Popular Reviews

Dear You by Jawbreaker

I struggle to differentiate between any of this American punky-pop stuff, all seems a bit insubstantial to me. Is this better than Blink182 et al?. Possibly, but it's a low bar.

Mezzanine by Massive Attack

Outstanding masterpiece of an album. An astonishing omission from the original list and a fantastic submission to this one.

The Mantle by Agalloch

Dark and broody and sounds somehow Scottish (I know, they're from the US really). Also a bit like the Scottish football team, comes loaded with hope and expectation and occasional moments of brilliance but still somehow manages not to fully deliver. Good album overall though

TEKKNO by Electric Callboy

Thank you for answering a question that didn't need to be asked - is there a place for a metal-europop crossover? No, there isn't, it's a terrible idea and this album unequivocally and definitively confirms this.

Excitable Boy by Warren Zevon

Liked this more that I would've expected, my initial thoughts were 'less camp Elton John' but it turned out to be far more interesting -the storytelling was great. Another good choice album

Ultra Blue by Hikaru Utada
Nov 28 2025

Glad to have been introduced to a new sub-genre of music, the true spirit of this project. Sadly a bit too repetitive, and the switch in and out of different languages started to irritate but overall it was nicely done

The Lion's Roar by First Aid Kit
Dec 01 2025

A bit too country-esque for me but a very pleasant chilled and laid back vibe

Rip It Off by Times New Viking
Dec 02 2025

Blurry. Like my hangover.

Grace And Danger by John Martyn
Dec 03 2025

The 80s vibe jarred and ruined this for me. Solid Air was a better choice.

I Am by Earth, Wind & Fire
Dec 04 2025

Polished & passable disco funk I suppose but it's all a bit tired and vapid. Good as it is, Boogie Wonderland can't carry the rest of the album

Fully Completely by The Tragically Hip
Dec 05 2025

Very 90s (which is fine), very REM (which is less fine). It's not that it's bad, more that it just doesn't float my boat

Fashion Nugget by CAKE
Dec 09 2025

Like Beck with trumpets, which is not a bad thing at all. Not sure how I'd not listened to this before, think I might've got distracted by electronica through the 90s

10,000 gecs by 100 gecs
Dec 10 2025

Wow! That was fun, thank you!

Pinkerton by Weezer
Dec 11 2025

Darker lyrics seem at odds with the band's jaunty style. The whole thing just doesn't work for.me, but I never was much of a Weezer fan for some reason

All Hour Cymbals by Yeasayer
Dec 12 2025

Rich & complex immersive stuff; love it! Good album

Come And Get It by Rachel Stevens
Dec 15 2025

A triumph of style over substance. Very much of it's time, a pretty vapid attempt to capture some kind of kitsch vibe.

Contra by Vampire Weekend
Dec 16 2025

Competent and pleasant enough but nothing that Paul Simon didn't do 40 years ago

Script Of The Bridge by The Chameleons
Dec 17 2025

Always a fan of their dark droning post-punk sound though by the end of it I sort of want to shout out 'Oh come on mate, cheer up a bit'. Surprised it wasn't on the original list, so good shout

Tales Of Mystery And Imagination by The Alan Parsons Project
Dec 18 2025

I'm not a fan of prog rock and I generally don't go for concept albums either so this was never going to be top of my list. That said, it's certainly better than I expected

Out of the Blue by Debbie Gibson
Dec 19 2025

Is this some kind of in-joke? I don't get it and it's not funny

Human Racing by Nik Kershaw
Dec 22 2025

I lived this hell vicariously through my teenage sister the first time around. Revisiting it is not enhancing my life in any way

Dec 23 2025

Seminal punk album driven by an unwavering political stance - take a look Johnny, no butter advertising in this timeline. Sadly ironic that the 'pay no more than £3' originals are now so expensively collectable but it is a reflection of how important and highly regarded this band is. Great album choice.

