this album was an experience, but was not an experience i enjoyed.

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo

FIVE STARS!!!!! FIVE STARS!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu

i’m halfway through this album. it feels like one terrible long song. its repetitive and every song overstays it’s welcome. i strongly dislike it. i can’t wait for it to be over.

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys

seriously, another album where i wonder what makes it so special for it to be on this list. so many albums could have replaced this album. its not even "bad", its just so .... blah

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder

this is a perfect album.

Metallica by Metallica
Mar 31 2021

and NOTHING ELSE MAAAAATTTTEEERRRSSSSSSS this is the album that got me into metallica so i appreciate it for that. i like sad but true and (obviously) nothing else matters lol. sure i could see why metallica fans dislike it as its very commercially accessible but if it gets people into the band then hey! i ended up listening to more of their music after this and loved it.

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Apr 02 2021

i’m halfway through this album. it feels like one terrible long song. its repetitive and every song overstays it’s welcome. i strongly dislike it. i can’t wait for it to be over.

boring and samey sounding. i liked "bullet the blue sky". bono has a nice voice. 2.5

NEU! 75 by Neu!
Apr 15 2021

i could see why other people might like this… but i don’t. it’s slow and repetitive. some songs feel like good music to fall asleep to. others absolutely overstay their welcome. i’m not getting anything from it.

Raw Power by The Stooges
Apr 16 2021

i kinda love the album cover. nothing on this is boring me, it’s sonically interesting. but it’s just ok overall. the screaming was kinda grating. i’m kinda feeling “i need somebody”.

Brothers by The Black Keys
Apr 20 2021

this was cool but made me wish hozier was singing all of these songs... i guess i want a fully blusey sounding hozier album :(... it was cool though i like "too afraid to love you"

Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues
Apr 22 2021

seriously wondering how this album made it on this list. its not bad but i don't understand why its considered "need to listen to before you die!!!" 2.5

The Coral by The Coral
Apr 23 2021

felt like it was trying to hard to hit all of the sounds it did. it was ok enough to listen to but i don't see the point in coming back to it when i'm sure other people have done this sound better.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Apr 26 2021

easy listening! she has a beautiful voice.

Violator by Depeche Mode
Apr 28 2021

i'm feeling the dark dancey vibes depeche mode brought to the table with this album! nothing's really standing out but i would definitely put this on again to work to. these songs feel like vampire jams.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
May 21 2021

kinda long but really easy to listen to. i'm absolutely not mad at this. feels like "sitting outside at a big park watching the band play while drinking beer with family and friends" music. kinda nondescript.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
May 24 2021

the album cover makes me nervous and feels like it was directly ripped from my nightmare. album was pretty good though. i love "down in a hole". the album became more depressing as i read more about the lead singer.

Pump by Aerosmith
May 25 2021

even though "janie's got a gun" sounds like the most 1989 song ever i still enjoyed it. the voodoo song was cool too and probably my favorite on the album.

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
May 26 2021

thought the music would be more interesting because of the cover but alas... i was disappointed. another album where i wonder why it was on this list. i like the dave matthew's cover "time of the season" better! 2.5

Vivid by Living Colour
May 27 2021

i was excited about this album when it showed up and i'm FEELING it!!

Rip It Up by Orange Juice
May 28 2021

i could definitely dance to this! its very lush! i'm getting some japanese city pop from it, 4

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys
Jun 01 2021

seriously, another album where i wonder what makes it so special for it to be on this list. so many albums could have replaced this album. its not even "bad", its just so .... blah

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Jun 02 2021

this is a perfect album.

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
Jun 03 2021

this album is a pain in the ass to listen to because it has interesting ideas and sounds but it ended being fucking annoying and repetitive. did we need more than one iggy pop album on this list? 2 stars!!!!

You're Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr.
Jun 07 2021

a torturous experience. sitting through this makes me feel less bad for skipping the other dinosaur jr album on this list (did we really need 2?)

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Jun 08 2021

2.5. nondescript, listened to it while cleaning. don't see why it's on this list.

