Was nervous to listen to this. Did not go in with high expectations. Had to skip Mr shit song. Song no.3 pretty annoying. Song 1 best so far. Find this vocalist so punishing "smile like you mean it". I think I have Brightside PTSD. Holy shit, this album has somebody told me on it as well. Chart topper. Oh no, I hate this song as well. These lyrics are pure ass, shit myself. Organs on song 5 are interesting, oh no back to simple shit. I got soul but im not a soldier is a dumbass line. Song 5 sucks. Andy your a star isn't too terrible. On top sounds like every other song. Change your mind is very simple, not in a charming way. When is this album going to end. Thank god only 4 left. "You got a real short skirt I want to look up look up look up" - horrible. Everything will be alright is actually pretty good and moody so far, kinda like it. Atmospheric. Fav song yet. Last song is just ok. Rating: 3/10 (assuming most of these albums are influential/good).
Too jazz heavy for my taste. Listened on an airplane and had to skip through some songs. To my ears it all sounds too similar. Not my style, I tried.
Backdrifts kinda slaps, aint gonna lie. Quite nice so far, definitely can hear the progression from kid A -> In Rainbows. Okay Backdrifts properly slaps. Where I end you begin is pretty tasty, yummy. Also very varied sound. Honestly, on first listen this has been pretty good, which is not always the case for even really good radiohead albums in the past. Think this may be a sneaky good one for my taste. There There is nice track. I will is very different as well, slow harmonies. Nice contrast. I'm feeling a solid 4 tbh.
Positive vibe thus far. Love the keyboard and ambience. All I need slaps a little too hard. Great work music. Talisman is epic. You make it easy is beautiful, this album is amazingly relaxing. some songs have some slight drag, but this looking like a 4. I'm finding the distinction between 3 and 4 very difficult. 3 seems to bad, but 4 seems quite high.
Love some songs, quite slow though
Album had a few bangers, very unique. My previous notes had fav tracks but got deleted. The backside started to feel repetitive (loops) and kinda annoying which was difficult to vibe with, was on the bus.
Harder to swallow with the artist have those allegations against him, confusing. Not overly impressed with the opener. I'm not going to complete this listen for now.
Since I left you is not what I expected. Flight tonight is kinda a poopy. Quiet electronic but really feels like it could have come out yesterday not 22 years ago. Frontier psychiatrist sounds awesome. Not quite my cup of tea, but does sound like a multiple listen sorta album. Wouldn't hate revisiting.
eDgY. So far not bad (on washer), not afraid to change pace and throw random surprising sections in. But so far not blown away by the choices and sounds like an angsty teen a little too much. Just checked RYM, may have been a bit to critical, but I honestly have not been blown away yet. Also looks like they only had one proper album. Solid 3
Not bad, very listenable. Bit slow
Yeah pretty cool, wasn't a focused listen tbh. There is potential
Now that's some jazz I can get into. Very experimental.
Damn boi, what a banger. One of my favs all time. So visual, moody and extreme. Love so many tunes sonically and so fun to listen. Some skits run a little tired after a while but some are entertaining and very much suit the vibe of the album. My favourite Eminem album. 9.2/10
Nice start, good vibe. Oh I'm going to like this aren't I. Don't love mojo pin but is very different. Grace hits hard. Lilac wine mmmm. Too busy to right notes, but he holds it down for the final track Forget Her. Very pleasant experience. Closer to a 5 than a 3, but gonna have to go 4. But can see myself absolutely treasuring this in the future.
Not too shabby, I can see why she was selected by mister Campbells soup to join the velvety ones. In facts sounds so reminiscent that I'm thinking lou contributed. Yes I was correct, also came out after the aforementioned debut album. Producer added strings and flutes against wishes, don't totally disagree with producer man, but artist should have control... I'll keep it with mine was by bobby boy, interesting. Eulogy was very cool closer, haunting a little bit. Very enjoyable, some particular tones annoy me, but a positive experience.
Very nice, just very good. Good. Nice. Good. Nice. 4/10
Not bad for a full jazz album, nice work.
I made notes for this that didn't save, sad. Its like a 3.5. Gonna go 4.
Better than anticipated, generally enjoyable. very 80s though
Yeah very good, respect (wink). Powerful voice and seemingly lyrics, gonna have to give this a 4, always tough to give a 5 if I haven't heard it before
Ah, a 5. Delicious. Blackstar is such hot fucking fire. Listening to next day than this is quite interesting. It almost makes next day seem not as good. He definitely got a creative explosion during his sickness, but its crazy because its accurate as well. Like I feel like david was creative for almost his whole career bar the mid to late 80s, but somehow death returned him to 70s form. Blackstar-Tis a pity she was a whore-Lazarus is an aggressively good start. Maybe bowies best open of any album (shit he actually has a lot of good starts. Just when I thought it was slowing down "I can't give everything"
I enter this hesitantly. Country + 80's... FEAR. Nice voices so far. Not overly punishingly 80's thus far. Somewhat boring but not really offensive. Heading for a 3 here.
It be tricky... to rock and... to rhyme. Nice 80's rap start. Hard times, they like intertwining their lyrics between them lol. Hard times kinda sucks tbh. Rock-box is wayyy better kinda sick electric guitar. Jam was decent. Hollis crew is suppper bouncy 80's rap. Sucker's MC beat kinda stinky, but rap kinda good more relaxed. Dream was really good delivered in a slightly punishing way. Kinda punishing my ears now (2nd to last track). Ok that sound got old, light 3.
Only has the bloody 2h collectors addition. Gonna listen to 4 songs, if it sucks it goes off, if its good it stays on. Welcum to the gaunlet. It didn't do enough, but also wasn't asss bad as some reviews suggested. Solid 2 from the first 4 tracks....
Nice chill vibes thus far. I do kinda like different languages some times, way more relaxing cause you don't care, its just sounds. Though it would be harder to get realllly into it I reckon. Didn't leave much of an impact, but decent 3
Don't love his singing style. Haven't heard anything too interesting in this album yet. It sounds so familiar for a band I've never heard with such a weird name. Some interesting instrumentation and lyrics. But I don't like listening to it.
Yeah nice album, a little bit underwhelmed. But the flows and production were really nice. Just not fully my style. solid 4.4 out of 10.
