Rattlesnakes
Lloyd Cole And The CommotionsEnjoyed this one a lot, another album where I had never heard a single song before. It moves enough that it doesn’t feel dated or tired
Enjoyed this one a lot, another album where I had never heard a single song before. It moves enough that it doesn’t feel dated or tired
There’s just no beating the voice and the accent. Great stuff, amazing how pop-sounding a lot of the riffs really are
Excellent album, love the rock opera vibes, surprised by all the different instruments and influences used here, what a fantastic listen
It’s an interesting sound, and I’m sure it’s very influential, but this isn’t exactly and album I’d put on while making dinner or working.
First album I’ve gotten that has been one I already know well and love!!! I had a perfect time listening to it again!
Never realized what a great voice she has. Tons of hits just from this album. Absolutely loved it.
I mean what can you say. Like all thirteen year olds, I had an offspring phase, a time when continuous yelling was one of life's main joys. Nostalgia kept me listening, but this is one of those albums whose deep tracks really make you appreciate the hits that much more. The main saving grace is how much Holland must have loved Nevermind, so just go listen to that instead. Christ just made it to what happened to you. Thought my review was over but God what in the world happened to this song. The silence is smash is welcome.
I had never heard this album, or any songs from it. It rules, love the flute parts.
I mean it’s the Beatles. Lots of fun, I enjoyed the deeper tracks more than I thought
Really fun, loved el secundo and rhythm. But fan of the sampling and production.
First time listening to this album, I had only heard Alright before. On first listen it’s pretty good, but nothing that had me on the edge of my seat.
I was pleasantly surprised by this album, while it still feels like generic britpop. A fun listen though!
Cool sound, reminded me of going to the symphony and having your thoughts trail around elsewhere and then being brought back to the music as it dramatically changes
It’s an interesting sound, and I’m sure it’s very influential, but this isn’t exactly and album I’d put on while making dinner or working.
She’s got pipes, but I don’t think the rest of the music and production makes this nothing special. It’s also way too long, shouldn’t have been a double album, I just found myself bored
Another album where I’ve heard all the singles but I think it’s been a long time since I listened to it straight through. I really enjoyed it, there was a level of cheesiness that I think comes from how old it is. Cool sound, but some of the songs start to blend together a bit
Obviously it rules
Absolutely rips, great stuff
Who cares if it’s all drum machines and synthesizers, it moves and grooves
Obviously I was expecting weird shit, and I got it, but I also got some tracks that were bops. She’s great at what she does, long live freaky women.
Can’t believe I’ve never heard anything from this album. Beautiful emotional moving. Loved it
Don’t know anything about grime, and I always think UK rappers sound goofy at first, but this was a great listen. I loved the beats and the lyrics started to get me hooked towards the end.
Damn, always been more of a greatest hits police fan, but this ruled, need to be listening to the rest of their albums all the way through.
Feels like I’m smoking a cigarette, walking through the city streets, staring down at oh my god that’s why they call it shoegaze.
Another album I had heard some songs from, but this was my first time hearing the whole thing. Cool beats throughout, a lot slower and more repetitive than I expected given the songs I was more familiar with. Great listen.
Great voice, since so many of these are covers or standards it already feels familiar. Lots of fun to listen to
Harmonica! Grooves a lot more than I expected it to. Would I put it on for a gathering? No. Would I listen to it at work again? Sure!
Hadn’t gotten around to listening to this one until today. Takeover is so good you understand why they let Kanye make college dropout.
Damn I didn’t realize the other songs of this album were good ones
Slaps, love the song about pagers. It’s 1991 forever
Ohhh my god I can’t do this. Started this project because I love all kinds of music and figured this would be a great way to discover new stuff and expand my knowledge. I didn’t realize I might have to listen to bad music
Super duper trooper
Fucking awesome, loved the journey the longer songs took me on
Weird fun boppy clever, never heard anything like it
It’s U2! This isn’t one I remember growing up with, but tbh my parents may have missed it since I was screaming and crying 24/7 when this came out. I know beautiful day, but nothing else from it really stands out to me. U2 is always a good listen though
My second Jesus and Mary Chain album! It rules, I may even like it more than darklands
It’s whatever
Excellent album, love the rock opera vibes, surprised by all the different instruments and influences used here, what a fantastic listen
Alright I was getting bored in the first half, but they won me back in the second
Excellent album, unfortunately Chris Jasper DIED the day I was given this album and I can’t help but feel like it’s my fault
Found it incredibly compelling, though I couldn’t say exactly why
I love Jonathan Richman and I love teenage delusion
I tried my best but I did not succeed. Can’t manage a full hour of this. Having more fun reading their Wikipedia page than I am listening to the album. Maybe I’ll try again one day
Whatever dude
Fucking awesome
Wonderful, the kind of music that has you closing your eyes and listening to every note. I should be listening to more jazz.
First album I’ve gotten that has been one I already know well and love!!! I had a perfect time listening to it again!
Cool!
Cool!
I loved it! Never heard of these guys but really cool sound, would definitely listen again
It was good! I don’t know much about jazz but I enjoyed listening.
Cool, but nothing I haven’t heard before
Love Sinéad, I usually reach for lion & cobra, but sitting down and consciously listening to this record really grew my appreciation for it
A Bowie album? In my century?
Heartbreakingly beautiful
One of my most favorite albums
Interesting, didn’t catch my attention the way I hoped it would. Natalie’s party was my favorite, a few standouts later in the album, but altogether maybe too long?
