Jeff BuckleyA landmark album! Absolutely destroyed me when I first heard it as a teenager. I heve not revisited in some time and I’m suddenly hit with many familiar emotions.

I have been an Outkast fan as long as I can remember. Somehow I’ve never listened to this entire album. While I’d probably put it towards my Least favorite kast album I still enjoyed it much more than my preconceived notion about it would have led me to believe. I prefer disc 1 as it was a little more Whst I want from an outlast album the second half challenged me to listen to Andre 3000 vision of sex in the future and I’m all the better for it as I listen from the comfort of 20 years in the future since it’s release. Overall a solid album that while I may not revisit as much as previous albums definitely worked a handful of new tracks into my outlast rotation and that is worth it
Every thing about this album is perfect. The lyrics cover such a wide range of topics of the time (most still relevant today), Wonders vocals deliver every line with passion, tenderness or rage as needed. Musically speaking i believe this album to deliver peak performances couple that with the incredible tones captured in the mix it hits so perfectly. I will admit i have a long history with this album but it truly blew my mind the first time i heard it as much as it did on this most recent listen through.
Sonically very interesting album, I really love the overall vibe put forth from this. I think it conveys so much mood with tone
A truly magical album. The harmonies, the poetic lyrics everything I love about this album and this group. Some songs are little pretentious in my option and some f the more humorous or novelty esque songs don’t land for me but hey you can’t be thst uptight all the time. Overall loved this album!
A fantastic album. Such a unique blend of music and vocal Melodie’s. I really love how much space each instrument is given in the different sections of the song, though cohesive at all times even when intended to be jarring. It’s joyous, ominous and wide open at any given moment.
Intergalactic funk. Nuff sed.
Truly brilliant album. I love the rawness of the guitars, the depth of the lyrics I think this is an album everyone should hear.
At first I did not think this album was going to be something I enjoyed but as I went along for the majestic ride I found the orchestral pop to be endearing. I especially enjoyed the closing track with its dissonant chords and near transcendent heights it reaches at its crescendo.
A fun burst of energetic, guitar driven new wave era punk with a healthy dose of pop sensibility. I rather enjoyed the more frenetic songs and some tastefully executed guitar interplay.
While I loved the first half of this man career, including this album, at this point I refuse to give such a hateful human any more streams or support then I can help. That said I won’t review bomb this album I will rate appropriately as I move upon a time could enjoy this thoroughly.
A pillar of an album that holds the weight of the world. Incredible songs from a mind in the infancy of its brilliance. Still a very young man with a sharp vision of the future and a sharper tongue. These songs can break your heart, awaken the revolutionary or just make you laugh at times. Anytime you can genuinely experience multiple emotions in such a short amount of time is worth taking note of and cling to that album with both hands and all your heart.
I really enjoyed the lofi nature of this album. it had the spirit of a band that was starting to find its way to something great. I love the roughness of it, its jittery but sweet, ragged yet lovely. I will be exploring more of their catalog for sure
I am not well versed in the genre of Thrash Metal but I do know that Slayer is a landmark band and this a landmark album. I went in thinking maybe a couple of songs would stand out but I was pleasantly surprised when I finished the album I was ready to start it again.
A wild album. Hard hitting lyrics, Cubes iconic flow, classic 90s production its everything you want it to be. There are some lyrics that do not stand the test of time and some that are just flat out awful but the moments that reach for something more than calling for violence against women transcend and make you feel the anger that he is expressing.
This was an unexpected hit for me. I only vaguely knew of this man prior but this album is POWERFUL!
I did not get as into this album as I had hope. It definitely has groove and it certainly was not bad by any means. I just found it too disco for my personal taste
Wow. That’s all I can say.
This album did not resonate with me wholly. While I did enjoy several tracks and could hear its influence on several modern albums I love I just didn’t enjoy it as much. But that’s ok I’m still glad to have heard it and honestly maybe another day upon revisit it will hit different!
Psychedelic masterpiece!
