1001 Albums Summary

I don't think I knew what REM sounded like although I'm sure I never would have admitted that. I love that the album is "jangle pop" according to Wikipedia and my ears, but has such impactful and deep lyrics in most songs. I really like the layered instruments with more simple vocals. The saxophone in Fireplace!! The double lyrics in King of Birds!!

Gosh I love Bob Marley. As a daughter of a Marley-loving dad, I know this album well and LOVE it! This album makes me think of sitting outside during a warm summer day, sunglasses on, dogs playing, and smoking a joint.

I loved my sister's take: this is nature in music form. LOVED this album, need to own it!

It was... Okay. It felt a little repetitive and boring but wasn't bad by any means.

I loved the flute so much, but reading about how the producers didn't listen to her at all and how much Nico hated it broke my heart!

I love this album. The songwriting is amazing, but it's still easy to jam to and makes you want to dance. To be able to do both of those is iconic. The Kinks weren't trying to be "cool" but just music they genuinely love and that shines through each song. I also love that Ray Davies produced this, so he had full control over how the music was shared. My favorite lyrics are “This world is big and wild and half insane.”

This one just isn't my kind of music. It felt discombobulated.

Metal usually isn't my favorite genre, but this definitely slaps! The earlier metal is still good music instead of just noise.

It's fine, but I don't think it's as amazing as some of the hype around it implies!

Man, after everything that has come out about p diddy, this album feels so emotional. I love this album - from the beats themselves to the lyrics that tell such a story. Big fan!

It's really hard for me to enjoy Kanye's music with his statements and actions in recent years. However, I've always loved some of his early work. He is such a great producer.