Bon Iver by Bon Iver
Dec 24 2025

Perfectly fine but rather forgettable. Apart from the last track which stuck in my head as weirdly out of keeping with the rest of the album, it was very 80s-ballad-y

Dec 25 2025

Something compelling about the melancholy lyrics drew me back after a rather underwhelming first listen. Liked it more second time around, good album choice

Dec 29 2025

Not bad but lost me after the first few tracks when it all started to sound very similar.

TEKKNO by Electric Callboy
Dec 30 2025

Thank you for answering a question that didn't need to be asked - is there a place for a metal-europop crossover? No, there isn't, it's a terrible idea and this album unequivocally and definitively confirms this.

Excitable Boy by Warren Zevon
Dec 31 2025

Liked this more that I would've expected, my initial thoughts were 'less camp Elton John' but it turned out to be far more interesting -the storytelling was great. Another good choice album

A.M. by Wilco
Jan 01 2026

I'm not a fan of the country influences and it's all so very mid-90s sounding. Just doesn't work for me, sorry

Body Talk by Robyn
Jan 02 2026

At its best this is pretty pop perfection, but there's a lot of less than perfect filler tracks too.

A Live One by Phish
Jan 05 2026

Feels more 70s than 90s. It's not that the music is particularly bad in itself, but I am struggling to see the relevance or value of a lengthy live jam session album.

The Great Outdoors Jam by Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
Jan 06 2026

Another extended.jam session album that I'm struggling to understand why it's here or even why it exists. It's all very competently done, but it just ultimately sounds very self-indulgent and unnecessary

Older by Lizzy McAlpine
Jan 07 2026

Pleasant enough if slightly underwhelming,, didn't really work for me

10,000 Days by TOOL
Jan 08 2026

I'm surprised that Tool weren't on the 1001 list, they do what they do very well. This album is a bit too long & overblown at times though and nothing particularly stands out for me

Yellow & Green by Baroness
Jan 09 2026

Dreadful. Too long, the (relatively) interesting tracks are lost on a sea of generic not-metal-enough/trying-too-hard-to-be-metal mediocrity

Songs Of A Lost World by The Cure
Jan 12 2026

Another well-honed but hardly ground-breaking album from everyone's favorite goth granny. Whether this earns any kind of legendary status only time will tell, though I personally doubt it. Given that the Cure are already well represented on the original list I'm certainly surprised and maybe a little disappointed to see this album nominated to this list so soon after its release

Take It From The Man by The Brian Jonestown Massacre
Jan 13 2026

Yeah sure it's a bit derivative but it's well done and an enjoyable listen, maybe a little bit too long. Good album choice though

Englabörn by Jóhann Jóhannsson
Jan 14 2026

So ambient it barely registered. Like a soundtrack to a film that I fell asleep to - comfortable and not unpleasant but a bit annoying that I missed what was going on

Erratic Cinematic by Gerry Cinnamon
Jan 15 2026

Without adding bagpipes could this be any more Scottish? Likeable enough, not something I'm likely to revisit but not bad by any means

World Of Echo by Arthur Russell
Jan 16 2026

I enjoyed this until I didn't. The experimentalism initially grabbed me but then somewhere in the middle I oscillated between drifting off, finding it fascinating and finding it a bit annoying. Better shorter

Reconstruction Site by The Weakerthans
Jan 19 2026

When the album notes promise something more interesting than the album itself

Hand. Cannot. Erase. by Steven Wilson
Jan 21 2026

I thought the album title sounded like a what three words address but the closest I could find was hand.carrot.erase which is a small patch of the South Atlantic Ocean to the southeast of the Falkland Islands.

Katamari Damacy by Various Artists
Jan 22 2026

Whilst there's occasional moments of brilliance that lift it above what ultimately just sounds like a game soundtrack, it is ultimately just a game soundtrack and I'm not sure that makes for a great album. That said, I did enjoy those moments of brilliance

The Impossible Kid by Aesop Rock
Jan 23 2026

For all the technical and lyrical skill going on here it somehow felt a little bit flat and cold

Mm..Food by MF DOOM
Jan 26 2026

Witty, fun, accomplished. A startling omission from the original list

Is Ellipsis by Psyche Origami
Jan 27 2026

Enjoyable old-school beats

Telefone by Noname
Jan 28 2026

Liked this, nothing outstanding but easy enough to get into.

