Steely DanEven trying to have an open mind, I spent the majority of the album hoping it would end soon. Each song was followed by another somehow even less interesting.
Even trying to have an open mind, I spent the majority of the album hoping it would end soon. Each song was followed by another somehow even less interesting.
I hate this fucking album so much.
Nearly perfect. It's not an album I listen to often, but it's always a treat when I do.
This album just flat out rocks. This was a bit of a game changer in the 90s and has some really great songs. Perry Farrell is such a weird guy, but has some really witty and catchy lyrics. I come back to this album from time to time and will likely continue to do so for years to come.
Hated it at first, but some of the lyrics grew on me. Still don't need it in my life.
A few good songs, but not a repeat listen for me.
Turns out music did not in fact die on the day of his death.
A very compelling live performance of music I find less compelling. Some great songs in here, Thin Lizzy just never grabbed and held my attention.
First time I have listened to this album in full. Several classic songs, but I'm looking forward to some of Jackson's even better albums.
The beauty of this 1,001 albums project is it forces me to listen to a lot of music I have never heard before, even including this dogshit album. Regretfully, this also likely means I'll have to suffer through at least one Nickelback album, since they are likely somehow less bad than this album. The bright side is I never need to hear these songs ever again. And, God willing, likely won't.
Might be a decent album for background noise, otherwise I don't see myself listening to it much more.
Really enjoyed this album. "Get It On" has always been a fun song, but the whole album is a pretty easy listen.
Meh
Eh, this is the most I haven listened to this band. Song 2 was always fun, but I doubt I ever have a desire to listen to much more of their stuff.
Really fun and uptempo album with some classic songs. I'll be listening to it again.
This album is great from start to finish.
Really enjoyed this album, first time listening to it.
I have to be in the right mood to listen to and fully appreciate Bob Dylan. Unfortunately, I was not at the time of this listen. I have heard the album before and do enjoy it, so I'll circle back to it again when the time is right.
It's been decades since I have heard this full album, and it's not as good a si recall. Plenty of great songs, but I still prefer Portrait of an American Family and Mechanical Animals.
A few well known songs, but I was underwhelmed by the album as a whole.
I rather enjoyed this album, but it's definitely for boning down. I lit some candles to set the mood.
Surprised by how much I enjoyed this album I had never heard of. Perfect soundtrack for an early morning walk at sunrise.
Sufficiently weird.
Boring.
Fun, would listen to again.
Jazz is boring.
A bit of a strange album, but the music is pretty decent.
Pretty good front to back. Could have done without the last song, or it could have been shortened up significantly. Doubt I listen to the whole thing again, but I wouldn't turn it off if it came on.
Nearly perfect. It's not an album I listen to often, but it's always a treat when I do.
Some of Alice's biggest songs are on this classic album. Always fun to revisit old shock rock.
This would have been so insanely fun to see performed live. As always, Ginger Baker on the drums does not disappoint.
Not my favorite Hendrix album, but solid all the way through.
Haven't heard this album all the way through before, but it is worth a few more listens for sure.
Good live album with some decent covers. Nirvana is overrated, but this is a classic performance.
Weird album. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Don't need it.
It's fine.
Would probably be more enjoyable sitting on a patio in the hot sun with some scotch and a cigar. Otherwise, I can't think of when I would ever want to hear this whole album again.
Pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this album. I was not expecting it to be so psychedelic. I'll have to remember to circle back to it later for another listen. Sitar owns.
Brilliant songwriting. I don't often enough listen to Neil's work.
An iconic album that one never tires of listening to. It's only flaw are some of the long, instrumental segues and lead-ins that don't necessarily add much to the album.
While I think The Beatles are the most overrated band of all time, their influence on music is undeniable. And for what it is, their music isn't bad. It's fine. I won't go out of my way to listen to this album or most of their other stuff, but I won't turn it off as I mow my lawn to it.
Classic Bowie. He was such a unique talent, and it's on full display here.
Odd album that I found myself surprised by how much I enjoyed some songs.
Meh.
A bit of a nostalgic album for me, as I remember some of these songs from visiting my grandma as a kid. Simple, but fantastic songwriting and storytelling.
A classic album, but not quite yet fully developed into musical trailblazers they are remembered as. Too much of a boy band pop influence on this album, and it only gets a 4 because their next several albums are all 5s.
It's not terrible, I just don't need it.
Enjoyed this album more than I expected.