System Of A Down by System Of A Down
Jun 10 2021

i dont remember much from it but it was ok i guess 2.5

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Jun 14 2021

even though it was all kinda samey sounding and made me wish i was listening to little richard instead i still enjoyed it more than i thought.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Jun 15 2021

the album cover and title go hard. it was easy enough to listen to but i think some songs were a little too long. i wouldnt listen to it again but i didn't hate it, 2.5

Pornography by The Cure
Jun 16 2021

kinda slow but i'm not mad at it. really liked "one hundred years" and "cold". can see how this influenced artists.

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Jun 17 2021

“son of a preacher man” & “the windmills of your mind” are soooo good.

Transformer by Lou Reed
Jun 18 2021

i kind of hate and kind of love his voice. i didn’t like this album.

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Jun 21 2021

amazing legendary great spectacular one of a kind

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Jun 22 2021

finally, some good music. 3.5! i love "u got the look" and "the ballad of dorothy parker"

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Jun 24 2021

it was ok. i guess i get why it's on this list?

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Jun 25 2021

i liked "rudy" (its a little bit long i think i would appreciate an amended version more but its still pretty good). otherwise a very decent proggy yacht rock album. i think both genres have been done better by other artists.

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
Jun 28 2021

FIVE STARS!!!!! FIVE STARS!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Jun 29 2021

a rap album for people who don't like rap. corny, very early 2000s. well produced but sort of uninspired. run time is too long. nothing on it screams "must listen to before you die".

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jun 30 2021

i liked a few songs off of here! some were kinda slow/boring

Black Monk Time by The Monks
Jul 02 2021

3.5 one of the more interesting albums ive heard so far. i can see how some people would really enjoy this. i cant say i loved it but i did enjoy listening to it and thought it was pretty different, . every song was better than the last. i might actually return to it one day 'cause there's some real earworms

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Jul 05 2021

this album really is "Total Trash".

Jul 06 2021

its fine, i thought it was ok to listen to. some interesting sounds. didn't love the lead singer's voice. i understand punk albums can be longer bc the songs are so short but 40 tracks still coming up at an hour? and nothing on here was particularly memorable or groundbreaking to me that it should've been included on this list. still though, it was cool to listen to.

Roger the Engineer by The Yardbirds
Jul 07 2021

i like this! not enough to return to it but it was a nice listening experience. i can see the influence they had on other bands.

Lazer Guided Melodies by Spiritualized
Jul 08 2021

30sec into the opening song and i thought "damn, i know this album is gonna be boring." after getting halfway through it, i knew i was right.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 09 2021

boring but i get why people like it

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Aug 25 2021

i like "persephone" & "pandora". i understand why people would like this album but nothing about is really grabbing me. 2.5

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Aug 26 2021

its okay. not my cup of tea but i get why people would like it. its very british (not a bad thing) 2.5

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Aug 27 2021

i like "cross eyed mary"... the flute really had me ASCENDING on that one... actually the flute is the best part of this album all the way through.

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Aug 30 2021

didnt hate it! 3

Aug 31 2021

always thought this album was overrated and i still think that but i understand its cultural significance. i came away with more appreciation for it after this listen. i love ex factor

Roots by Sepultura
Sep 01 2021

i'm not really enjoying this. it isn't bad i'm just not enjoying it.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Sep 02 2021

i liked it!

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Sep 03 2021

this album started to put me to sleep. its very boring and every song is entirely too long. "bamm bamm" was ok. the album cover is cool.

Sep 06 2021

1.5 i don't get it. its just a bunch of noise, like the band felt they needed to use eveyr sound they could think of. its too bad too cause in the middle of some of these songs there's good ideas but they never go anywhere and instead are replaced by something boring or trite.

Fuzzy Logic by Super Furry Animals
Sep 07 2021

kinda annoying but an easy enough listen. mario man is pretty good.

Sep 08 2021

she makes me is really nice. freddie is such a good singer.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Sep 09 2021

i'm hella late on this album. janelle really cultivated a beautiful and lush soundscape with this one.

