Smash by The Offspring
May 24 2026

Great guitar throughout the album Fun to jam to, good focus music for me Lyrically, lots of anger and cynicism... Are they ok? Self Esteem is iconic- but also, are they ok??? Therapy is a great idea The last track, Smash, is devious. I thought something was wrong with my headphones/hearing for a solid minute.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
May 25 2026

It sounds like the 70s I didn't mind listening to it. Nothing really stood out, though

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
May 26 2026

Opening song- not what I expected from the Beach Boys! 2nd song - ok, this sounds more like what I expected from the Beach Boys lol Disney Girls is putting me to sleep. Also, strongly reminiscent of the Beatles Student Demonstration Time- I like this one! Very bluesy. Interesting use of a theramin Aside from Student Demonstration Time, not many standouts for me. Didn't mind having on in the background

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
May 27 2026

I like the instrumentation This is more upbeat, which is appreciated after the last few. Is this a protest album? It feels old school, but is actually super recent. I was surprised. Started strong, then got a little repetitive. Final Days on the Planet is a strong track. Beautiful voice. Some standouts, but some fall into repetitive

Blur by Blur
May 28 2026

I like the strong guitars on the first track I like song 2 Theme from retro was weird and kind of broke up the album in a strange way. Not sure what they were trying to do here. It suddenly feels like I'm listening to the Beatles. Which is fine, it just shocked me tonally. They have really strong guitars! This is an experimental album. I think I like it, but it's not an easy listening kind of record. I want to look up the band's intentions behind creating this, because it's definitely fun, but I want to know if they themed it. This is the first album on the list so far that I've relistened to immediately to try to see if I missed something/ capture more nuance.

Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
May 29 2026

I like the instrumentation, esp the guitars and bass. The addition of an orchestra was fun. Is this a rock opera? The story of Melody Nelson It threw me off how short some of the songs were It was a very cool album. The subject matter however is very cringe. Low key glad I only understand basic French

B-52's by The B-52's
May 30 2026

This is very 70s funk The second song is kinda fun. I like the rhythm section. Is this about first ladies? Googled it. It's random names and about the beehive hairdo This album is kinda chaotic lol You can tell it inspired modern artists

Dirty by Sonic Youth
May 31 2026

Solid album. Nothing really stood out.

Rocks by Aerosmith
Jun 01 2026

Liked the instrumentation, especially the guitar As far as individual songs, there wasn't a huge standout here. This may be an unfair comment, due to some of their iconic tracks in other albums Enjoyed listening to this, would definitely have this in the background

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jun 02 2026

Lol at the diss in the opening song Would enjoy this more with less cursing Good beats. I think this has been sampled quite a bit Snaps for the protest songs I'm used to such higher speed rap now, the slower cadence is weird for me I appreciate the wit and humor behind this. The amount of cursing definitely impacted my enjoyment of the album

War by U2
Jun 03 2026

I'm a sucker for catchy guitar riffs. It's a good protest album It feels both modern and retro I enjoyed listening to this.

Scum by Napalm Death
Jun 04 2026

I'm in on track 5 and didn't realize it until I checked. It kinda sounds like the band just recorded a jam session and determined there were different songs based on when they needed a break. I'm having a hard time getting a clear story here. A lot of them seem like great ideas for songs that need some polish. Spotify says this has actually lyrics. I don't hear the words Spotify says are being said. I would like this more if I could understand what is being said

Call of the Valley by Shivkumar Sharma
Jun 05 2026

I enjoy instrumental albums, so I'm going to guess my rating will be higher than the global These are some talented musicians I simultaneously feel zen and like I want to dance I'm not a fan of 20 minute songs I enjoyed this recommendation, will definitely go on my focus playlist

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jun 06 2026

Solid fun beats Not for me. I can appreciate the talent and it was fine having it on in the background for a while

American Idiot by Green Day
Jun 07 2026

This is a classic for my generation. I have listened to the musical as well. Love the instruments, super catchy songs I really like Green Day and there are several iconic songs on this album

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Jun 08 2026

Their band seems to have fun playing together Good guitar and harmonies I like this style of music Very retro vibes. Several tracks (Amy) would fit in pretty well in the 60s. Also very country at times, bluegrassy (Bartering Lines, Call Me on Your Way Back Home). Ok, this is definitely country, except with more cursing I enjoyed it

Jun 09 2026

This sounds way more modern than the 80s to me. I enjoyed it and there are several songs I added to my liked list. I preferred War overall as an album.

