Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin

Have an original 69 release of this one on vinyl I inherited from my gay hippie great uncle that went to Woodstock. Solid album for sure. Enjoy listening to this one every time. 4.75/5

Not for me. I’ve never liked 80s instrument effects and production. I find it very cheesy and gimmicky. This album is very cheesy and gimmicky. Which I guess 80s was the beginning of the digital era so it’s all new sounds but there’s a successful, timeless way to do it, this album is absolutely not it. I will not ever listen to this album again to be completely honest. Compositionally, I didn’t find this album interesting, it also didn’t feel serious or genuine? Also, what’s with the off-key squelchy vocals? 1/5

Tommy by The Who
Nov 20 2025

3.5/5 Nice, solid British rock album. One iconic song in here. You definitely hear influences from the Beatles / Led Zeppelin / Rolling Stones / Cream and many other related groups for the late 60s 70s. Solid era for music imo, I grew up listening to this type of stuff lots so I may be biased. The first bit of disc 1 which I assume was side A of the record, flowed together nicely. You can tell this was made during an era when people listened to albums not just disjointed singles. The backup vocals oscillating going “Ah ah ah ah” in Christmas is pretty fuckin rad. Some lyrics in We’re Not Gonna Take It were a bit gross, didn’t age well. Overall enjoyed listening to this album as background music, not sure I’d go back to any song tbh, maybe the pinball wizard one cause the hook goes hard and it’s kinda funny. The Who and this genre has a lot of influence in my music making.

London Calling by The Clash
Nov 21 2025

Yeah it’s pretty good. Idk if I’m a huge fan of the vocal style, very hard syllables and such. Musically not too bad either. Some of it felts a bit repetitive. I feel like this set the stage for punk music. I feel like there are some songs by the clash that I really enjoy, some I just kinda find whatever. This album felt like whatever to me hahah. Nothing stood out really, neither good nor bad. The Guns of Brixton sounds like a Gorillaz song, pretty sick. And all of a sudden a ska song?? Wrong em boyo is so dif than the songs before it. Aight ok some reggae later on in the album. I guess it is 70 minutes of music it can’t all be the same rock songs throughout the whole album. So I’ll ask, why tf is this album so damn long?

Nov 24 2025

Hell yeah this album huge for hip hop. This was definitely more than just music, a statement on police brutality, racism, perceptions, etc. Instrumentals have hints of late 80s sprinkled in but since they’re mostly samples, it’s just good sounds from the 60s-70s. Simple drum beats. Classic hip hop. There’s some huge names in rap on this album. Definitely wild to see the evolution from this to newer music they’ve made. Some of these songs are so good, straight outta Compton, gangsta gangsta, fuck the police, express yourself, I ain’t tha 1. Some are pretty mid but whatever. Prob should’ve listened on vinyl or headphones instead of my little bluetooth but whatever. This is more about the message than the hi fi.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Nov 25 2025

Oh this is vibey right off the bat. Super dreamy first song. Guitar effects are pretty neat for the first three songs. I find the drum tone a bit too reverb, feels like bad 80s drums. Compositionally these songs are so different than what I typically hear. The first song I like, it was interesting and balanced, kicked off the album well. The others have been pretty bleh. As much as I’ve never been someone to deeply and consciously listen to lyrics, for some reason my brain turns that off, I usually just listen to vocal melody and cadence. I didn’t like these vocals. This doesn’t sound like it’s in English but just looked up lyrics, it is. I just realized it’s a heavy Scottish accent, it becomes more clear as the album goes on. The vocal delivery and performance feel disjointed from the music to me. Songs 4 and 5 6, I thought for a moment oh maybe this will be good from the music intro but then the chord changes ruin it for me. I just really don’t care for it. And the vocal melodies overtop, nah, not it. I Wear Your Ring was foul lol. The harmonics in Road, River and Rail were not working for me. Seems like there’s key changes in Frou-frou song, and the instruments seem to lag with catching up to the vocals, when they finally do it’s not a bad outro. Overall, it feels very 90s. First song was pretty cool, I can imagine popping that cd into a system and listening back in the 90s, but the rest of the album sharply went downhill for me. Went back to listen to the first song, cherry coloured funk, and it still stands as the best song on the album to me, still not something I’ll be adding to my playlists. To have honest I wish I could have just stopped there, listening to the rest of the album skewed how I hear that first song for sure. 2.5/5 as an album but the first song gets a 3.5

