Nevermind by Nirvana
Jul 08 2025

Clearly musically better than most of what we have listened to but kind of got bored towards the last third The girls loved it

The Gilded Palace Of Sin by The Flying Burrito Brothers
Jul 09 2025

Pleasant enough at first but then just became very very bored.

Homework by Daft Punk
Jul 10 2025

If that’s the homework I don’t think they were listening in school If I did exercise I would probably listen to it but it is so repetitive but just feels like a few fellas pressing keys on some editing software. I think even I could make this sort of music just as good A 2 because there’s a couple of good bits

Punishing Kiss by Ute Lemper
Jul 11 2025

Was all punishing and certainly no kiss. Weird kind of shit ballads but not even power ballads. Poor mans Whitney. I thought the song ‘split’ was going to change it with the first 20 seconds but alas it turned into drivel. Past its sell by

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Jul 12 2025

Very pleasant. Good background hotel, background drinking or eating music or cooking music. Will probably listen to again or actually finish the album because it’s obviously far too long for 1 go. 6 discs is outrageous A 3.5 rounded down to a 3 for the sheer length

High Violet by The National
Jul 13 2025

Found this pretty enjoyable but it did feel like the album you drive away from being dumped by your Mrs to. Also not sure I really heard most of words because of his voice versus music balance. Even tried adjusting my settings. Think it would be good music to be stoned to or basically decent come down shit

Who's Next by The Who
Jul 14 2025

Absolutely cracking

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Jul 15 2025

For someone who has been around for so long and is this well known I was probably expecting a little bit better. It’s all fairly average - nothing particularly memorable

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Jul 16 2025

I enjoyed this quite a lot. May genuinely listen to again. Layla is an absolute cracker I’d never heard before so thoroughly surprising for me.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Jul 17 2025

Bloody cracking. Gets a 5 simply for the Mercedes Benz song. Will definitely be listening to this again. I hadn’t previously listened to anything by Joplin but this really was a delight

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Jul 18 2025

I’m not sure anybody needs to be singing about setting themselves on fire courting their own legs off The actual songs and tunes themselves weren’t offensive but every song identical and lyrics complete madness

Graceland by Paul Simon
Jul 19 2025

Brilliant from beginning to end. A real treat. And genuine 10/10 rather than a 9 rounded up to a 5. Fantastic

Third by Soft Machine
Jul 20 2025

I’m pretty sure my primary school music class sounded better

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Jul 21 2025

I can’t believe anyone would listen to this twice

Raw Power by The Stooges
Jul 22 2025

I think this was probably pretty good but I couldn’t see anything bad or anything amazing so a solid 3/5

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

Never listened to Black Sabbath before and I’ll be honest I was fully expecting to hear Ozzy just screaming and shouting down a microphone. But I was very pleasantly surprised. I’ve actually listened to this album twice (which given I’m so far behind on my album a day is quite the compliment) I couldn’t find anything I didn’t enjoy about it. Bang on a 5 - and that isn’t just because he’s dead

Guitar Town by Steve Earle
Jul 25 2025

Given this is called Guitar Town I was hoping for some really cool guitar solos or similar. Unfortunately this did not deliver. Was just very generic boring blandness. Completely inoffensive but so vanilla

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Jul 26 2025

Finally an album with variety. The range of songs on here is really very good. Albums can be hard to listen to sometimes if they are all the same style.

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Jul 28 2025

Made me want to end it all. I am sure it’s musically good for its genre but god it was dull

Synchronicity by The Police
Jul 30 2025

This was absolute shite. There was absolutely nothing synchronised about it whatsoever. Just get like nonsense wailing and people banging instruments Noticeably awful Would turn off it it came on the radio Expected more

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Jul 31 2025

I was dreading this as it sounded shit but I was actually really enjoying it and will listen again I can’t say musically why I liked it but I really did

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
Aug 01 2025

Just fucking noise. Felt like when you walk into your kids doing music class Awful

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Aug 02 2025

I really wanted this to be better. I didn’t not enjoy it but it all seemed to lack anything different and all seemed a bit same. I don’t know if that means the musical range of ray charles needs calling into question but it wasn’t as genius as I was hoping

Aug 03 2025

All very good. No padding at all. Not sure a live album really counts as they aren’t playing their worst songs live but it was good all the same.