A few tracks were standouts here, the production and instrumentals were most enjoyable. The change in vocal range to falsetto catches me off hairs but in a good way.
A really mysterious record. Had never heard anything of it but it was a really unique experience. Fantastic musicianship and really interesting arrangements. Will definitely work into my rotation
One of my all time favorites. Every song is damn near perfect painting, the musicianship is of another world where acoustic and electric absorb each other into one perfect sonic landscape. Even the album cover speaks volumes and tells a story.
Really good folk/country album from a legend. Her voice is a a treasure and the lyrics beyond great, some songs werent as memorable as others for me but but the ones that stuck out were phenomenal.
Chill, ambient, beat driven album with world vibe. It is not something i would normally seek out but it certainly was a great album for a long morning drive.
Instant Classic. I was washed over with memories as soon as it started. The angular guitars defined indie releases for the early 2000s the near disco beats make rock music danceable, and the iconic voice all have held up well to the test of time. It will be back in the rotation for some time
I only know Moz from what I’ve read and The Smiths, I’ve always dismissed him as an asshole but it turns out he is a talented asshole. this album really stunned me with its arrangements and heartfelt lyrics. His vocal delivery was quite breathtaking as well. This is why I do this list always discovering new things!
A masterpiece by every measure.
Never had any interest in this album but once again after giving it a try it I was surprised by how much i enjoyed it. A really fun Pop album that has some really solid songs. Church of the Poison Mind really stood out for me here.
What a beautiful album. the rhythms and melodies are of another time and place and you are instantly taken there. Theres beauty, sadness and humor. Songs of love and fleas. I truly loved this album and cant wait too explore more of her catalog.
Only knew bittersweet Symphony but the rest of this album was quite good and quite a bit not that...which is good. Loved his raspy vocals and almost psychedelic guitar moments. Overall a great listen from a band I previously knew nothing about
Gorgeous harmonies, classic country storytelling, songs for the sinner. Loved this one.
This album is massive and intimate simultaneously. Its raw and gorgeous. Ethereal at times and in your face the next song. I love the doubled vocals, the fuzzed out bass lines and lets not forget the horns. the tracks that build into epics take you on heroic journeys that eventually launch you into the stratosphere. A landmark album of the early 2000s that has stood the test of time and continues to inspire artists today.
I have avoided the Police all my life. But this album may have opened my eyes to them a bit. Im not a huge fans of Stings vocals but they work here. The rhythm section is the real appeal to me but I will also admit I cannot resist Message in a Bottle, its a jam for sure.
the beats, the grooves, the lyrics everything is just a perfection here. At times its feels like you're dancing at the apocalypse, others in the throws of love or defeat. I especially love the tones captured. The vocals can be jarring but I think it adds the emotive expression of the song. Couldnt be happier to add this to the rotation
A psychedelic journey through the mind of a master of sound. So much to love here, experimentation, broadening of sounds used in recording, face melting guitar solos, loose improvs, gorgeous lyrics to get lost in the scenery. I love this album!
Such a fantastic album. So many standout tracks, morning bell a new favorite. The right drum machine patterns, wandering guitar interplay, thrumming bass lines to maintain some order. Of course incredible lyrics and iconic vocals over all of this create gorgeous chaos
A thoroughly enjoyable album. Not strictly an electronic album with heavy samples and fantastic tracks built around said samples. South side is forever a banger but the nuanced tracks in between hits really help this album flow.
This album is a milestone! its Comical, Dark, Violent a person struggling with an insane amount attention and constant scrutiny but takes the time to examine his place in the spotlight and turn the tables on his accusers to say whats your role in the misdeeds of the world? Some things have aged poorly like the track "Kim" it was difficult to listen to such graphic telling of violence but that said his artistry is insane and its a compelling story if not down right terrifying. The hits are blockbusters and the rest are amazing I dont think theres a skip on this album.
Electronic music is not my favorite genre but this album rips! I’m in awe of the production, just some insanely dirty synths grinding out jams, beats that make go hard and make you dance driven by baselines so funky a prince himself would smirk.