Nov 26 2025

Why r these so long songs. Glad sounds like a movie soundtrack and very much gospel music. I actually really enjoy this track. Freedom Rider was pretty vibey. Weird sax take at one point in the song, you’d think they’d try for a better take, like it audibly sounded like a fuck up or missed notes lol. But whatever. John Barleycorn sounds like a wannabe Led Zeppelin song so bad, down to the flute. This came out after Led Zeppelin as well, but this sounds specifically like stairway which came out after. Hmmm. The rest of the album was pretty tight and doing its own funky soul thing till this song came on. Feels like the first two songs on the album are a different artist. Overall, not a bad listen but nothing special blowing my mind. 3.5/5

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Nov 27 2025

Im about to go off again, sorry yall. A group of my Saskatoon friends love Pavement… for some reason. 90s punk I guess. Sounds like me on the drums back there. Although, I feel like I have better fills and beats to throw in at least though, idk maybe I’m over confident but it’s pretty lacking. I’ve never understood the appeal of this type of punk and bands like this and Pup. It’s like noisemaking which I guess I do enjoy some aspects, the complete lack of not giving a single fuck is kinda satisfying. But idk the rest of it just feels like they gave a few fucks, but not enough to be actually good, and not little enough for it to carry that not giving a fuck vibe. Meh. The drums continue to suck as I listen. They also are pretty poorly recorded/tuned. This is what happens when your music is meant to be listened to live and just absolutely blowing out people’s eardrums so you don’t actually notice that the tone sounds like ass. Kinda disappointing production. Fame Throwa I had a physical reaction when the vocals came in with a “more of this shit huh” but the heavy drop was kinda cool. 2

Nov 28 2025

Okay. Skip. No thanks. Aight Ba ba ba ba baaaaa. Guys this is hardcore. Tbh I didn’t care to finish this album.

Dec 01 2025

The drumming in this album compared to the last is insane. Whoever’s drumming is pretty cracked. I really enjoyed this album. Some of the lyrics and whisk Muse vibe is a nooooo cringey but it didn’t ruin it for me. Overall the music is pretty neat, heavier than I usually listen to.

Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra
Dec 02 2025

Hell yeah I fucking love this. So warm, that trumpet tone chefs kiss. Feels like Christmas music too. Vocals, of course, fucking on point. Jazz band on point. Music composition on point. We don’t write music like this anymore… Sooooo many incredible songs on this album. Not even just like, good songs but songs that have become household songs that I feel like everyone in at least North America knows or has heard. Definitely some very traditional gender role lyrics in here. Sucky, but unfortunately that was the time… “You’re only a maid, and I am only a man”, what.

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Dec 03 2025

Crazy how a few of these songs are so fucking good and so popular, and the rest are so fucking mid. As an album, not the best. But the couple singles on here slap. 2.5

Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith
Dec 04 2025

I’m annoyed. The website didn’t save my write up from yesterday. Anyways some really good songs on here. Overall not bad. Some don’t sound like Aerosmith which is funny. 3.5

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Dec 05 2025

Is this what you call prog rock? Ew. But also some of it is fucking sick? Def some jazz influences in there that was cool. This kept me in the edge of being fucking irritated for having to listen to it. But then some little like relief or something cool would come in and I’d be like okaaay I guess it’s not that bad. But overall I didn’t care for it. Idk if I even finished the album tbh. 2.7

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Dec 08 2025

Why’s this first song so damnnn quiet. Reminds me of the intro to my album that drives me fucking insane lol. Driving around in my CAR This album got me feelin like a STAR 3.5?

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Dec 09 2025

Maybe I’m in a good mood but I actually didn’t mind this. Usually this shit kinda sucks to me but it scratched an itch for me. Interesting late 80s punk. Total Trash starts playing completely foul notes like 3 mins in but I fucking love it? Wtf I think I need to be in the right mood to listen to this. Or it put me in that mood. …Which is anxious. But I actually fuck with this a bit.

Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
Dec 10 2025

Pre listen thoughts: OH HELL YEAAAAH. I was sent The Ocean years ago and have been in love with that song. I think I’ve listened to this full album before, we shall see. That slide guitar mmmmmph. Folky, twang in all the right ways. Classic soul vocals, surfy, orchestral, deliciousness. All of the instrument tones are so fucking juicy and mixed so nicely. And the song compositions are fantastic and nice to listen to. Definitely atmospheric as well. This music is bringing me to another world. Really enjoy listening to this. Actually listening through for a second time. Yeah I fucking love this. Dreamy. Makes me happy. 5/5

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Dec 12 2025

Driving to Saskatoon rn. This first song sounds like complete ass through my truck speakers… incoherent, radio fuzz. My speakers aren’t that bad. wtf is this song. This song literally hurts my ears, or I can’t hear it. First four songs sucked. Mix was trash. The rest is good, some songs bangers even. NIN are fucking weird. But it’s fucking cool. The fact I listened to Closer so much as a teen is hella concerning and also probably explains a lot. 3.75/5

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Dec 16 2025

LFG AAAAAIAAAAAH AHHHHH Definitely some really good stuff in here. Classic rock, blues, real nice. Can’t believe I’ve never really listened to Since I’ve Been Loving You. Might have been my fave song on here. I was asked last week what the best led zeppelin album was and I said IV. This one is pretty damn good too though. Was super easy listening throughout the whole album. I love this band. Last song I could’ve done without though. Weak ending to an overall very solid album.

Aha Shake Heartbreak by Kings of Leon
Dec 17 2025

Yeah not bad. Taper Jean Girl is a banger. Nostalgic, this type of sound influenced a lot of my early music in my high school bands. 3.25/5

The Grand Tour by George Jones
Dec 18 2025

This is a good ol country album. I'm a fan for sure. Subject matter feels good too, nothing really controversial or poorly aged from my perspective. Thanks George Jones..

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Dec 19 2025

I’ve seen this album art before… I’m sure I’ve listened to some of this. Love bossa nova, although this ain’t bossa nova, just Portugués music. From the get go this is a vibe. Yeah. I will definitely be listening to this album again, saved. This slaps. Very much in the same genre realm as the Sergio Mendes album I constantly listen too. Idk what to call this genre but it’s so fun. The little squeaky horn sound this makes me happy. The album most definitely builds. Last two songs are crazy. I had to stop listening and jumped back in on those two later, it was a bit jarring tbh. It’s funny the title song is my least favourite. Sooo last two songs not for me, but the rest of the album is top notch. 4.5

Odelay by Beck
Dec 22 2025

Oh man the amount of times I listened to this album in my teens is insane. I’d throw this CD on my weird little boombox thing and just do, random things? I actually don’t remember. Anyways, I will enjoy re listening to this. I didn’t realize this came out in 96 that’s actually crazy it feels a lot more like 2000s music to me. This album is so weird. So fucking good. Masterpiece tbh. Weird time signatures, crazy genre blends, tasteful af. Mix isn’t even something I used to think about and am also still not thinking about now cause it’s just so easy to listen to it’s a well sculpted album lol.

Diamond Life by Sade
Dec 23 2025

Sade is a vibe. Smooth Operator to kick off the album? Mmm yes lets goooo. Off to a good start, let's see how the rest goes. I've learned to have a bit more respect for some 80s tunes lately, so I'm becoming more of a fan. Some of it is pretty mid. I still just find a lot of 80s music to be pretty meh, but it wasn't painful to have on in the background while I worked. Didn't kill me. I find it surprising Your Love is King has substantially more plays than Smooth Operator or any other song on the the album on Spotify... It's a pretty damn mid song, especially compared to Smooth Operator. I find there are very few gems that come out of 80s music. The way people made music can be so easily so cheesy, but when done right it can be reallllly good and timeless and just unlike any other era of music (Look at Michael Jackson) but unfortunately so much of 80s tunes just aren't great.

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Dec 24 2025

Interesting. 70s Zeppelin vibes. Multiple lead vocalists, that's neat. The Dirge song really made me uncomfortable. Very Catholic/religious... nuh uh. 2.5

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Dec 29 2025

I didn’t finish it, travelling. But from what I listened I liked it.

The Clash by The Clash
Dec 30 2025

1001 albums and you give us two The Clash albums within a month? No thanks. Tf. I ain’t listenin to this shi

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
Jan 09 2026

Idk pretty mid. I’m in a sleep deprived, overworked and angry mood because of it, so this album fits the vibe. But the harsh sounds legit hurt my ears wtf, I don’t like that. Seems like a blend of Queens of the Stone Age and NIN which is sorta neat. Nothing stood out to me as a banger. Probably won’t listen to this album or artist again tbh. Couldn’t make it through the last 2 songs I had enough. 2.75/5

Bad by Michael Jackson
Jan 12 2026

Hey this is actually pretty good. Are we really sure he was a pedo? I’m thinking that shit was a set up and bs. Real pedos now a days seem to just get away with it and no one’s cares. 4.5/5

Jan 14 2026

Some cool tones in here. Some pretty whatever songs too. I like the fart song. Moog Raga. Hell yeah

Jan 16 2026

Hell yeah. Haven’t listened to the whole album front to back before. Good shit. I love how this era of rap almost always had an intro track for the start of an album. They all seem to have a similar type vibe too, they’re more like, set the vibe and scene rather than being just an instrumental intro.