Bob Mould by Bob Mould
Jan 29 2026

Doesn't really add much to what we've already heard from Hüsker Dü or Sugar, it's just more of the same really so I'm not sure that it warrants a place on this list

Brat by Charli xcx
Jan 30 2026

Not sure if this knows really what it wants to be or if it's me not knowing what I want it to be. But I found it simultaneously irritating (especially the auto-tune excess) and intriguing, though probably more of the former to be honest. Maybe time will tell but I doubt this will be seen as a pivotal music moment.

Game of Fools by Koritni
Feb 02 2026

This boat sailed decades ago. Come on boys, keep up.

Choirs Of The Eye by Kayo Dot
Feb 04 2026

Chucking your drum kit down the stairs isn't the best way to start an album but it does set the tone. Had its moments but I guess avant-garde metal is not for me

Feb 05 2026

It's not bad. It's just a little bit dull and generic sounding and nothing really exciting or new. I appreciate that. It holds a nostalgic pull for some but not for me

Black Devil Disco Club by Black Devil Disco Club
Feb 06 2026

Awesome record! Really enjoyed this, great addition to the list.

Squeezing Out Sparks by Graham Parker
Feb 09 2026

Solid album choice. +1 for sounding like Elvis Costello. -1 for sounding like Elvis Costello.

Gordon by Barenaked Ladies
Feb 10 2026

Like a Canadian Housemartins, just not as good

Control by Pedro The Lion
Feb 11 2026

Rather morose grunge-tinged indie landfill

Has A Good Home by Final Fantasy
Feb 12 2026

Interesting start but I found my interest quickly waning. By the end of the album I'd pretty much switched off which was a disappointment

Relatives in Descent by Protomartyr
Feb 13 2026

I hear the Nick Cave comparisons but this is great, this stands up in its own right. Great album .Glad I've been introduced to this band, I'll certainly look out some more of their stuff

Broken Social Scene by Broken Social Scene
Feb 16 2026

This was fine. Just fine. Nothing bad but it just didn't stir anything or excite me or even interest me by the end. Maybe I'd feel differently with some kind of nostalgic connection, but for me the very definition of a three star album

Dear You by Jawbreaker
Feb 17 2026

I struggle to differentiate between any of this American punky-pop stuff, all seems a bit insubstantial to me. Is this better than Blink182 et al?. Possibly, but it's a low bar.

Alive 2007 by Daft Punk
Feb 18 2026

This was far, far better than it had any right to be.

Nurture by Porter Robinson
Feb 19 2026

This sounds like the sort of music that plays in in those oh so cool shops and bars (just to be clear, that's not a good thing, nor a recommendation)

Thank Christ for the Bomb by The Groundhogs
Feb 20 2026

Authentic sounding, sits just the right side of psychedelic weirdness-infused blues-rock. Good choice.

Version 2.0 by Garbage
Feb 23 2026

Not bad,, but doesn't really add much or move things forward from the first album

Feb 25 2026

"So how do you like your pop served?" "I think I'd like standard á la mode girl pop with a little bit of spice please, sort of 2023-style" "Here you go" ... "And how did you find your pop today?" "It's all good thanks" (but really thinking "don't think I'll try that again, not really spicy enough for my taste")

Fear of a Blank Planet by Porcupine Tree
Feb 26 2026

Competent enough but doesn't convince me that 'modern' and 'prog' belong in the same sentence

Jaco Pastorius by Jaco Pastorius
Feb 27 2026

There were tracks in here that I enjoyed but they were far outnumbered and overshadowed by the ones that I didn't. As an album it felt very disjointed and disconnected. Not one for me I'm afraid

No.1 In Heaven by Sparks
Mar 02 2026

Back to the future! Great stuff, must've sounded wild back in 1979

My Love Is Cool by Wolf Alice
Mar 03 2026

A band I keep hearing about but have never got round to giving them a listen, enjoyed it.

