I struggled a bit with this. It's a really good album and I did like it, but it never really excited me. It took me weeks before I finally sat the whole album out because I kept turning it off because I wasn't in the mood for it. The mood never came... I think it would make the perfect soundtrack to a tranquil rainy night sitting by the window feeling melancholic, I don't have those nights too often unfortunately.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits

Great quality musicians but Dire Straits just doesn't excite me

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones

It's all very lovely but not very exciting to me.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull

I realise I'm severely biased by nostalgia. This album was a big thing when I was a teenager. I remember jumping around and going crazy to some of these songs on school parties. What a time that was. It's probably been over 20 years since I revisited this album and I was happy to do it for this list. Nostalgia aside I do think this is still a great album. Killing in the name is the obvious classic but I think Bullet in the head is maybe as great and there are a lot of other songs that still deliver.

I bought this album when it came out. I loved it then and it still holds up. Song 2 is the smash hit of course but 'On your own' has always been my favourite and tender is also a marvellous piece of music. In the end though, not all songs on this album are of the same level in my opinion so I can't really give it the full 5 stars.

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Aug 12 2025

Iggy is just the coolest ever and it pains me to not give him a 5 star rating. However I don't just love all of this album. Passenger and Lust for Life are superb songs but to many songs on this album just aren't as great in my opinion for me to give this 5 stars

I think I would be perfectly fine if I would die without ever hearing this album. It’s not that it’s terrible, but there just isn’t anything special about it

This album caught me by surprise. This definitely is not my kind of music so I did not expect much, however I enjoyed it a lot. It's old of course but it has very sweet, mellow charm. The singing and harmonies are magnificent.

I find it hard to give classics like this anything less then 5 stars. Who am I to argue with Led Zeppelin? But if they would ask me, maybe they could've done without Moby Dick

I can see how this has been a great influence on a lot of other bands and I feel that it might deserve a better verdict then I'm giving. However I can't really give this more then 2 stars... It's just so dated, lyrics about hell and satan, they just seem a bit childish now. Musically it isn't very well developed, even though I can see where bands like Metallica have taken inspiration from this. Production is also not great