You know what, if you go in fully expecting the over the top cheese factor, it’s actually quite fun
Listened to so much zeppelin in high school there’s just no possible way to be unbiased
Loved it, so much fun
It would take a hundred more listens to have anything at all to say
Instant classic, voice of a generation, etc etc
Some cool tunes on here, but overall kinda mid?
Iconic, loved it
I grew up with a lot more nirvana/pearl jam than AIC playing around the house, that said it’s a cool record. More on the metal side of grunge but I enjoyed it
Enjoyed this one a lot, another album where I had never heard a single song before. It moves enough that it doesn’t feel dated or tired
Wikipedia says this album influenced Bowie, that checks out
Perfect show, perfect album, one of my absolute favorites. Known it by heart since I was a child
Never heard this before! Loved it, what a great musical journey
There’s just no beating the voice and the accent. Great stuff, amazing how pop-sounding a lot of the riffs really are
Great album. Loved the production on it and the consistent theming throughout. At times a little cheesy and over the top, but it was 2005 after all
Love any opportunity to relisten to zeppelin. Empires collapse but cock rock will stand eternal
Perfection, there’s nothing in the world that sounds like this
Kinda unfortch that the biggest hits are all uptop, liked the poppy sounding tracks like Jet, fun little blends at the end, overall pretty good but it’s not gonna like a staple of mine or anything
Rest in peace king
You know at first I was thinking why is there so much britpop in this album generator, and then the longer I listened the more I found myself vining with it. I’m gonna go with 5 stars here, but I’m still not completely sold
Holy shit this rules
Excellent album, love the split between politics and loving, perfect combo
What a fucking blast, I already new fairytale, but hearing it the larger context was fascinating.
Cool
Wanted to love this so bad. Feels a little dull and dragging at times. Love anonymous collective though. Gonna give a couple more tries probably
Great!
Ugh I’m trying but I just do not care about this for some reason
You know what, they get to the point
Love this album I’ve got it in my car
Already a wailers fan of course, hadn’t ever listened to this one all the way through. I loved no more trouble quite a bit!
I’m a sad lonely cowboy and I simply must croon about it
Absolutely stunning vocals, nothing more to be said there, loved hearing the full album since I’m only really familiar with her hits. Floored by aint no way, the fullness of Aretha’s voice with the delicate opera vocals of Cissy is pure perfection
MORE oasis?? Actually it kinda slaps
You know it’s not my favorite, but it’s very fun and you can see why the girlies were foaming at the mouth for them back in the day. Cracking up at the album cover though, is that supposed to be 4 different dudes?? No fucking way. Too bad they didn’t have frosted tips back then, maybe one of them would’ve stood out
Nice! Lots of poppy fun, but this isn’t interesting or fun enough to be a favorite or anything
You know this isn’t usually my thing, but I ended up starting stopping and restarting this one a few times, and it keeps growing on me more with every relisten.
Overhyped of course but I’m not gonna ding them a star because of it. It’s good. I think I liked abbey road more though tbh
Great album, I tend to like the suburbs more but wake up is pure perfection
Loved it
Supposed to be working but instead I’m jamming, play down by the river for me one more time neil
I know it’s like influential or whatever, but just felt kinda meh to me. Maybe I’d think differently if more songs had the lasting power of blitzkrieg bop.
Holy shit. Absolutely entering regular rotation for me. Beautiful.
So I’ve never heard of this group even though the album is from 2018, and they’ve only got 6k monthly listeners on spotify. But several indieheads reddit threads about the band’s collapse due to SA allegations so clearly they had some following in the 10s. But now it’s like no one talks about them anymore, weird ghost town effect. Anyway cool songs, not like my favorite or anything though
Obvs love it
Having a little chuckle while the orchestra swells
Aw how peaceful and nice. Cowboy music but the cowboy is unarmed
Wow, always fun to listen to something that doesn’t sound like anything else. I had a great time with this one, put it on while working and the time just flew by!
Cool stuff! House music you could have on when people are visiting
Holy string section Batman
Holy shit, this was great, not what I was expecting at all.
Tbh this was a bit of a let down. No single song stands out that much. I love the g funk sound and it’s fun to find little references I recognize from other songs, but this isn’t good enough to overpower continuous misogyny and way too many skits.
At times beautiful at times confusing. I guess that’s Paul Simon. I’d be mad that this album contributed to he and Garfunkel never playing together again but I was born in 99 so that actually didn’t impact me all four stars
Hmm, was kinda hoping the whole album would be like the first song, and it wasn’t!!
Great album, a fun listen cause tbh I don’t usually play this one start to finish. Love America, maybe one of my most favorite songs ever?
I only knew California stars going into this, but this was a good listen. Fascinated more by the story behind the album, but I will probably throw this album into more regular listening.
Absolutely rips, pun intended, can believe the title track isn’t a mainstay.
Visionary, legendary, etc etc, prequel to an incredible rise, nothing else to say
Listen I’m not going to pretend I knew what was going on in 89 but it sounds like it was a lot of fun. Absolutely obsessed with your stage name being queen, naming your album all hail the queen, and then using queen again in two song titles and princess in one more. Anyway great album
Okay I realize I listen to these while I work, so music like this will always get high reviews from me cause it keeps me jamming. Anyway, loved it, New York is amazing
Hmm
