Popular Reviews

The White Room by The KLF

These guys had a great single in 1991 called 3 A.M. Eternal. I loved that song, and it was originally on the White Room album, but it was removed for the "Director's Cut" version. I'm not really digging any of the rest of the album, but they get 1.5 stars for 3 A.M. Eternal alone.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Feb 13 2024

This was the first studio album after the 68 special. Elvis was still a little unsure of himself. Still a great album.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Feb 20 2024

1 song is really good. The rest are okay. Good beats, but sometimes the lyrical vocalizing is irritating.

Disintegration by The Cure
Mar 02 2024

Ultimately not as bad as I remembered it was. But still not really my kind of music.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Mar 03 2024

He’s a great songwriter but I’m distracted by his weird vocalizing when he sings.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Mar 09 2024

Jimi being Jimi. He’s really experimenting with his sound here. Lots of echoes and overdubs.

Rocks by Aerosmith
Mar 11 2024

Probably more of a 3.5. Down and dirty album by Aerosmith. Really enjoyed it. Back in the Saddle is one of my favs.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Mar 12 2024

Excellent album by the Stones. One of my favorites. Gimme Shelter, Midnight Rambler, Let it Bleed. Top notch blues-y rock.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Mar 14 2024

I actually like Slipknot, but I have to be in the mood for them, some of their stuff is a bit too much. This album is pretty good though. I liked it.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Mar 15 2024

Sorry, Smashing Pumpkins is not for me. This one is better than Mellon Collie, but only just.

Mar 21 2024

I like Rod. Maggie May is the best song on here, but at this point it's a little overplayed.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Mar 23 2024

This is a pretty good Beatles album. Very transitional, they are playing around with what being "The Beatles" means and what types of songs they write. I like the experiment for the most part.

Back In Black by AC/DC
Mar 25 2024

Great AC/DC album beginning to end. Back in Black, Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, Have a Drink on Me. Just a classic and a really solid hard rock album.

System Of A Down by System Of A Down
Mar 29 2024

I do like these guys, but I've mainly listened to some of their later stuff, like the Toxicity album. It's a pretty good album, if not spectacular.

Mar 30 2024

I believe this was Aretha's first album with Atlantic after she moved from Columbia Records. Her cover of Otis Redding's Respect has become the new standard for that song. Even Redding admitted she had taken the song from him. There's nothing on this album as good as Respect, but this is still a solid R&B/Soul album by the Queen. I almost gave the album a 5 based on Respect alone.

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Mar 31 2024

If the color beige was a band, it'd be The Byrds. Four of their best songs are Dylan covers; and to be fair I like their versions better. That being said, their songs are like wallpaper, you kind of forget about them.

On The Beach by Neil Young
Apr 01 2024

I would say Neil Young can die in a fire, but he's probably going to outlive us all.

Apr 03 2024

The Kinks have some great songs; You Really Got Me, Lola, Destroyer. However NONE of them are on this bland AF album. Hippy dippy bologna.

The Healer by John Lee Hooker
Apr 05 2024

Strange to go with a 1989 Hooker album when his best stuff is in the 60s and 70s. However, that being said, this is a pretty good album. Lots of guest stars like Santana, Bonnie Raitt, George Thorogood, and Canned Heat. Still really enjoyed it. Really more of a 3.5 album.

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Apr 09 2024

The Weight is a rock classic. The album almost deserves a 5 based on that track alone. However the complete lack of any other memorable song on the album is a problem. I've already forgotten the other songs.

Apr 10 2024

What a great album. Black Steel in an Hour of Chaos is probably my favorite. But also Louder than a Bomb, Prophets of Rage, and Rebel without a Pause are bangers. 4.5 stars.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Apr 18 2024

Pretty great album. 3.5 stars. The Stones sound pretty lean and angry here after the excesses of their previous album. Sympathy for the Devil is the standout, but Street Fighting Man holds its own. They also do a great Blues cover of Prodigal Son.

Sister by Sonic Youth
Apr 21 2024

For the most part this isn't for me. However, there are one or two I was surprised I liked.

Fishscale by Ghostface Killah
Apr 22 2024

It's not bad. I guess I don't love the whole "Wu Tang" thing. But there are a few bangers on this album.

Apr 23 2024

You can tell Johnny Cash really put his all into this album. Hurt is the standout, but The Man Comes Around is pretty good. The rest is sadly hit or miss for me, but the heart and soul Johnny puts into the entire album makes it a win.

Apr 26 2024

This is kind of a melancholy album for George. After the immense pop popularity of Faith, I guess he decided to do something vastly different. Freedom '90 and Soul Free are the closest you get to pop radio on this album. And that's not necessarily a critique.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Apr 27 2024

So, it's Zepplin III, one of their more folkiest, acoustic albums which was conceived at a remote Scottish cottage. There are several bangers in the first half of the album; Immigrant Song, Celebration Day, and Gallows Pole, but the rest is kind of boring.

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Apr 28 2024

Classic Hendrix. A left handed musical genius. This can get a bit trippy, honestly, but Jimi makes it work. Several classics on this album.

London Calling by The Clash
Apr 30 2024

This is fun and surprisingly bouncy for what I thought was going to be a straight up punk album. There are a lot of pop sensibilities in this album, several of the songs sound like they'd be in movies from the 80s, and this was released in 1979! If I listen to this more and became more familiar with it, I can see it getting bumped up to a 3 star album. Right now it's more of a 2.5 star album for me. One I like, but one I'm just not really familiar with.

Classic. The name of the album is perfect. These ladies are queens.
