Lightning Bolt
5/5
Oh this looks shit. Not in the way I was expecting though! I need some noise right now bc I'm going a bit mental. Do i need to buy the book bc i want to know why this is on the list. I'm not even hating it but like. Does anyone NEED to hear this before they die. Maybe its what you hear as you die. If you're yknow driving into oncoming traffic at 86mph. I'm literally enjoying myself. This is real good noise. Feel like my heads in a washing machine full of rocks. Tempted to burn a car copy but for the aforementioned driving into oncoming traffic at 86mph. And like noise is something I don't think about coming in albums but this is like. Well assembled. Good track lengths good variety this might be a perfect version of what it is but can I in all good consciousness give it a five when I'm under the influence of my natural brain chemistry. .............yes.

Bruce Springsteen
5/5
Bruce! 😃 I quote this as one of my favourite albums but there are a few tracks that do the heavy lifting so im gonna try and be objective. Had it playing in my car all day as God intended. Haven't been that far though so im listening in full now. Badlands is THE opening track for when you change cds at the start of your 3.5 minute commute through the boring fucking town you grew up in to a job that you intend not to be doing in 6 months. Okay listening properly and not just skipping to promised land so I can scream it in my car on the way home from work.... all these songs are good. I sometimes think I dont like adam raised a cain very much but like. It's good and its a perfectly placed heavier track and I do actually like it. Candy's Room is so good. Love that driving rhythm. I don't need to tell you about racing in the street. Actually listening to promised land without Yelling along... its so. It's quintessential springsteen actually right. Im a working guy I've gotta get out of this town im driving my car Clarence Clemons Sax Solo harmonica breakdown. Banger. Fundamental. I'm not a guitar solo guy so when I say: the mf guitar solo on Prove It All Night aughsgsgsgs. I love this song. Ahhhh the title track pulls it all together so nicely at the end i love this album I love bruce springsteen. Trying to critique it just made me appreciate the sum of its parts even more.

Ireland mentioned! I fear listening to a live album of a band i know two studio recordings of is gonna be wasted on me but I can't be arsed listening to a bunch of hard rock for this. I'll pretend I'm at a festival ig. This isn't fair but every hard rock song sounds the same to me idk. I like Southbound. Hitting the Phil Lynott Respect button but this just isn't my thing. Few decent songs and a good sound but I can't listen to 1.25 hours of rock without getting bored sorry. Wish i could give half stars bc this is a solid 2.5 for me. Enough fun bits to round up from iron maiden and that 90s rnb album but it's hard won. Mostly by the crowd work toward the end.

Radiohead
2/5
This had to happen eventually. I know you're supposed to love radiohead but I've never understood. But like I've never listened to an actual album so maybe this will be a massive eye opener. It won't. But it could! But it won't. Still. Open mind. Boring noise so far! Sorry but paranoid android is just the polar opposite of what i want to hear when i press play on anything ever. MAYBE the guitar bit at the end is alright but that's probably just in comparison to the rest of it. One or two have started with a bit of instruments that's made me go 'ooh maybe this one's gonna be alright' and then inevitably Thom Yorke appears and ruins it. Let Down might be okay. But like I'd skip it on shuffle. Same with No Surprises and maybe MAYBE Karma Police if it was shorter. Like if either came on the radio at work I wouldn't actively want to throw the speaker against the wall but if they came on the radio in my car I would immediately change the station. This is me trying to be positive. Fitter Happier best track (no Thom Yorke voice). Start of Electioneering i got excited but actually in attempting to do an upbeat one have they just done a mid oasis track. Still probably my actual favourite song here - chance that i wouldnt change the station if it came on the radio in my car- but objectively possibly the worst?? Genre issue ig. Here's the positive takeaways: 1. I can mostly tell the songs apart, I can appreciate some of whats going on instrumentally, it held my attention even though i didn't enjoy it. Contrary to my bad attitude i'm giving it more than a 1. 2. if No Surprises was The Slow Number on a different album i would probably like it. It's a good song. 3. having actually listened to ok computer in full i can understand why a person that isn't me might want to listen to radiohead. 4. I can back up saying I Hate Radiohead with having actually listened to ok computer in full. Is that okay. Can I go now.