High Violet by The National
Jun 10 2026

Very chill start. I like their sound Initial reaction - their songs are all kinda sounding the same. I don't mind having it on in the background, but there haven't been any standout tracks so far. Amending my comment - the lead sings just about every song the same. The instrumentation does change. I can respect having a very specific, consistent sound. You get what you came for.

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
Jun 11 2026

I liked a couple of their songs, but some of the language definitely puts me off. Great lead vocalist Reminiscent of Halestorm at times

The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk
Jun 12 2026

This feels older than it is, very 70s vibes to me I like their addition of orchestral elements The first song was strong for me because it had unexpected elements. The rest of them started sounding really really similar.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jun 13 2026

This is such a fun, high energy opener Definitely kept hearing "Odysseus Girl" instead of "This Year's Girl" which made for very weird listening Pump it up has really fun music. I enjoyed this quite a bit!

Dust by Screaming Trees
Jun 14 2026

The vocals and music clash a little. Not quite out of tune, but off The disconnect definitely got better. Interesting choice for a first track Slight discordance seems to be their happy place Gospel Plow was cool.

Felt Mountain by Goldfrapp
Jun 15 2026

This was an interesting opener. Not sure what to expect This a moody album, I'm liking it I love the vocals, love the experimental instrumentation. Moody polka 😁 This feels like the soundtrack to someone's fever dream, in the best way possible It ended kind of abruptly. I didn't feel a satisfactory resolution

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jun 16 2026

I like how this starts. Vocally, slight "No Rest for the Wicked" vibes. Love Interruption is super folksy. Didn't expect it from Jack White. I'm enjoying this This is a really cool album. Inspired by lots of different genres to create a really neat sound. Great guitar, fun use of harmonies / supporting vocals I loved this.

Jun 17 2026

Good guitars and drums Nothing special about the vocals Solid rock band, nothing really memorable about this album. I had it on in the background. If it weren't for the audience cheers. I wouldn't have recognized when we were into a new song

The Healer by John Lee Hooker
Jun 18 2026

This is quintessential, solid blues I enjoyed the featured artists on this album

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Jun 19 2026

Started a little slow, but improved quite a bit after Sueno. Definitely didn't think I would enjoy this, but was pleasantly surprised by a few. They have a very 60s sound

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Jun 20 2026

Amazing musicians. The talent is just incredible. Glad this was recorded and popularized. There's a rich history here and such strong nostalgia. This is not an album I would have on repeat all the time, but I will definitely revisit it

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Jun 21 2026

That was a very long intro song. The first 3 minutes seemed unnecessary I was a little bored. Some of the guitar stuff was fun

Jun 22 2026

Ms Aretha Franklin!!!! Powerhouse vocals right off the top. This is a very sexy and empowered album Ended kinda abruptly. I was surprised Overall, great album

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 23 2026

Springsteen has a very distinct voice. Great opening song. Solid album. A few songs I may revisit. Others were very repetitive

Signing Off by UB40
Jun 24 2026

Very beachy album Is this a protest album? Songs starting to sound the same. Lyrically, very interesting. Strange Fruit is haunting, lyrically, but musically, decently upbeat. Definitely an interesting album.

The White Album by Beatles
Jun 25 2026

The Beatles have some weird, experimental songs! I think I prefer some covers over the original (ie While My Guitar Gently Weeps) I really like their bluesy songs Conflicted because some of my all time favorites are on here. Yet there's some stuff on here that I'm just not into.