Sep 13 2021

4.5 great production, bomb squad laced cube. such a crazy album for it to be a debut, even knowing his work with nwa. crazy to see how much cube has changed since this release musically and with his public persona. funny to think that this is the same guy who was in two (three if you ask me but...) of the best comedy movies of all time, one of the worst movies of all time, and a bunch of okay to mediocre shit in between. who's the mack & gangsta's fairytale are my faves. i won't return to the album as a whole but i really enjoyed it and is a important listen

Truth by Jeff Beck
Apr 12 2022

3.5 i liked this way more than i thought! i knew i was in for a good time when i saw "i aint superstitious" on the tracklist.

Apr 13 2022

boring, whiny, and uninspired. couldn't stand the lead singer's voice, didn't finish listening after the first few songs.

Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
Apr 14 2022

2.5 overstayed its welcome and got a little annoying by the end but not the worse thing i've ever heard.

There's A Riot Goin' On by Sly & The Family Stone
Apr 15 2022

3.5 i can see how this influenced a lot of artists. my favorite songs were "family affair" & you caught me smilin"

Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp
Apr 18 2022

got better as it went on i guess. sounds very 2008. i wonder if there's another goldfrapp album on this list or maybe i'll have to try out another by them bc this doesnt seem like their best work.

Rio by Duran Duran
Apr 19 2022

so cool. i only knew about "hungry like the wolf" (and that was because i remember it being in big fat liar lol). i think i have to listen to this one again because despite liking it as a whole i can't recall any other particular songs off the top of my head.

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch
Apr 20 2022

idk, its just not for me. i don't think welch's voice is very strong, even for the singer-songwriter genre. pretty boring album.

Mask by Bauhaus
May 06 2026

no thoughts. some stuff was ok other parts were just kinda whatever. too long. 2.25

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
May 07 2026

“night by night” is cool.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
May 08 2026

i really liked "I'll hold you in my heart" & "power of my love". i've always been a fan of elvis' voice. this is an album that makes a lot of sense being on this list as elvis's influence on popular music lasted quite a long time. his career was very interesting. when i listened to "power of my love" i could only think of this quote from stephen davis' book hammer of the gods: "[led zeppelin] considered themselves uncle elvis’s depraved nephews."

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
May 11 2026

why isn’t cyndi in the wwe hall of fame yet?! total bullshit. i was already aware of “time after time” (amazing) and “girls just wanna have fun” (sweet) but i ended up loving “she bop”. that’s a great song. this album was like an insight into cyndi’s cartoon mind. so much fun

Play by Moby
May 12 2026

started off annoying. every song is too long for what they’re worth. feels pretentious. occasional flashes of something interesting. much better listening experience by the end of the album 2.5 i liked “7”, “down slow”, & “if things were perfect”

Woodface by Crowded House
May 13 2026

catchy but not in an earworm way. good background music, got a lot of work done while listening. not sure what makes it "must listen before you die" material but i guess every album on the list cant be incredibly interesting or innovative.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
May 14 2026

i like "tumbling dice" & "i just want to see his face". extremely mixed thoughts on "sweet black angel". everything sounded sort of samey. didnt hate it. back half better than the front.

Caetano Veloso by Caetano Veloso
May 15 2026

wow what a voice, so lush. very relaxed listening to this one. i looked up english translations for some of the songs not knowing what to expect but i got a psychedelic sort of vibe which was great. cool album cover too

Blackstar by David Bowie
May 18 2026

i remember when bowie died. it was my senior year of high school. busy year for dying… prince, denise “vanity” matthews, chyna. bowie was not someone whose music i had a lot of experience with … i liked his song “fame” because i heard it in next friday. i liked “let’s dance”. that was it. this album was sad enough with the context. but it was good. 3.5

The Cars by The Cars
May 19 2026

not awful but sort of annoying. 2.5

Leftism by Leftfield
May 20 2026

"afro left" is a banger.

Is This It by The Strokes
May 21 2026

as soon as this came up i said “noooo… ugh” out loud. i think the strokes are so boring. ive heard this album already and the only song i liked was “trying your luck” and i dont even remember why i liked it.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
May 22 2026

"sinister purpose" is okay. 2.5

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
May 25 2026

sounds like scott pilgrim music. i liked it more than i thought i would. 3.5
