1001 Albums Summary

Not surprised to be starting with Beatles, but so many good songs on this album despite not being Beatles #1 songs.

So ridiculously 80s, would need another listen through to appreciate better. 'The Cross' jumped out at me, could be because I was getting used to the 80s vibe by then.

Songwriting stands out, enjoyed the album more than I thought I would

Despite hearing this so much growing up, hearing it now I appreciate it way more. Still not a fan of 'Stop your Sobbing', but the rest of the album sounds great. 'The Wait' is my new favorite Pretenders song.

A solid Queen experience including Best Friend and Bohemian Rhapsody, but also B-sides including I'm In Love With My Car. Glad to have finally listened to this one after its mention in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.

Great voice, great songs, but calling the love interest 'Daddy' is rough.

Great r&b voice, and sounds pretty cool for early 90s. Lyrics arent that impressive and didn't age well, however Greencard song is pretty fitting for today.

Not disco - 70s soft rock ballads. Did not enjoy it, but giving it a 2 for the high production value on some tracks.

The hits on this album are iconic, but some good b sides too.

For its time, great blues sound. Listening today, the lyrics aren't great, and songs were wildly overplayed on every rock station growing up.

Great overall sound, but unique across each song across the album. Moog Raga instrumental is terrible.

A lot of great classics, but Dumb and Dumber successfully destroyed Mockingbird for all eternity

Always fun listening to young Beatles

Not normally my genre but not bad

Pretty terrible arena rock and the entire album did not age well. Hits I thought were great in high school (dead or alive) are forever ruined by constant radio overplay. Bumped up to 2 stars solely because Living on a Prayer has its rightful place: to be blared loudly in arenas during 3rd period hockey comebacks.

I love Eddie's voice, and am a fan of Pearl Jam in general, but think the bulk of this album is hurt by decades of radio overplay.

Not bad, and really liked the related song playlist that came after the album a lot

Want to spend more time with this album listening to his lyrics, but liked the sound and refusal to sing any melody whatsoever.

This band is pretty cool, feels like if this album were released today nobody would be able to tell its 50 years old

Love the first half of this album. Back half drops it to 4 stars

Of all the great indie albums from this era, this one? Instrumental parts are solid, but can't stand the singing at all - hard to listen to this album.

Pretty unique blues sound and voice - songs don't sound repetitive despite simple rythyms.

It's a big album - some songs were great, some were not. Love the genre, and have to imagine how much this has inspired some other great Irish rock bands like Flogging Molly. But during a few points on this album, I wished I was just listening to Flogging Molly instead. The lead singer's "HOOs" and jazzy lyrical solos weren't great.
