User Albums Summary

Halfway through I was thinking this is a deeply inauspicious start to the User Albums section but ''Ghost Love Score came to the rescue.

4 stars might be a touch generous but I enjoyed that.

Dreading this & I've put it off for several days. It's as bad as everyone says & goes on forever.

Was this submitted as a piss take? As if 90+ minutes of Spose wasn't terrible enough this follows it & is another of level of bad altogether.

Totally brilliant I'm a new weenie...!! How have I never heard of these before & how did they not make the list?

The first track of this shite was enough to convince me to play something worth listening to while I was in the car & relegate the remaining garbage on this album (i.e. all of it) to background noise later in the day when I had a garden bench to sand down & repaint.

Austin Powers looms large over this one but it was a very pleasant listen. Was that really a 57 minute Cryptoscam video in the middle of this or did I just get unlucky with youTube's adserver.

Great music to work to. So long as your work involves a large amount of intrusive background noise which drowns out this steaming pile of doghit.

Here's a band & album that have been off my radar for many a year. Saw them absolutely smack a festival at Ally Pally in 1973 when I was 17. Andy Powell's rather weak soprano vocals were always a negative but the album's held up well otherwise. Thanks for reviving some long dormant memories

Not as good as I was expecting it to be, but given other comments maybe it merits a second listen.

Great musicianship but jazz isn't my bag I'm afraid.

I get how the playfulness might grate with some but I enjoyed a lot of this. 4 stars might be generous, but it's based on a feeling it'll improve on another listen.

One of those choices that leaves you wondering which one of the band is a mate.

Given that so much of it's lyrical content is vile homophobic & misogynistic crap is a rap album improved by not understanding what's being said? Whatever the answer, this is truly terrible.

I so much wanted to like this but it's not my humour I'm afraid & it doesn't translate very well outside the US

The list only had about 250 'American rock' groups playing the same indistinguishable stuff so we definitely needed another one.....

What a lovely voice would have been so nice to have seen her in concert.

It's The Quo, love it! Seriously, how can the original list have nothing of theirs but 4 albums of risible shite from the Beastie Boys & at least 100 'American rock' albums by groups who aren't fit to tune The Quo's guitars.

I band I knew of but hadn't really heard anything by. The little I knew wasn't very positive so I put off listening to this & did so with very low expectations. Surprisingly I enjoyed this way more than I expected,

Oh dear!! Everything bad about the 80's, illustrated by an unimaginably bad video. 2 is being very generous.

Pleasant enough but it feels like stuff Genesis did better & 40 years earlier.

Oh dear. I know he's from Sheffield &, even better, a Wednesdayite, but my goodness this is truly awful.

That was certainly a mixed bag, but it had it's moments.

Not my bag apart from the title track (which lifts this to a generous 3) but I really can't understand how this wasn't on The List given it's popularity & Hutchence's presence & impact.

The worst kind of American cheese..... ....apart maybe from that disgusting stuff that comes in spray cans.

There's no shortage of absolute bangers here but I'm afraid this just reinforces a long-held view that most live albums are neither fish nor fowl. They'll never match the audio quality of a studio album but very rarely capture the joy of being at a live concert.

Bit eclectic but it had it's moments.

Mike Skinner without vocal clarity. Proof that rap doesn't have to be a non-stop dirge of misogyny, homophobia, 'muthafucka' & celebrating a loser culture of drugs, gangs, juvenile strutting & violence. with audible vocals this would have been a decent album.

I've listened to 1167 albums & this is definitely in the bottom 30.

I didn't realise that 15 years after it'd sell-by date there were groups still churning out Prog Rock dirges like thjis.

A run of recent poor selections might have made this seem better than it is...!

He was chillingly good in the original C4 Top Boy series (haven't een the later Netflix relaunch so I can't comment on that). Shame that his other job is churning out standard-jssue, MF-laden rap garbage.

One of the better rap albums on this journey. Would have been a 3 but for gross over-use of the N-word.

WTAF. 4 albums of risible shite on the original list by the world's most ridiculous group was 3 too many, especially given some of the omissions. One of the rare occasions when I've been VERY seriously tempted to skip an album, but I'm so far invested in this project now that I'm seeing it through to the end. So, deep breath, count to 10, & here goes....... .....and 2 hours later - yep it was every bit as bad as I feared.

A great live band whose stage presence didn't always translate well onto their albums.

Whilst the reviewer who described it as an album which changed music has severely over egged the cake there's no doubt it's a significant omission from the list regardless of musical taste

Decent late-70's rock from a proper trooper.

Not my taste & getting both Madonna wannabe vibes & a general feeling that she just does this stuff much better. But given the hits on it & its significance it should have been on the list.

I enjoyed the opening track but not much after that. I'll go with the reviewer who called her a better Alanis Morrisette but I'm afraid that doesn't move the dial very far for me. £ is me feeling extremely generous.

Not the worst of it's ilk but waaaay toooo long. I grew out of this stuff when I hit 20. When I listen to yet another of these it seems firstly like I'm hearing the same album for about the 300th time since I started this project & secondly that in over half a century of trying no-one's found a better way of doing heavy rock than Deep Purple were doing in the early '70's

What an absolute lovely album. 'I stole the right live' is worth 5 stars by itself.

Absolutely loved this, it's a stunning omission from the original list, considering 4 albums of Beastie Boy dross made it.

An Ethiopian jazz sax & Dutch punk band - insane....!! Whoever thought of this & made it happen is an absolute genius.

One of those albums you want to like but it's all over the place really without hitting the mark anywhere.

Good singalong stuff, surprised it wasn't on the original list.

A bit mad in parts, some truly awful stuff but 'Houmous' & ' Au Revoir' made the playlist for further listening.

How on earth to rate this one...!!?? The first 2 tracks were awful & quite a few are much better but 'Screenager', 'Darkshines' & 'Megalomania' are absolute bangers. I can't give it the 5 those tracks deserve because there is some proper shite alongside it, but 3 is way too mean.

There's a point where elevator muzak becomes cool background vibes. This one's on the right side of that divide. Hovered between 3 & 4, but it's an album I'll listen to again & I'm very certain it'll improve on further listening so a 4 it is.

I get the Michael Bay soundtrack comments but come on folks, some of the comments are way OTT. Yes, it's a bit naff & I sure won't be playing it again but there's far worse on the list that's escaped the hammering this has attracted.

So he cuts an absurd presence & hardly sings a note, but his band is always brilliant, everything's tight & on point & it all works. Another of those albums where you shake your head at how this didn't make the list but 4 albums of Beastie Boy tripe did.

Yes it's not very good for sure, but it doesn't merit the pelters it's getting on here. If I was in a torture chamber an hour of Beastie Boys would get me confessing much quicker than an hour of this

I only knew their '80's heyday stuff so this wasn't what I was expecting! It's a bit 'meh' though tbh.....

It's a great album & I want to dig out the film as well, but I can't help feeling it's a bit of a cheat within the terms of reference for this project.

It's a shame this version was chosen, they're take on 'Country Roads' (which is on the other one, is fantastic. Still a brilliant choice though.

Well I seem to be out on a limb here but to me this is just a bunch of smug folks who aren't close to being as clever & funny as they think they are. A few tracks in I'm thinking this is shaping up to be 2 stars but it just got more & more annoying.

This one immediately follows They Might be Giants. We seem to be in a sub section which is 'Tedious people who they're funny'.

Even without, ahem, 'all the other stuff', this is genuinely awful.