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jan 19 2026

Not the best jack white album out there that’s for sure. But there’s some good songs in here. 3.5/5

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jan 20 2026

Grew up listening to this album. Most of the songs I enjoy. Some I quite loathe. Whatever. Starts out strong. Definitely a significant album for me in high school. Hasn’t really aged that well for me, like I’m not super excited to listen to this again.

A Short Album About Love by The Divine Comedy
Jan 21 2026

Nah. I hate the wobbly vocals right off the hop. Skip. Ok I didn’t actually skip the first song but the vocals get worse. How is this a top album in the world… It’s like poorly executed show tunes. I heard Simon Cowell also hates show tunes. Yea this fucking blows. I’m out. Song 2 of the track was enough to know I can’t sit through the rest.

Jan 22 2026

4 hours of fucking music? Ain’t nobody got time for this 80s shit. Defaulting at a 2.5/5 since I don’t have the time for this shit and first song was mid as.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Jan 23 2026

Immediately this reminds me of the School of Rock intro scene with that band playing whatever song it is. Something about the screaming vocal harmonies, similar key too. I can’t unhear it now. Tbh I dig that it’s pretty fuckin rad. Generally I like this stuff though. I’ve always known Deep Purple for Smoke on the Water but haven’t listened to much else. Good to listen to while I work. 3.75/5 so round up to 4 I guess.

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Jan 26 2026

Hell yeah. I hope it lets me review this one when I get back from my trip cause Al Green slaps. This was a full album of bangers. Literally, want to pop this record in and just

Jan 28 2026

I rarely have every song from an album saved. Front to back this album is so good. The songs are so unique but now I’d say they’re classics and shaped a lot of new music.

Jan 29 2026

Was really in the mood to listen to some good country bangers. First three songs were okaaay. Jericho was getting better. Nothing in here felt worth saving it coming back to really idk. Like, almost there but something was missing.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Feb 02 2026

Have an original 69 release of this one on vinyl I inherited from my gay hippie great uncle that went to Woodstock. Solid album for sure. Enjoy listening to this one every time. 4.75/5

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Feb 03 2026

I like the album art. And the name. This is sick. Cool beats. Breakbeats, scratching, neat samples. I dig it. It feel like nice light 90s nostalgia. I love the drum tones so much they sound so good. Stem/Long Stem is unhinged lol wtf.

G. Love And Special Sauce by G. Love & Special Sauce
Feb 04 2026

This album sounds pretty fricken, glonky dude. The last song on this album was absolute garbo. Sounds like me playing guitar and singing when I’m absolutely black out drunk and incapable of standing. This group’s sound got really old to me real quick. First songs I enjoyed listening to though, pretty chill stuff. Nothing special though idk.

British Steel by Judas Priest
Feb 05 2026

Wow I’m instantly watching a skate video. This kinda rocks. Breaking the law. Breaking the law. Living after midnight is also a classic. If I wasn’t in the mood of like, hell yeah skateboarding video type vibe, I’d probably think this was cheesy as hell.

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Feb 06 2026

First song is pretty meh. And then you go straight into let love rule, banger from the first note. It’s crazy how there’s so much more confidence exuded in Let Love Rule versus the first song on the album, which feels real shaky. Idk how else to explain it, you can hear they didn’t have the same confidence/drive behind the first song. Fear was the next noticeably good song on the album. Mr. Cab Driver is still on my rotation. What a good song, and interesting how the racism and situation has flipped. The chances of getting a white cab driver now a days is rare lol. Oooo I haven’t heard Be before. I like it. Fits the vibe. The doubled/harmonized vocals sound real good. As the song goes I’m pretty sure they’re two separate vocal takes cause they change slightly here and there. That’s pretty cool.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Feb 09 2026

Solid Beatles album for sure. Not my fave, but solid.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Feb 10 2026

Took everything in me to not skip the first song. Multiple times. Almost did it automatically the first 10 seconds and remembered I’m consciously listening to this whole album… Why is the first song so fucking long and shitty. Second song is no better. The fuck is this shitty ass album. This shot is pissing me off to listen to. I can imagine some like whacked out 60-70 year old acid fried dude that can’t give up the good old days who has really fucking hippie alternative views on everything, being the only type of person to enjoy this. From what I heard, this is a raging piece of shit, sorry David Bowie.