This album rocks. LA Grange is just such a classic road trip song, and the rest of the album provides a wonderful soundtrack for it too. Nothing to skip here.
Hated it at first, but some of the lyrics grew on me. Still don't need it in my life.
I have never understood the lore of this album. There's several great and even iconic songs, outnumbered only by a lot of unnecessary songs. It's a chore to get through the whole album in one listen.
Listened to this album for the first time a few years ago and loved it. It's still a joy to hear.
Pretty funky, but nothing too memorable here.
Brilliant progressive rock, and I'm surprised I have never heard this whole album. I'll be spending more time with Yes in the near future.
Even trying to have an open mind, I spent the majority of the album hoping it would end soon. Each song was followed by another somehow even less interesting.
Good storytelling, but too long and I lost interest several times.
I was familiar with a couple songs through covers, but never heard the original or this whole album. Really enjoyed it.
Classic album that had a revolutionary impact on music.
Never heard of this band or any of the songs. I'm enjoying some of this old punk.
Imagine you are in 1969 and you turn this album for the first time. Your mind would be absolutely blown. Bonzo's drumming still blows my mind 50 years later. Also, sex noises by Robert Plant. Flawless album, and as always, was a genuine joy to listen to again.
New band and album to me, but I enjoyed most of the songs. Some felt real jam bandy, but was easy to listen to.
Not really my type of music, but it is listenable. The influences this album and group had is unquestionable, and even big bands like Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails and Fear Factory would have sounded a lot different without the industrial electronic sounds of The Prodigy.
Classic album by the pioneers. Virtually flawless.
It's fine, even beautiful at times. But I don't need it and probably won't ever listen to it again.
Meh, largely forgettable.
I get The Doors were a big deal. I get they influenced a whole lot of people in their day and since. But I don't know if I can ever be so under the influence of either drugs or alcohol to make their music not be boring as hell. The organ is too fucking loud on every song. I'll round up the score to the next star for the Oedipus Complex part in the final song.
Energetic album. Wouldn't mind hearing it again.
Pass. Not for me.
Beautiful album that is a super easy listen.
Driven more by electric guitar than the admittedly little Neil Young I have listened to. I really enjoyed most of the songs.
Joan's voice is beautiful, but I struggled to get into this album.
Pretty good soul music, would listen again if I was in the right mood for it.
A remarkable collection of well known songs, many with a Motown influence. Dusty's voice is incredible.
Three musical virtuosos in one band, tearing it up. Ginger Baker particularly shines, and it's hard to deny the brilliance of a young Eric Clapton here. Incredible album.
A solid live performance. It would have been pretty wild to see Mr. Brown work a crowd at the peak of his career.
SUPER chill album. I have never heard of the album or band before this, but I really enjoyed the peacefulness of this album. It's really nice to wind down with before bed. I'll definitely be listening to more of PCO.
I hate this fucking album so much.
Dolly is such a timeless storyteller. Most of her music isn't really for me, but it's still really good music.
Never quite got the appeal of this band. Some songs are great, most are forgettable. That said, it is listenable.
Lots of classic songs here. I'm not the biggest VH fan, but it is hard to deny how good some of these songs are and the impact they made on later musicians.
I don't care much for jazz, but Count Basie is on another level. This album was easy to get through.
A few okay songs, but largely a forgettable album. Some sound heavily influenced by The Doors, which is why this album does not need to be revisited.
Classic album with so many great songs.
This album just flat out rocks. This was a bit of a game changer in the 90s and has some really great songs. Perry Farrell is such a weird guy, but has some really witty and catchy lyrics. I come back to this album from time to time and will likely continue to do so for years to come.
Fun album that's super easy to listen to.
This album fucking rocks so hard.
I'm still surprised a few days later by how much I enjoyed this album, especially listening to it immediately after British Steel. The final song is dirty. I approve.
Dogshit.
Nearly flawless album. Politics, bombastic catchy jams, and plenty of funk. Incredible, timeless album.
Incredible from start to finish.
Largely forgettable.
Fantastic album and one I have never heard. I'll be back for more listens
I guess the guitar parts are really good?
I literally just finished listening to this album 10 minutes ago and have no recollection of any of the songs. So there's that.
Recognized a few songs. Reggae isn't something I go out of my way for, but it's fun to listen tom
Fun to see some early Irish punk, but not much else stands out or warrants another listen.