So far sppoooky. Accidentally did shuffle, ass. Where the wild rose grows is an easy listen, nice. Henry lee is a nice track, I feel as though this album is worth a re-listen as the sequencing may aid its flow. Stagger Lee is goood. Yeah, this ones in between a 3 and a 4. Probably a 3.6
Have not much clue of this man going in. Like the album cover, cautious optimism. oof. Superstition is a track. And holy stuck the landing, the last track is epic. Yeah I mean this is very close to a 5. But if I gave it a 5, it would probably be due to external factors. Probably more like a 4.3 for my taste.
Blair. like a rock in the middle of the ocean, albums I know and love are lifesavers and refreshing. Its mostly likely gonna be a 5.
Liking it so far. Every song has a flavour, but still cohesive. It does sound like Oasis and "brit pop" though which I didn't really know what it sounded like till now. Tinnny bit punishing. Wasn't blooown away but a solid 3.6, rounded to a low 4.
Never really got into live albums. But Sam seems like as good as anyone to break that trend. Ok that man has charisma in spades. Really liked it actually, but I think the nature of live albums means its gonna be a 3. But I can see circumstances where I might play this.
PS: This activity makes you crave short albums, but ironically if you really love an album you have no problem with a longer run time. 40 mins may be the perfect run time though.
Oh this is going to be strange. Hey there is passion. Who are you this time is a cool contrast of gristle and sweet melody. Its perhaps not a good sign, however, that I felt very relieved when I heard the next song after the album was done. Not quite a 1, probably like a 1.7 (2).
Note a hugeee fan of this type of 90's rock. Its just hits me as very American. Thats hard to listen to at work. I just cannot today. Almost called it quits and slapped with a 2. I need to be more resilient. Hated quiet, twas not quiet. Fuck its that heavy electric guitar I hate. Don't enjoy the vocals either. Man this really sums up my distaste for this kinda genre. Ok it got a bit better towards the end, or I got used to it. Dont think I could ever listen to this album just like that, but could enjoy tracks. like a 2.6 out of 10.
ooo the first track is a bit rad. ahhh nice. Some famous tracks that I recognize far more than I expected. Okay there is actually some cool stuff here and some decent diversity. It's not exactly my style but doesn't overcrowd too much. its a solid 3.6/5
Well expectations have to be high, even though not yet in my style wheel house so far. I mean it has stairway to heaven. Wasn't super vibing it most of the way through, struggle to get on board with the sound. Just doesn't sound good to my ear yet. I can recognize the quality without particularly enjoying it. Going to Cali brought me back a bit. If "When the levee breaks doesn't do something good here, we are heading for a 3 (3.4)". Hmm almost, just not sure if it justifies a 4 from initial listen which is what all other albums have received. Okay that song lifted it to a low four (3.5)
The first track always sounds corny to me, but I understand its anti-patriotism. So I guess it might intentionally sound like this. Listening to the lyrics I do enjoy the song more. Track #2 cover me sounds better than track #1 to me, though a bit repetitive. That drum beat is frustrating, its very apparent in track #3. I find track #3 a bit obnoxious in general. Do not enjoy the shalalala which occur followed by sax. Downtown train is a nice change up in the tracklist, a bit more relaxed and beautiful. Track #6 starts out in a similar tone to track #5 good track. Track #7 doesn't seem that interesting on face value. Bobby Jean (#8) is a really good track. I'm going down was a powerful tune. Glory days is back to a bit too corny for my liking. Dancing in the dark is a punishing track, very 80s. My hometown is a solid finish. Its like a 3.4 for me.
Not on spotify, automatic 1
First listen without the blessed WH-1000-XM3's, used Alices JBL's. Had potential but did not suit my mood. Low 3.
Ok back from a sabbatical. Listening through the computer. Wow the first song has 10x the listens of any other. Could be a bad sign that I found it only decent. I'm not minding this tbh. Dirt is a nice track, moody low singing kinda hits. Fun house a bit too messy for my taste, painful listen. LA blues also painful, low 3.
Not offensive, probably would score it worse if this wasn't a during work listen. Which resulted in it being quite nice. Solid 6.5/10.
Relatively interesting engaging jazz. Still held back by general listenability as per normal jazz for me. Solid 5.9/10.
Yeah not a bad listen in general, punky. But somewhat wounding at points, found the cars and girls track brought it down, even though its probably ironic... Any way its like a 4.9
Looking forward to this. Sadly, I am now somewhat looking forward to the end. When I first properly listened to demon days I loved it. Not sure if this is because I knew 2-3, so the others were interesting change ups. But for whatever reason, this didn't hit as hard, still a different sound, but just didn't sound as good. A solid 6 as its still a very unique diverse album, just not high enjoyment
After about a weeks hiatus, I'm back bitches. I quite enjoy this first tune, really like it actually. The vocal effect is layered and new to me... Interested whether it continues on all tracks. Ok somewhat similar, but enough difference so far (I will say the easier listening albums tend do slightly better because of the first listen nature and most at work...). Enjoyed, decent 4. Lots of good melody and meaningful sounding lyrics, but a bit lacking in variation.
My god, heavy metal just sits so poorly with me. The instruments are so overdone and crowded. I hate to say it but I'd rather listen to wood chipping then that type of electric guitar. After the 2nd track I kinda slowly skipped through songs until nothing else matters, which has a bit more build up, but yeah. Surprise the non heavy metal fan likes the non heavy song. Yeah I mean its a 1 from me, I can't listen to it.
Loved a few tracks, soul and fire was cool. Was this annoying pattern on some songs of like nice soft stuff then weirdly hard but it just keeps oscillating. It wore on me after a long day in the office. That said, I feel as though I COULD like this album in the future. Pretty solid 3, feels like it could have been a 4 on another day.
Yeah I'm not bothering.
Jackson Pollock Ideas:
Frankly mr shankly is going down better than usual. This is a good sign. I know its over is a lovely tune. Hmm Never Had No One Ever is kinda great. There is something slightly annoying about this voice and some keys played. Every time I think this album is about to shock me into a 5, it kinda drifts. Heading for a strong 4, like 4.4. Nice closer.
Favourite Songs:

Overall:
Three songs I really like. Others that I find pretty decent, could grow on me but don't wow me or anything. The queen is actually dead now, how about dat. I think this is a light 5, 4.6. I say this because I was about to give it a high 4, but how is a brand new album gonna be that much better. Albums need time. Really cool lyrical content, good interesting melodies. Slightly bland through the middle.
Jackson Pollock Ideas:
So it begins. Nose ring already mentioned. Some weird vocals in slow burn. Lonely weekend was alright, not harsh on the ears but nothing special. I like the start of butterflies. Oh what a world is decent enough. Happy and sad is good so far. But generally this definitely feels like a very overrated album, like its good that's it, good.
Favourite Songs:
Happy and Sad
High Horse
Golden Hour
Rainbow
Least Favourite Songs:
Slow Burn
Overall Opinion:
The album is good, it is not great. It is difficult to point to a song I don't like, it is also difficult to point to a song I love ('golden hour' is the closest). Strong finish, weak start. I find her voice a little too piercing though generally the vocals were good with the exception of 'slow burn'. Instrumentation actually reminded me a lot of 'solar power' worth noting this was released first. Intimate instrumentation which feels right in your ear, clean and crisp. This is a little bland it must be said, however, lacking some punch and flavour at times. This doesn't sound like country, which is a good thing for me, very poppy, verrryyy poppy. Some interesting lyrics most are earnest, though some made me cringe. Kacey Musgraves will not earn a new listener but she does not have a hater out of me. Solid 6.9/10 from first listen which rounds to a 3/5.
Jackson Pollock Ideas:
Wow the first track lol. Blitzkrieg pop extremely recognisable. Ok his voice is kinda frustrating. Not loving it but not hating it right now. Feels like a 3. Ok it got super repetitive and annoying really quick. Couldn't finish it. Its a 2.
Favourite songs:

Least Favourite songs:

Overall:
The first track sounds pretty innovative and cool. From there on in my enthusiasm was slowly worn down by the repetitive nature of the tracks and the grinding vocals from the lead singer. Additionally the guitars seemed to have little variation with the rhythm remaining constant. I imagine if you like this its fine, it doesn't sound like "bad music", but it certainly ain't my music. Low 2/5
Jackson Pollock Ideas:
Now Black Sabbath I can get into. This is so much better than other bullshit heavy stuff. Planet Caravan has me feeling some type of way. I'm loving the variation, it doesn't feel like I'm getting punched in the face over and over again. I'm ready for Iron Man to be punchy now. Boomfa left hook. Ok it was good for a metal, but definitely not enough for a 5.
Also need to listen again for fav and least fav tracks, good sign that I didn't hate any tracks.

Thought it was pretty good maybe like a 7.5 on first listen, really good for a metal as I'm no fan. Had more respite from the heavy instruments then some current stuff I have heard. Still can't say I loved the heavy moments. Had some very cool instrumental moments, and the lyrical content sounded passionate. I feel like this rating could vary a lot with further listens. But its a low 4/5. (~7.5)
Jackson Pollock:
1h 7mins, on god ceebs. Who be wailing on the sax. Actually kinda reminding me of Paul McCartney in the early 70s rn. Nothing has amazed me or moved me really, not too much my style. Can't point to any fav songs, but can't point to any I hate and I can sense the quality. Heading for a 3, which may be harsh.. "I just want to see his face" didn't need to be on this album. Shine a light is pretty good.
Fav Songs:

Overall:
It sounds solid, its not my style. The instrumentation sounds cute to me, rarely doesn't it sound intense or powerful. Hard to get a feel for lyrics as always for me. Sonically not that impressed. Songs are like a new love interest, the sound is like the physical characteristics. Both are important and you can't really be into the song/love interest without it, however, the lyrical content (or personality) are what turns something from good to great and can be what you sink your teeth into and keep you coming back. Metaphor baby. But anyway, solid 6.9/10
Jackson Pollock:
Angus Dei is a cool opener, not expected almost a little ambient, does remind me of Thom Yorke a little. The one you love is a nice funky change to the first tune. Little sister is another very different song. Varied start to the record, thought this third track doesn't quite have the same intensity as the first two. Had a difficult excel problem and got distracted, I think I was enjoying the noises. This love affair is where I picked up. Getting a little whiney at this point. Crumb by Crumb is cool. Old whores diet really went for a left turn, okay that song went for about 5mins too long.

