So by Peter Gabriel

I miss some kind of humor. It’s all so serious and I don’t feel any fun. I like Peter’s Voice. Mainly in the contrast to Kate Bush. A great duet. Nice deconstructed sound. Far from everyday Pop Music. I don’t like the slap-guitar. He’s no poet. “Big Time” is the worst song. I doesn’t catch me at all. Over-ambitious, swinging with meaning where there is none. Boring.

With The Beatles by Beatles
Dec 25 2023

What great melodies. The first three songs kicked me out my boots. It was their second Album, but their songwriting was already great. Back then, nobody knew what was to follow. McCartney is pop music in the purest form, whilst Lennon is s kind of predecessor of Indie/Alternative melodies. It gets a kind of mediocre in the middle. But "Mr. Postman" actually a cover, saves it and lets me dance.

Different Class by Pulp
Dec 27 2023

I think their next record was the actual masterpiece. But it’s all already here in this classical of the 90s. Love it. It’s my youth. It’s about revenge. The “have” against the “have nots”. Ray Davies loves it I guess. It sound like Bowie and the Kinks would have made an album without starships and middle-class depression. “Sorted for E’s & Wizz” is my favorite. The rhythm of the words, the exact pronunciation it so on point.

Garbage by Garbage
Dec 31 2023

Did not age well. The compressed drum sound, some questionable breaks, Trip Hop Beats…it’s a 90ies record, wich worked perfectly in the 90ies. But it is not timeless.

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jan 01 2024

What a nice warm and relaxed atmosphere.

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Jan 02 2024

I know what people like about it. Does not work for me.

Moving Pictures by Rush
Jan 03 2024

I like the drum sound…rhythmically…especially the base drum. Red Barchetta is about a profane car. What effort the music seems to have, it’s just about a car. Makes it lifeless and cold. I like the music…but I would like it without the lyrics a bit more.

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Jan 04 2024

Don’t know why, but I get some Coldplay Vibes.

Jan 05 2024

What’s this over ambitious, megalomaniac, artificial nonsense all about? It’s a Blockbuster Movie turned into music. Pink Floyd on steroids. Rock Whores. Stadium crap without a soul. I guess you have to have the same desperate mood to like it. I don’t dare to read the lyrics…I guess it’s the old „I wanna hold your hand“ kind of poems. I don’t like it very much. My fault. Although I hear the stadium choruses and the perfect production.

Jan 15 2024

Great songs. Great voice. But it are mainly songs for the single charts. As an album it misses a structure.

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Jan 16 2024

I don’t know if it is a good album…it doesn’t matter anyway. I feel 20 years younger whilst listening to it. It’s creative, it’s courageous, it’s silly, it’s clever.

Closer by Joy Division

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Jan 27 2024

This album was the soundtrack to my first broken heart. This tells more about my age, than the quality of the record. But I like it. Couldn’t listen to it a while, but I’m enjoying it right know. It’s a kind of angry and depressed Black Sabath sound. I prefer the Pumpkins.
