Very English. Revisit when in a Billy Bragg mood.

Sounds very 90s, not that that's a bad thing. Machete and Bodyrock used to be my jams. I wish it would pick a lane between pop/big beat and poppy ambient, though. It's uneven. Rerelease as two EPs.

Own it, love it. Listened to Innervisions instead, because I don't own it (yet). Both are 5. Stevie is God.

The funk bangers are fantastic, but it's weighed down with too much pop schmaltz. 1 star deduction just for "She's Out Of My Life" - absolute fucking garbage.

I'm not listening to two Michael albums in a row. I'll assume it was a 3.

I can't stand Sufjan.

Side A is dull; side B is mostly interesting except for "Man on the Moon". Pop R.E.M. is boring; can't imagine this holds up for anyone but gen-xers.

Less than timeless, but extra credit for the excellent production - sounds great for early '66.

Undeniably important, but hair metal sucks and Axl's voice is annoying.

Takes a while to get rolling. Missy is a mediocre rapper at best, but it's about the big picture here. Great beats from Timbaland. Never knew that line in "Work It" was a callback to "Izzy."

I own it. Birdland is a bop but the rest is just fine. The schmaltzy side of fusion just isn't for me.

The covers are fantastic, but for the album cuts, I prefer the studio versions.

It's always amazed me that a band named after a dildo could be this milquetoast. I mean, it's good, intelligent pop-rock, but with very little of the jazzy weirdness that made Aja/Gaucho era Dan so great.
