Time (The Revelator)
Gillian WelchI found this extremely boring
I found this extremely boring
It was fine, wasn’t hard to listen to but I didn’t think it was anything special
Songs dragged, I the radio edits for a few songs and I liked them better than the full length ones
Would not have known they were saying Metropolis if it wasn’t literally the song title Typically I’d go for electronic music with more going on and also with more lyrcis but I liked the album
I thought AC/DC was heavier rock than this album I only knew back in black and you shook me all night long going into this, but a lot of the songs felt identical
Did not like this at all
King crimson Bit of a slog at times, I definitely liked sections of songs but then other sections were rough (see:The Talking Drum and that awful ending)
Am I only rating albums higher because I heard their songs on the radio growing up? We’ll never know
I like the music better than I like the singer tbh
Enjoyed this, Caledonia mission was my fave song
HATED the first 30 seconds of this album, enjoyed the rest of it though
Fun album, ould not tell you how many songs are on it though I Don’t Wanna Walk Around with You sounds like a song written about an annoying, younger sibling
A few memorable lyrics, decent album The line ‘I know you very well // You are unbearable’ is so funny to me Also ‘Everyone loves you // Until they know you’ ouch Socialist sounds like I’m a mad scientist working in a lab
Not something I'd typically put on for myself but I did enjoy it, Matty Groves was a wild story
I (do not) like the sound of funky music
I found all these songs super repetitive, wanted every song to be over by about 1/2 way through
realized I never gave my rating for this, I don't remembering adoring or hating it so it gets a 3
I almost really liked this album, it’s close to other music I’d listen to but it’s just /not quite/ fave song: life through a lens
Reviewing this a day later and I have no memory of listening to this except I know I did not like it
I don’t like the guy’s waaaaah-ing and whatever that instrument that sounds like a kazoo is
The Beach Boys and Beastie Boys were the same band in my head, so imagine my surprise when the album starts The music itself isn’t bad, not my first choice but there were parts I liked I liked how clever some of the lyrics were but themes of the songs and the lyrics were very much not my jam though, lots of misogyny and he drugs a girl in Brass Monkey??
First song made me want to go lay in the snow and be sad I feel like this would be the perfect album to play as background music to a Christmas dinner party. It sounds fine it’s just not super interesting. I skipped the second half of the ocean, because the first half was so frustrating and looking at the lyrics the second half was not better
Enjoyed this, the album flew by which I’m gonna say is a good thing
I started listening to us with headphones, but I could not deal with the instruments being separated. The way they were, the piano on my left ear was driving me nuts. I switched to playing it on my phone speakers and that was better Interesting the album is called third when I hated the 3rd song the most because of the vocals The other 3 songs were fine background music at times but then it would just get really disharmonious and jarring, only to go back to fine again
I liked the instrumental songs a lot Once again I enjoyed the cleverness of the lyrics but not the themes lol Also TIL deez nuts is this old of a joke Fave lyric “ There are things I've done that I wouldn't do again / But I'm glad that I did 'cause I learned from them”
I don’t have a comment on the album as a cohesive unit because I listened to this over two days split up into several listening sessions There were songs I quite liked, especially in the first half of the album, but also songs I skipped about halfway through
Surprise rockband song in here, album was a good listen
the music is fine its just not my jam You Can't Do That was weird. oddly controlling
i enjoyed this
The music was very fun, I did not like her voice
good busywork music, I definitely think I will put this on as a background album in the future
nothing I particularly enjoyed but also nothing I hated
Okay album, I was surprised how many songs I recognized
three stars only because I liked the songs without vocals
meh
I had really high hopes for this because I love their album AM I like this well enough, but it was not what I was expecting having heard the other album first. ^i wrote that a few weeks ago and forgot to submit it lol. This is the only 1001 album so far that I’ve gone back and listened to multiple times so I think that means it gets 5 stars
I really enjoyed this
I’ve never listen to an Elvis album before but I liked it a lot more than I thought I would
some songs were fine but others i did not vibe with
The album was fine There were like five times I looked up during Jungleland and expected the song to be over and it still wasn’t
first half of the album was meh and to quote my notes directly after finishing the second half: "What the hell was this album, it's depressing AF and the songs are not even good."
the transitions in the first half of the album were really smooth, I barely noticed when the next song started. The waters was way too long, I wish it ended after four minutes all in all it was decent
I liked this well enough, might have to give their other albums a shot
This was a very fun album Hearing him talk to the crowd in between songs was cool. “Excuse me, I couldn’t hear you I was talking” it’s a really great response to a heckler. I usually don't love live albums but this one was good, maybe because the crowd wasn't screaming excessively. I've never listened to Johnny Cash before but a lot of the songs were fun and had a good story/plot to them, like Starkville City Jail. I walk the line just made me want to go listen to the Halsey cover instead, so I queued that up right away and then returned to the rest of album San Quentin was neat to hear the crowd's first reaction. I didn't realize at the time it was about the prison I thought everyone just really hated the town they lived in I was going to give this 4 stars but I wore a bunch of good stuff so maybe it deserves 5??