Mad Dogs & Englishmen by Joe Cocker
Mar 04 2026

Decent enough blues-rock covers, but I'm just not sure that it's decent enough to warrant nomination.

Mar 05 2026

I've been meaning to look out some Khruangbin for some time and it didn't disappoint, loved the chilled vibe. Great stuff.

Mar 06 2026

Doesn't live up to the greatness of Brutalism but still a good album. Sadly time and the subsequent albums have taken the shine off it for me though

Mar 09 2026

Great album, evokes lots of happy memories but still a great album in its own right. Good choice, thanks!

Funeral Dress by Wussy
Mar 10 2026

Solid indie rock, something just lifted it a bit from the landfill of similar sounding stuff

Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie
Mar 12 2026

Wow! Rocks like Coldplay rocks. Impressively shit

Young Team by Mogwai
Mar 13 2026

Mogwai and GY!BE were both on my shortlist of albums to nominate so I'm very happy that both are on this list. My dilemma continues... This is an epic album, five stars all day long.

Misplaced Childhood by Marillion
Mar 17 2026

So very 80s. Even if the music itself is questionable at times this reminds me of some great times and great mates. A three star album elevated to four due to the power of nostalgia

F♯ A♯ ∞ by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Mar 18 2026

Outstanding album, one of my all time favourites.

Harbor Lights by Bruce Hornsby
Mar 19 2026

Dreadful, I struggled to find anything enjoyable here. It's the antithesis of everything that music should be in my view.

Geography by Tom Misch
Mar 20 2026

Competently dull.

Pony Express Record by Shudder To Think
Mar 23 2026

Initial spark of interest quickly waned. About 50 minutes too long

Speak & Spell by Depeche Mode
Mar 24 2026

Patchy, pop-heavy debut, I much prefer the later & darker DM though

A1A by Jimmy Buffett
Mar 25 2026

Quite an achievement to manage to make country sound even worse than it usually does

Ruin by The Amazing Devil
Mar 26 2026

Like a soundtrack to a Lord of the Rings-esque film. All very dramatic and worthy and a little bit over the top. Worth a listen but only the once for me

Stage Four by Touché Amoré
Mar 27 2026

Musically so-so, but the lyrics have a power that resonates

Magnolia Electric Co. by Songs: Ohia
Mar 30 2026

Couple of duff tracks broke the spell but overall a rather enjoyable slice of mellow loveliness

The Mantle by Agalloch
Mar 31 2026

Dark and broody and sounds somehow Scottish (I know, they're from the US really). Also a bit like the Scottish football team, comes loaded with hope and expectation and occasional moments of brilliance but still somehow manages not to fully deliver. Good album overall though

Super Ape by The Upsetters
Apr 01 2026

Dubtastic!

Y Ahora Qué? by Reincidentes
Apr 02 2026

No idea what they're on about but they sound like they mean it and it was energetic and fun to listen to

Crack the Skye by Mastodon
Apr 03 2026

Expectations met. Done reasonably well but nothing that hasn't been done decades before

Comfort To Me by Amyl and The Sniffers
Apr 06 2026

Love this, punky perfection.

Spilt Milk by Jellyfish
Apr 07 2026

Must have seemed like a good idea to someone but a Supertramp-Queen hybrid band/album was never going to land well for me

Penguin Eggs by Nic Jones
Apr 08 2026

Well that was all very quaint and lovely and really rather enjoyable, loved the storytelling

Only Death is Real by Stray From The Path
Apr 09 2026

RATM did it better. This is just tiresome

McDonald and Giles by Ian McDonald
Apr 10 2026

The briefly annoying and jarring parts detracted from what was otherwise an interesting, if forgettable, album.