Aug 04 2025

Liked the actual musical aspects which is better than most rap I imagine But the lyrics were a bit up and down. Not sure any song needs to be talking about cracking people’s heads open and eating their brains. Pretty enjoyable

OK Computer by Radiohead
Aug 05 2025

Just dead good innit

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Aug 06 2025

IMO Could have done with some words - which is probably a really poor opinion and not appreciative of it musical achievements. All pleasant enough but need something more

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Aug 07 2025

Decent enough to listen to but nothing write home about. Bang average I’d say

Aug 08 2025

I actually don’t look good on the dance floor but thanks for the vote of confidence. Obviously a 5, everything else is bollocks. I think you do need to listen to this with a smoke after a few jars though

Back In Black by AC/DC
Aug 09 2025

Enjoyed this quite a lot. Feels like it almost there musically but not quite perfect. Potentially could be criticised for being rather samey but most albums seem to be in this bracket.

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Aug 10 2025

She might be Bonnie, but she’s fucking boring

Hysteria by Def Leppard
Aug 11 2025

Thought this was going to better. Generally just mildly organised noise

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Aug 12 2025

Not sure I like live albums.

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Aug 13 2025

I think this sort of album is why I’m doing this thing. Something I don’t know well the should be good and then is

Peter Gabriel 3 by Peter Gabriel
Aug 15 2025

Pretty good. Missing a banger I think

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Aug 18 2025

Was looking forward to this and all I can share is - it delivered. Just really enjoyable and now on the playlist to listen to regularly. Never really knew much about blondie before - assumed there was a risk it was a bit dated - but turns out it’s an absolute classic

Abbey Road by Beatles
Aug 19 2025

The Beatles have better albums and my mother in law is a scouser so can’t give it a 5 out of pure hate

Moss Side Story by Barry Adamson
Aug 20 2025

Load of bollocks. Just a collection of sounds thrown together.

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Aug 21 2025

Felt like I was on speed all the way through it. I found it really good but also slightly annoying

Soul Mining by The The
Aug 22 2025

Average at best. Not unpleasant. Spastic name

Young Americans by David Bowie
Aug 26 2025

I thought Bowie was supposed to be good. This was awful.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Aug 27 2025

Some of it is a little bit dated, but a couple of classics in there.

Blur by Blur
Aug 28 2025

I kind of blur in the 90s. Maybe I was a bit young but have picked it up since I really really enjoy it but it’s just not quite top drawer. Some songs are a clear five but others felt like they were slightly obscure

Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Aug 29 2025

I really care if all sounds the same I really enjoyed it

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Sep 01 2025

I thought this was fantastic much over variety than most albums overall very happy. Tailed off a bit towards the end.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Sep 02 2025

A true three. Straight down the middle, no questions asked

Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera
Sep 03 2025

I was actually looking forward to this expecting it to be a little bit different and I suppose expecting expecting it to surprise me. Unfortunately, he was generally just her doing that screaming thing she does.

Good Old Boys by Randy Newman
Sep 04 2025

Not sure about the lyrics in that first song, good job I was on my own. Completely utterly straight down the middle average no complaints more than really go looking for this sort of music.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Sep 05 2025

I still don’t know if Chapman is a bloke or a Bird but this is very nice easy listening. Good good for a hangover or just generally very pleasant.

Ramones by Ramones
Sep 09 2025

Thought this was going to be better. Hard to actually hear what was going on. But of a shame

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Oct 16 2025

Pleasant enough. Not really my style but has a time and a place

War by U2
Oct 17 2025

Was decent enough but I don’t think anything particularly special

Heroes by David Bowie
Oct 20 2025

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am with Bowie not being as good as I thought it would be. Might be harsh due to expectation, but I think he’s a bit shit.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Oct 21 2025

Almost starts too good and fade out a bit to be a five but still thoroughly enjoyable

Protection by Massive Attack
Oct 22 2025

Just noise strung together in a mildly organised way

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Oct 24 2025

Probably makes a good film soundtrack,

Tapestry by Carole King
Mar 26 2026

Because I am so far behind, I listen to this just after Lana Del Rey. The first song say welcome change of mood. Enjoy the beginning of the album, but it seemed to taper off a little bit for me.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Mar 27 2026

Usual Coldplay, put the first song on and it all merges into one

Unhalfbricking by Fairport Convention
Apr 08 2026

Music was as strange as the name
