1001 Albums Summary

One of my favorite albums from that time and still today. Great lyrics, great pace and Elvis At his best!!

Definitely interesting, not what I expected from the Beach Boys. An attempt at more socially conscious subject matter, I think - Student Demonstration Time is too weird. I really like Feel Flows, feel like I've heard this before. Harmonies on Til I Die and Surf's Up are great, classic beach boys

This is fun! Loving the guitars in the first song so far...probably not something i'd come back to but really good overall, reminds me of jam bands

Of course I'm pretty familiar this one, but it really is great. I was surprised at how much I liked "The Great Gig in the Sky" and "Eclipse" - love the backing vocals!

Love some of these songs, not a fan of all the pan flute or whatever that is but the African drum sounds are great. "Mother and Child Reunion" is an all-time favorite.

I had listened to this a few years ago and forgot how much I liked a lot of these songs (beyond just Blister in the Sun). A unique sound and a lot of fun, for the most part. A few I didn't love, but pretty impressive capturing of what it's like to be a high school guy written by musicians who were less than 18!

Obviously love "Piece of My Heart." Some of it is a little too hippie 60s for me. The bluesy stuff is great

"Ascension" was already a favorite. R&B classic, not something I'd listen to very often but quality.

Not really my cup of tea, but she is good and I liked more as it went on. Chrissie Hynde/Patti Smith/Fiona Apple vibes in parts.

Definitely dated and repetitive but I like early hip-hop and am impressed by a 19-year-old Black woman breaking into the male-dominated rap game in 1989.

I like this a lot! Don't love the vocals but some really good songs.

I've always liked the popular Rage songs, but not necessarily something I want to listen to front-to-back. Screaming "Bullet in your Head" for mintues on end isn't exactly calming. Still, good stuff.

Laughing at this opening song about the mundanity of grown-up life - adulting, as we say now. "Tainted Love" is great of course. "Seedy Films" is BAD. I can't help but think of Ross on "Friends" when he busts out his keyboard and plays his songs from college. SEX DWARF OMG

Classic. Not 100% polished yet, but still The Beatles! I always loved their version of "You Really Got a Hold on Me." And of course "All My Loving" is a must.

Like the "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" lyrics appearing in "O My God." - nice surprise for me. "Mother" is way too weird. Pretty great overall, especially toward the end, from "Every Breath You Take" on!

Mid, not great not terrible. Impressed that he played all the instruments and I do like his voice.

Not the world's biggest Dylan fan, but if I had to pick one it's this. Have loved "Don't think twice it's alright" for a long time. Very yearning, wistful music, to me.