Vs. by Pearl Jam
Apr 13 2026

When pearl jam landed in the early '90s, my head was in a very different space musically and I thought they were derivative and a bit dull. Never really changed that view, it just doesn't excite me - it's fine but I can't see that I would ever choose to listen to it

RENAISSANCE by Beyoncé
Apr 14 2026

Not my thing but not nearly as bad as I'd feared. Still not convinced it belongs on this list though

Promises by Floating Points
Apr 15 2026

Very chilled, so ambient I almost missed it.

Modern Vampires of the City by Vampire Weekend
Apr 16 2026

Ineffectual sounding, never really developed and started to grate after a few tracks

Sublime by Sublime
Apr 17 2026

Some fun ska-punky tracks, some less fun tracks too. Mostly fun though.

Re by Café Tacvba
Apr 20 2026

Eclectic fun, and the kind of.thing I was hoping for from this list - an album or a genre new to me that I wouldn't otherwise have come across

30 Something by Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine
Apr 21 2026

I preferred 101 Damnations but this is still unstoppably great. Bonus points for Fruitbat's live on TV rugby tackle on Phillip Schofield.

Odyssey Number Five by Powderfinger
Apr 22 2026

Not great but not bad either. Perfectly straight down the middle

Slapstick by Slapstick
Apr 24 2026

Ska-punk is a difficult blend to get right. This was energetic fun but ultimately I think these guys were right to throw in the towel

Rose Mountain by Screaming Females
Apr 27 2026

Proper enjoyable punky grooves, liked her voice

Blizzard Of Ozz by Ozzy Osbourne
Apr 28 2026

Far too cheesy. It was alright but not great, apart from Crazy Train which was ace

Highway Prayers by Billy Strings
Apr 29 2026

MORBUD4ME was just laughable and an hour and a quarter was far too long but this was not nearly as bad as I had feared. Still not really my thing though.

Hammersmith Odeon, London '75 by Bruce Springsteen
Apr 30 2026

Total waste.of time. I already knew that I don't need Bruce Springsteen in my life and two more hours of this shit was never going to convince me otherwise. Tedious nonsense.

Fly by Yoko Ono
May 01 2026

Dragging us all into this new level of hell is an unforgivable act of aural shithousery.

Wet Leg by Wet Leg
May 05 2026

Fun, irreverent, witty. There is still hope and life left in modern alternative music

How to Operate With a Blown Mind by Lo Fidelity Allstars
May 06 2026

Biding its time for a(nother?) 90s electronica revival. In the meantime it's still a fun listen though.

Mouth Sounds by Neil Cicierega
May 07 2026

The zombie corpse of the mashup just won't stay down. Hilariously shit and a bold choice, but ultimately the joke wears a bit thin

May 08 2026

Not sure how Interpol had fallen off my radar. Somewhat generic sounding (reminded me of the Chameleons, Strokes, etc) but done well and an enjoyable listen

Chet by Chet Baker
May 11 2026

Lovely, proper Sunday morning stuff

Gemstones by Adam Green
May 12 2026

Intriguing and irritating by equal measure. Actually, irritating wins out.

City Of Evil by Avenged Sevenfold
May 13 2026

This resurrected corpse of '80s metal doesn't make '80s metal any better. Good drummer though

Cracker Island by Gorillaz
May 15 2026

The fact that this is the eighth Gorillaz album somehow simultaneously surprised and didn't surprise me but after the freshness of their initial stuff they seem to have just got a bit stale and tired. I wanted to like this more, to be reminded of the greatness that Gorillaz can be. Sadly this album didn't do it, nor any of the preceding ones really.

Nightbirds by LaBelle
May 18 2026

Lady Marmalade is outstanding of course, but the rest of the album supports it superbly. A startling omission from the original list. Great choice!

The Evil One by Roky Erickson
May 21 2026

Initial impression - not great, but it kinda grew on me as iit progressed, enjoyed a second listen much more

We Rock Hard by Freestylers
May 22 2026

Dated, too long, not great

Young, Loud And Snotty by Dead Boys
May 25 2026

Sounds like punk and looks like punk, but apart from a couple of moments it just seemed to missing the anger and the wit that I associate with early punk

Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads
May 26 2026

Even better with the film but nonetheless, without it this is still an absolute belter of an album.

