Hey! The Tears in rain monologue is in this one too. Guess it will go down in history.
But not as much as all-star will. It will be passed down to generations through memory when WW3 inevitably wipes out all human connectivity and the internet. Then still, the years will start coming. And they don't stop coming. We must be fed to the rules, and hit the ground running. Cause didn't they say not to live for fun? Your brain gets smart, but your head gets dumb. So much to do so much to see, so what's wrong with taking the backstreets? Well, you never know if you don't go, you'll never shine if you don't glow.
Hey now. You're a five star

Hahaha what the fuck, I didn't expect to see this on here in a million years.
This guy is insanely prolific when it comes to internet culture. You might not recognize his name, but if you were online for at least a microsecond in the 2000s, you'll most likely recognize at least one thing he did. "Brodyquest", "Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny", "Potter Puppet Pals", or his musical project "Lemon Demon".
Maybe some better representation would have been his genuine, non-jokey album "Spirit Phone" (geeky synthpop, it's pretty good), but I can definitely also get behind how funny throwing this hour long album with Smash Mouth and Full House samples at unsuspecting users truly is. And it's a genuine banger at times - songs like "Daft Mouth" and "Mullet with Butterfly Wings" have no business working as well as they do.
It's extremely stupid, creative fun and I refuse to pretend I'm above it. A 4/5 from me. I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but sometimes you just listen to an album and say to yourself: "Yep, what a concept".

Do you know when people mix their senses and they can hear colors and taste sounds? Synesthesia? Yeah that, this album gave me that!
If you grew up in the 90s, this album will unlock good memories.

I was more than familiar with Neil's one-off videos on Youtube from my teen years, but had never known about these full-lengths, so thank you for bringing this one to my attention. I would be curious as to the age breakdown on the ratings for this one β if you've never heard Neil's work I would get why you'd be confused and angry, but to me (and most of the young-ish folks here) it's a complete encapsulation of the early 2010s-era internet in the best way possible.
Don't let the Smash Mouth samples fool you, Cicierega is an artist in every sense of the word. To sample and juxtapose so many disparate tracks into one cohesive 4-minute slab of insanity at a time shows some serious musical insight; to continually morph the same samples into distinct tracks that form their own meta-text is genius. I would love to see the stem map or hear a commentary on where this guy's mind was while making this album just to know what neurons fired to connect some of these tracks together. This brought me back to my teen years in the best way possible, reminding me of a pre-Spotify age where aimless Youtube wandering (without ads!) was a prime pastime and streaming service, and the world seemed much less serious. Funnily enough, the people whining about this not being on Spotify are emphasizing what a product of the times this is β they've clearly never had to comb Youtube for a blatant CD rip ([FULL ALBUM]) because it was the only way to listen and it shows!

Had a good laugh with this album. Some mashups are surprisingly good (Bills Like Jean Spirit, Daft Mouth).
Others are hilarious (Imma Let It Be, The Sharpest Tool).
All by all, very entertaining

It's kind of a joke album, but I had a lot of fun listening to it. It's just packed full of jokes, and the mashups are based on bops, so it's a fun trip. It's the best version of Chocolate Rain that I've heard.

Interesting choice, although I canβt quite get behind having this on the list. When I hear Daft Punk and think back to their live album this is a pale shadow. Not terrible, but not really before you die worthy in my book.

Mouth Sounds is a mashup mixtape from 2014. As far as I can remember mashups were a popular thing around 2000-2005. I cannot find a thing this album adds to the tracks released a decade earlier by dj's (f.e. Soulwax's Dewaele brothers) and mainstream artists like Kylie Minogue. Bills Like Jean Spirit sounds annoying and clumsy with the voices of Cobain and Jackson fighting for the spotlight. Mashups are a nice trick, but most of the time they just sound gimmicky and outdated.

This is some sort of troll job of an album right. Every song has some sort of smash mouth mixed in and sometimes itβs comical other times itβs stupidly annoying. Some of the mashups are creative and not bad to listen to but some songs are so terrible to hear that it bordered frustration. This was one to avoid. 2.1/10

Ok. Firstly, I did not appreciate having to listen on You Tube.
Secondly, soooo much Smash Mouth.
Thirdly, I get the concept of βif it isnβt broken donβt try to fix itβ but maybe change things up every now and then? Never been so glad to hear some Enya.
Finally - it was a bit much. I think this sort of concept is a little and (not so) often kinda thing.

Listening to 1-2 tracks can be amusing, but then it just gets annoying. Individual tracks 3-4 stars, but 2 for the album.

Listened to about 20 minutes on YouTube (full album is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjWkO15-gcE) and had to stop.
It's basically Girl Talk with memes. I would normally give it 1/5, but since I can recognize that there is some talent here, bumping up to a 2/5.

This pretty much annoyed the ever loving out of me throughout. I just think the whole mashup thing is pure gimmick, whatever virtue is present is boosted from the source material. It's also not half as clever as it thinks it is. I get it, the recurrent theme is All Star. I get the joke. There were a few brief transcendent moments when I felt like it turned into something more than the sum of its parts, and I guess I learned that the lyrics of Chocolate Rain, a song I heard about but never listened to, are actually sort of interesting. Otherwise no thanks.

This album was okay, but it's hard to take as too meaningful. If this was made in 2005, I could see it, but in 2014, this was not a groundbreaking album, and there were plenty of artists who were doing this style of mashup much better. It's kind of funny and quirky, but it doesn't feel like there's a lot of artistry to it
2/5

A few fun moments, Mullet with Butterfly Wings was my favorite, but the basic idea doesn't sustain an hour long exploration. Some of the mash ups were more amusing in concept than execution. Also looks like the sharer didn't actually finish the project?

Yeah so Mouth Sounds will grab your attention early because it's a bunch of edge-lord mashups from 20 years ago and it's fun in bitesize, but then you have a WHOLE HOUR of it and it's pretty annoying pretty quickly. There's also a load of Smashmouth which again, the novelty wears off super quickly. It's a 1/5 because it's not good and it's only fun for a coupla minutes unless you're 12.
