really liked "one hundred years" and "cold". can see how this influenced artists.
“son of a preacher man” & “the windmills of your mind” are soooo good.
i kind of hate and kind of love his voice. i didn’t like this album.
amazing legendary great spectacular one of a kind
finally, some good music. 3.5! i love "u got the look" and "the ballad of dorothy parker"
it was ok. i guess i get why it's on this list?
i liked "rudy" (its a little bit long i think i would appreciate an amended version more but its still pretty good). otherwise a very decent proggy yacht rock album. i think both genres have been done better by other artists.
FIVE STARS!!!!! FIVE STARS!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!
a rap album for people who don't like rap. corny, very early 2000s. well produced but sort of uninspired. run time is too long. nothing on it screams "must listen to before you die".
i liked a few songs off of here! some were kinda slow/boring
3.5
one of the more interesting albums ive heard so far. i can see how some people would really enjoy this. i cant say i loved it but i did enjoy listening to it and thought it was pretty different, . every song was better than the last. i might actually return to it one day 'cause there's some real earworms
this album really is "Total Trash".
its fine, i thought it was ok to listen to. some interesting sounds. didn't love the lead singer's voice. i understand punk albums can be longer bc the songs are so short but 40 tracks still coming up at an hour? and nothing on here was particularly memorable or groundbreaking to me that it should've been included on this list. still though, it was cool to listen to.
i like this! not enough to return to it but it was a nice listening experience. i can see the influence they had on other bands.
30sec into the opening song and i thought "damn, i know this album is gonna be boring." after getting halfway through it, i knew i was right.
boring but i get why people like it
i like "persephone" & "pandora". i understand why people would like this album but nothing about is really grabbing me. 2.5
its okay. not my cup of tea but i get why people would like it. its very british (not a bad thing) 2.5
i like "cross eyed mary"... the flute really had me ASCENDING on that one... actually the flute is the best part of this album all the way through.
always thought this album was overrated and i still think that but i understand its cultural significance. i came away with more appreciation for it after this listen. i love ex factor
i'm not really enjoying this. it isn't bad i'm just not enjoying it.
this album started to put me to sleep. its very boring and every song is entirely too long. "bamm bamm" was ok. the album cover is cool.
1.5
i don't get it. its just a bunch of noise, like the band felt they needed to use eveyr sound they could think of. its too bad too cause in the middle of some of these songs there's good ideas but they never go anywhere and instead are replaced by something boring or trite.
kinda annoying but an easy enough listen. mario man is pretty good.
she makes me is really nice. freddie is such a good singer.
i'm hella late on this album. janelle really cultivated a beautiful and lush soundscape with this one.
4.5
great production, bomb squad laced cube. such a crazy album for it to be a debut, even knowing his work with nwa. crazy to see how much cube has changed since this release musically and with his public persona. funny to think that this is the same guy who was in two (three if you ask me but...) of the best comedy movies of all time, one of the worst movies of all time, and a bunch of okay to mediocre shit in between.
who's the mack & gangsta's fairytale are my faves. i won't return to the album as a whole but i really enjoyed it and is a important listen
3.5
i liked this way more than i thought! i knew i was in for a good time when i saw "i aint superstitious" on the tracklist.
boring, whiny, and uninspired. couldn't stand the lead singer's voice, didn't finish listening after the first few songs.
2.5
overstayed its welcome and got a little annoying by the end but not the worse thing i've ever heard.
3.5
i can see how this influenced a lot of artists. my favorite songs were "family affair" & you caught me smilin"
got better as it went on i guess. sounds very 2008. i wonder if there's another goldfrapp album on this list or maybe i'll have to try out another by them bc this doesnt seem like their best work.
so cool. i only knew about "hungry like the wolf" (and that was because i remember it being in big fat liar lol). i think i have to listen to this one again because despite liking it as a whole i can't recall any other particular songs off the top of my head.
idk, its just not for me. i don't think welch's voice is very strong, even for the singer-songwriter genre. pretty boring album.
it was very Okay. easy to listen to.
no thoughts. some stuff was ok other parts were just kinda whatever. too long. 2.25
“night by night” is cool.
i really liked "I'll hold you in my heart" & "power of my love". i've always been a fan of elvis' voice. this is an album that makes a lot of sense being on this list as elvis's influence on popular music lasted quite a long time. his career was very interesting.
when i listened to "power of my love" i could only think of this quote from stephen davis' book hammer of the gods: "[led zeppelin] considered themselves uncle elvis’s depraved nephews."
why isn’t cyndi in the wwe hall of fame yet?! total bullshit.
i was already aware of “time after time” (amazing) and “girls just wanna have fun” (sweet) but i ended up loving “she bop”. that’s a great song. this album was like an insight into cyndi’s cartoon mind. so much fun
started off annoying. every song is too long for what they’re worth. feels pretentious. occasional flashes of something interesting. much better listening experience by the end of the album 2.5
i liked “7”, “down slow”, & “if things were perfect”
catchy but not in an earworm way. good background music, got a lot of work done while listening. not sure what makes it "must listen before you die" material but i guess every album on the list cant be incredibly interesting or innovative.
i like "tumbling dice" & "i just want to see his face". extremely mixed thoughts on "sweet black angel".
everything sounded sort of samey. didnt hate it. back half better than the front.
wow what a voice, so lush. very relaxed listening to this one. i looked up english translations for some of the songs not knowing what to expect but i got a psychedelic sort of vibe which was great. cool album cover too
i remember when bowie died. it was my senior year of high school. busy year for dying… prince, denise “vanity” matthews, chyna. bowie was not someone whose music i had a lot of experience with … i liked his song “fame” because i heard it in next friday. i liked “let’s dance”. that was it.
this album was sad enough with the context. but it was good. 3.5