Love Is Hell by Ryan Adams
May 27 2026

No, love is not hell. Ryan Adams' albums are hell, and we've already had two of the bloody things on the main list.

Goat by The Jesus Lizard
May 28 2026

Love this, a very welcome wake up album this morning. Still able to hold its own after 35 years which is impressive

Discipline by King Crimson
May 29 2026

Not a fan of prog rock generally but I do have a soft spot for King Crimson and this is a great album

Jun 01 2026

Interesting take on nu-metal, but was never gonna convince me to.invest (waste) more time in the genre

WORRY by Jeff Rosenstock
Jun 03 2026

Like this album enjoyed its raucous energy

Souvlaki by Slowdive
Jun 04 2026

Neat distillation of the genre, perfectly captures the essence of shoegaze.

Metallic K.O. by The Stooges
Jun 08 2026

Great live album, but who the hell takes eggs to a gig?

New York by Lou Reed
Jun 09 2026

Lou Reed doing what Lou Reed does best, one of his better ones

St. Jude by Courteeners
Jun 11 2026

A good album and on the original list I'd have scored a four but here it's just more of the same and not what I'm looking for from this list - I was looking for something a bit more challenging

Night Drive by Chromatics
Jun 12 2026

Love this, effortlessly cool and atmospheric. Not sure the Kate Bush cover added a lot more but I did like the whole thing

Home Sweet Home by Kano
Jun 15 2026

This was better than I thought it would be

GLOW ON by Turnstile
Jun 16 2026

Good shout. This deserves a place on the original list

Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown
Jun 17 2026

What's with that voice? Straight outta Sesame Street?

Boys And Girls in America by The Hold Steady
Jun 18 2026

Perfectly fine Sugar-esque vibes. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing to excite me. Sorry

Designer by Aldous Harding
Jun 19 2026

Nicely chilled album , bit too slow for me on occasion but an enjoyable listen overall

Fantasies by Metric
Jun 22 2026

Some strong tracks but quite a few generic indie-landfill ones too.

Pop Art by Transvision Vamp
Jun 23 2026

Fun '80s trash that hasn't aged too well. Trouble is it wasn't really very good in the first place was it?

Up To Here by The Tragically Hip
Jun 24 2026

Satisfactory. No more, no less

Mezzanine by Massive Attack
Jun 25 2026

Outstanding masterpiece of an album. An astonishing omission from the original list and a fantastic submission to this one.

Madvillainy by Madvillain
Jun 26 2026

Shocking omission from the original list. This rewards repeated listens, something new pops out each time

Six by Mansun
Jun 29 2026

Solid 3 star album

Deadwing by Porcupine Tree
Jun 30 2026

Better than Fear of a Blank Planet but that set the bar low. No more PT please, it's just not really my thing.

Silent Alarm by Bloc Party
Jul 01 2026

One of those albums I feel I should like more but it always comes up disappointingly underwhelming

Nonagon Infinity by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Jul 02 2026

Well that was fun! Worth seeking out

Shakespeare My Butt... by Lowest of the Low
Jul 03 2026

Inoffensive but forgettable I feel like there's lots and lots and lots of bands like this, all doing the same sort of thing, and most of them seem to pop up on this list

Jul 06 2026

Don't know this band, liked this album. Lots of snippets that reminded me of other music of the early/mid 90s but without being derivative, evoked lots of happy memories.

Almoraima by Paco de Lucía
Jul 08 2026

These are the the little gems that make tolerable all the relentless streaks of hipster alternative rock/folk/indie/whatever bollocks in this list. Great nomination, thank you

We Like It Here by Snarky Puppy
Jul 09 2026

Not one for me, all a bit too earnestly 'jazz' but I appreciate that others appreciate it more than me

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel
Jul 10 2026

Surprised this wasn't on the original list given its cult status. That said, it is just another indie-folk album, albeit a good one, in an already crowded scene

Suzuki by Tosca
Jul 13 2026

Nice background vibes, not so sure it stands up well to an active listen though. The dub version is more interesting

Days Of Future Passed by The Moody Blues
Jul 14 2026

If this is genesis for progrock then these guys have got a hell of a lot to answer for. And why does every track seem to have to start like a Disney soundtrack?