My mom loves the Killers so this album was on a lot in our house when I was growing up I remember being like eight and thinking the line “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier” was the deepest shit I think the second half of the album is weaker but all in all it’s still 5 stars
I enjoyed this but it was just background music and not particularly interesting. I listened to this while shopping, but didn't even notice it was over until like 20 mins after it ended
I didn't like this as much as I thought I would It was 100x easier to listen to when I played it in my car compared to playing it over my airpods The high whistling noises in close to you, and the popping noises in Two Hearts were a lot, even when I played them out loud. The crackling and popping were far too asmr for my liking Frontier Psychiatrist was the only song I kindof knew and the whole time it played I just thought it would make a great tiktok sound "that boy needs therapy"
Very fun album, was not expecting Recover to be on this because I only knew it from their EP
No parts that I super disliked but yeah, it was just fine. I kind of wish that the vocals were louder or like pulled forward from the music. I found it hard to tell what they were were saying because it blended too well with the music
The music was decent, I would not have fully understood the story if I didn’t read the Wikipedia synopsis as I went along I had to stop and go finish a task but the last song I listened to before the pause was Fiddle About. A terrible song to have stuck in my head for a half hour
Not my jam but it wasn’t bad
Dogfight Giggle made me want to die The rest of the album wasn't as bad but it wasn't great I Don't Know What to Feel is the only song I remember kindof liking
not my jam
I preferred the music over than the guy’s voice but it wasn’t bad More politics than I expected but honestly I should have known with a band name like rage against the machine
This was fine, not very memorable reviewing this after the fact
I was really vibing with the instrumental part of Planet Claire and was kind of sad when the guy started singing The rest of it was meh I read the title Rock Lobster in the same tune as Ghostbusters and now I want a mashup of those two songs. I was trying to figure out why it sounded so familiar and turns out it was sampled in a Panic! song This gets 3 stars only because of how much I liked that intro
It was good, listened to the album while driving and during Butcher's Tale I kept thinking there were police sirens behind me Friends of mine was really sweet song. As the last unmarried/single person in my extended group of friends, it was refreshing take from the woe is me type songs re: everyone around you being in love
Fine but not the kind of music I tend to like Also there’s too many explicit sexual references for my taste
This was fine, knew more songs than I expected I thought Bootylicious was the Macarena at fist Nasty girl is very pick me / not like the other girl, but also thought it’s 100% me to me when I’m wearing anything lower than a crew neck The gospel melody and the outro was a strange change of pace from the rest of the album
no complains no praises, love a short album that doesn't overstay
Listened to the album while getting ready for work, had to pause it until I got into my car so I could sing along to Proud Mary without waking my family
I have no defense but I actually kinda liked this
this was good maybe a bit too much angst for my taste though
i liked most of the album but whatever song had the weird shit chants was just bad
Was not a fan of this At times it sounded like someone was singing but you reversed the audio
I like the songs well enough, but I feel like the last several of them just sound like The One I Love again and again
I found this extremely boring
nothing i adored but nothing I didn’t like either
did not like the raspy screaming in my left ear in the first song, other than that it was decent
I feel like the mixing on this album was weird but I still liked it, I listened to the mono version of Ain’t no way and it was better than the stereo one
This album was weird but I did like it However I do wish some of the songs were just a little shorter
Instrumental albums have to be very very bad before I have nothing to say about them Did not like the surprise vocals in the last song, was a good album otherwise
decent enough, short albums are always a plus too
Had a good time listening to this
I would’ve given this three stars, but whatever song started with those excuse me’s made me drop a star. Hated that, you’re excused.
Yeah this was okay
This is not an album to listen to in your car. The first song made me think something was clunking around in the back of my car, and then that other song had a siren in it. Not the kind of music I usually listen to but it was totally fine
I’ve never listened to this album all the way through, knew a lot of the songs and liked them all
I really liked this, although I don't think I would listen to it all in one go again
The nice thing about this was if I didn’t like a song it was over quickly But also if I did like the song it was over quickly as well
I think I would have liked it less if I paid more attention to this
Yeah this was chill
Idk why this ended with a mukbang
Listened to this while driving but did not want to roll my windows down while blaring Kanye The skits were kinda funny I was annoyed at The New Workout Plan but I think that was the point