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Feb 11 2026

I mean, it’s fine. It’s weird but fine. Listened while working and it didn’t piss me off, also didn’t catch my attention by any means. Was kinda just music I guess.

Feb 12 2026

Pretty mid. Late 80s, what do you expect. Idk wasn’t repulsive. Wasn’t something I’d go back to. Honestly today anything is better than my overplayed algorithm so that’s maybe closing my judgement

Tapestry by Carole King
Feb 13 2026

This is nice. I like Its Too Late Listening to this I’m just thinking about how music can be a good reflection of what life was like at that time and such, captures the vibe of an era. Imagine life being so light and sweet like this? God damn, no one’s making music like this and Anne Murray in this state of the world lol. Damn there’s actually so many good songs on this album. Super good album. 70s was a solid decade for music for sure. wtf is wrong with the 80s my god, why can’t you be like the 70s? 4.5/5

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Feb 18 2026

Interesting, all the songs before Superstition have quite a different sound and almost genre to them. They’re pretty sparse, frilly vocals, with not super catchy melodies. Then superstition hits and it’s like bam in your face well written song with strong synth/guitar and bass lines. Vocals go off, the previous songs don’t hit like this at all. The rest of the album is generally slower tempo, laid back, moody. Superstition is being up the average for this album severely. It’s not like the other songs were necessarily bad, but it’s not like they were really great either.

Signing Off by UB40
Feb 19 2026

Immediate nostalgia vibes to summer and high school when I used to listen to a lot of reggae. I have only really listened to red red wine by UB40 so this is cool. 4 songs in so far and my impression is this is good background music but nothing that really hits or stands out. Would be a nice hanging out on the beach playlist. Ok I started getting really tired listening to this by the last 4 or so songs. It’s pretty much all the same after a while. Songs are quite long and repetitive. 2.5/5

Lazer Guided Melodies by Spiritualized
Feb 20 2026

Love the album art. Slow peaceful vibes of the first song at the start are what I need this morning. Definitely a neat ethereal album. I’m into it.

Feb 23 2026

Man what happened to the Arctic Monkeys. This shit was so good. Good fun rock idk what this genres actually called. I’m in a hella thrashy mood, my manager can go fuck herself. This is doing it for me. I like. The break at the end of Perhaps Vampires is fucking sick.

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Feb 24 2026

Not bad. Some good stuff mixed in. Very folky. Idk if I have any detailed notes, didn’t listen close enough tbh. And wasn’t interested enough to listen so closely, it didn’t catch my attention enough.

John Prine by John Prine
Feb 25 2026

Twangy as heck country. Good though. Pretty good story telling. Good diversity throughout the album, songs didn’t end up all sounding the same which is a low bar but great to hear lol. Sounded nice

Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine
Feb 26 2026

What the fuck. This is My Bloody Valentine? So painfully bad 80s in the first song so far. Horrendous. Off pitch, off beat, cheap drum tones. Ass. Second song was slightly better. Very clearly meant to be very tense and clashing, this is more palatable. I have a feeling this might be the best song on the album. Ugh. Fuck this I straight up am annoyed and pissed off they decided to make this bullshit. This is trash. This sounds like music made by a group of beginner level tone deaf musicians which is fine, make art but the musicality sucks and I don’t like listening to it. I couldn’t get through it. I listened to the first 30 s or songs 4-7 and I fucking quit. I guess being 88 release, this may have been one of the first real dissonant horribly foul album that probably sparked the whole 90s punk movement. This album really Isn’t Anything.

Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney
Mar 04 2026

Seeing 1988 I’m scared. Buuuut idk it’s ok so far from listening to the first 30 seconds. We shall see. Idk it’s kinda shit tbh. Recording quality and mix is hard to listen to. Honestly, fuck this website’s album suggestions. Majority of this music is shit. Cmon guys.

Goodbye And Hello by Tim Buckley
Mar 06 2026

More like goodbye to these album reviews. Meh, but Pleasant Street was pretty good. Nice British rock big guitar solo strong vocals type thing happening. Idk there’s nothing really super interesting happening in these songs they’re pretty straight forward and repetitive boring. I don’t mind the genre and tones they have happening it’s that classic late 60s sound which I enjoy. But compositions aren’t anything special. Not interested in finishing this album. Got through most of it. Skipped quite a few cause they were just too repetitive. 2/5