Out Of Time by R.E.M.
Jul 15 2026

Do I need/want/have time for any more R.E.M. in my life? Definitively, no

Enema Of The State by blink-182
Jul 16 2026

Vapid guitar pop. I get that for some people this will hold nostalgic value, perhaps recalling the discovery that there's more to music than just vapid teen pop? But come on man, even if that journey starts with Blink 182 (et al), it doesn't end there. Embarrassing.

Korn by Korn
Jul 17 2026

That this is cringeworthy childish nonsense is a given; that they're still touring this shit thirty years later is just embarrassingly awful.

Lateralus by TOOL
Jul 20 2026

I like what Tooll do and their albums are always engaging. Whether we need so many on this list though is questionable

"Awaken, My Love!" by Childish Gambino
Jul 22 2026

Not what I was expecting, and all the better for it

Deltron 3030 by Deltron 3030
Jul 23 2026

Can you have too much of a good thing? Possibly, this is a bit too long, but it's still a good thing

My Brain Hurts by Screeching Weasel
Jul 24 2026

More standard pop punk fun but nothing special

Jul 27 2026

Wow! Totally awful batshit-crazy cheese-fest with added annoying shouty-talky delivery moments. I'm glad this exists and very glad that it has meaning for someone but it really doesn't for me

Eye by Robyn Hitchcock
Jul 28 2026

I'm quite a fan of Robyn Hitchcock's gentle quirky humour. Good choice

Shallow Bed by Dry the River
Jul 29 2026

Not bad but struggles to stand out in a crowded market of hipster folk-rock albums

Triage by David Baerwald
Jul 30 2026

Couldn't sustain the interest of the first few tracks and quickly tailed off into nothing special.

Music Complete by New Order
Jul 31 2026

I'm a big fan of New Order but a bit like the band this album just.keeps on going and doesn't know when to quit. Not thier finest hour (and 4 minutes). It's like New Order diluted to homeopathic levels.

Argus by Wishbone Ash
Aug 03 2026

Not necessarily my taste and certainly excessive in lots of.proggy ways, but despite this it's somehow still not bad.

Cor-Crane Secret by Polvo
Aug 04 2026

Enjoyed this, not heard Polvo before so I'm glad to have been introduc3d

Science Fiction by Brand New
Aug 05 2026

Rather generic sounding, it didn't really add much to the genre or to the list

Puzzle by Biffy Clyro
Aug 06 2026

Straightforward by the numbers modern rock album, but none the worse for it

The Monitor by Titus Andronicus
Aug 07 2026

Enjoyed this, gonna be one to revisit I think

Aug 10 2026

Very Laurel and Hardy-esque. I get the cultural significance but it's a bit wearing and repetitive to listen to. I prefer Laurel and Hardy

Whipped Cream & Other Delights by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass
Aug 11 2026

What's not to like? About as easy as easy listening gets, which is both a criticism and a recommendation

Repetition by Unwound
Aug 12 2026

Fine but... repetitive?

Aug 13 2026

C'mon on boys (it's always boys?), inject a little wit and humour and innovation into this. It's rather repetitive whining but if that's the look you were going for I guess it worked okay, though it feels a little lazy

Nearer My God by Foxing
Aug 14 2026

I liked this. It reminds me of lots of bands that I also like a lot, it's not quite as good as them but it's not bad

Forced Witness by Alex Cameron
Aug 17 2026

Struggling to see the point of this to be honest. Terrible in just about every dimension

Ruby Vroom by Soul Coughing
Aug 18 2026

This probably a half decent album hiding in this somewhere, but as it is it's too long and it just gets annoying