Strong varied start, the second half of the record dragged, and it didn't need to be 50 odd minutes, Old Whores diet was particularly unnecessary. Brought it from a 4 to a 3.

Verging on too rocky for me, it remains apparent that there are songs of strong innovation and creativity. Also some that sound very good. However, definitely feels bloated with a lot of songs that don't sound thaat interesting. Baby O'Riley and Behind Blue Eyes are big highlights. Won't get fooled again also appealed on first listen. A solid 4/5. It feels as though I could end up liking 4-5 tracks on this thing but the whole album wont be on rotation like others.

Excited about this. Devils haircut is Ok. Honestly not loving it right now. A bit too almost punky, 90s rocky. Discobox surprised me that's for sure. Oh thankgod, sub 40 mins. Also note I am now on the Panasonic headphones. A noticeable step down from the wh-1000 xm3's. Very tinny treble, lacking base. Average noise cancellation. The robots is kinda annoying. Skipped a certain way in, very wounding. Space lab is better, nothing special. Metropolis better again, liking the model. Neon lights is alright. Title Track! Opening title track "Black Sabbath" pretty swell. Nice job dudes. Note in sony in-ears. He isn't my favourite vocalist, though I not my least fav. I am reasonably thoroughly enjoying this. Pretty strong entry, varied (unlike some metal I have had to sit through). It seems a symptom of being on the forefront, they couldn't go "too far". Its really dark and creepy feeling, but its not just slamming instruments. I feel as though every song has a purpose. Its a decent 4, which is about as high as metal can go for me. While not jarringly different like expected from the cover and artist name, the album was relatively enjoyable/interesting. Some good highlights in the first track, "Another Pearl", "Once around the block" with only one real low light in the punishment to the ears that is "This song". I would strongly doubt that this would ever enter into my most loved albums or anything like that. But it is clearly still a good album, worth of a a decent four (7.8 feels right). Slightly bloated. I'm back baby after a long hiatus. Tiny dancer to start, ok holl up, let em cook. Ok Levon is really good as well so far. A bit overly dramatic in the chorus, what did I expect. Got a little annoying towards the end because of the over the top nature. Also a weird almost autotune vibe which is annoying. Not a fan of Razor face. Indian sunset is a bit more stripped back so far which is refreshing. Indian sunset good. Holiday inn varied.

Some really good tracks in this album. I would also say there is some great variation. Elton and Bernie still don't really resonate with me. Especially Elton who can be overly dramatic/glossy in his melodies/music which grates me over an album. Luckily this album had some change ups from this with Indian Sunset and Goodbye. Tiny Dancer is obviously a great song as well. I think this places the album between a 3 and a 4. To be honest its probably a low 7 which rounds up to a 4.
Jackson Pollock:
Four Women (i.e. used for OJ - Jay Z) is amazing. What more can I say? is amazing. Lilac Wine and That's all I ask also slap hard. Break down and let it all out sort slowed the momentum not bad, but didn't speak to me.

Worst track was dirt road blues.
Ok I'm not listening to 16:31s of Highlands after an already album.
Lots of potential pretty strong, solid 4. Not a high four because the 16min song at the end didn't jump to me.
Jackson Pollock:
Cool start, intimate sounds. Second track decent, third abrasive without being rewarding. I'm leaning towards a 3-4. I don't know if I would come back to this unless I proper got into Bjork. Listened to this before, but not much so this will be relatively fresh. Magic number is so bouncy and joyful. I don't like jennifer. De La Orgy was uncomfortable at work.