Jun 26 2026

This is so joyful. I keep dancing along. Feels a little retro My French (and Portuguese ?) is not great. So unfortunately, I can't appreciate the lyrics. Great vocals, good beats, will definitely revisit. It was nice having it on at work to vibe to, but not have it be super distracting

Jun 27 2026

The nostalgia is strong with this one They seemed to have been deeply inspired by the 60s and the Beatles They have some catchy melodies and are not afraid to experiment. Time to Pretend, Kids, and 4th Dimensional Transition are great. Lead vocals remind me of 21 Pilots

Tical by Method Man
Jun 28 2026

I enjoy his lyricism and musical playfulness. I would soooo enjoy a radio edit version. A lot of the cursing detracts from my enjoyment

Very by Pet Shop Boys
Jun 29 2026
Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Jun 30 2026

Building steam with a grain of salt is a solid instrumental track This is a good album to have on in the background. Lots of instrumental portions. Solid. I didn't mind having it on. Unsure if I'll revisit.

You're Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr.
Jul 01 2026

If the artist set out to create a sound that was unique, unsettling, and uncanny, they succeeded. At times it seemed like they added a layer called "chorus of the damned". I was relieved when this was over.

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Jul 06 2026

I get nervous when the singer sounds out of tune. Thankfully, it got better! Easy listening, very folksy. Some activist songs here. I like "I have no Time" and "do you hear me now?" Very mellow, even during the more passionate songs

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Jul 07 2026
Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Jul 08 2026

I am biased here, because this album has some of my favorite songs. This is my first time listening to the whole album though. Solid album flow This sounds like the 80s in the best way Started strong, but ending was not as impressive

Jul 09 2026

This is GREAT study music This was fun, will revisit Don't quite understand what the story was, but it made for great focus noise

Make Yourself by Incubus
Jul 10 2026

Solid album. Enjoyed it, but not real standouts or anything groundbreaking

21 by Adele
Jul 11 2026

I know every song and have listened to this on repeat. This is one of the few CDs I actually own. To me, this album is perfect with absolute magic on every track.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Jul 12 2026

I will listen to more Miles Davis, but probably not this album. 18 minute tracks are a bit excessive. There are bits of the track that I really enjoyed - if it was broken up a bit more I would probably revisit. This would have been amazing live, but does not translate as well to an album

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Jul 13 2026

Protest album! It's amazing how much of this is still relevant. This is more spoken word poetry than hip hop.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 14 2026

This was interesting. Some of it was very much what I expected from the little I knew of Simon and Garfunkel (guitar driven, mellow, sweet harmonies). Some of it was a lot more experimental! There were very weird lyrics. I was entertained.

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Jul 15 2026

This feels like a Simon and Garfunkel tribute album at times A lot of this album would fit in well at a ren faire Definitely have to be in a certain mood to enjoy this Guitars are fun Some songs got bluesy! I enjoyed those. I don't know why Sally was repeated so many times

I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Jul 16 2026

Lots of vibrato. I'm really hoping it doesn't get overused. Ok, this is growing on me. Man's the Baby was a good track, musically very beautiful This is pleasant, easy listening. Haunting at times. Not a strong start but got significantly better after the first song. Will revisit.

Nowhere by Ride
Jul 17 2026

I like their sound Their first 6 songs sounded very similar, so paralyzed was a welcome break Easy listening. Don't mind it, probably wouldn't listen to the full album again.

Bossanova by Pixies
Jul 18 2026

I enjoyed this! Interesting sound, will revisit

Jul 19 2026

I really enjoyed several songs. The lyrics were clever and the beat was catchy. There were other songs that made me extremely uncomfortable because of how explicit they were, which affected my rating. If I had listened to some sort of radio edit, I probably would have rated this higher, but may have lost out on some really clever wordplay

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Jul 21 2026

I'm so not a fan of 20 minute tracks. That being said, Jarrett is a talented pianist. I'm not sure why this is included in albums I need to listen to before I die- it was pleasant to listen to, but there was nothing groundbreaking.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jul 22 2026

Enjoyed it generally! I think they have some better stuff, but I didn't mind anything on this album

Jul 23 2026

It's fine, just not really what I'm into Feels like a precursor to ska somehow Listen was good. I liked the vocals and the instrumentation was fun Overall, just felt really long with not too many standouts

Dog Man Star by Suede
Jul 24 2026

I liked introducing the band. They kinda sound like the cranberries at times The 2 of Us was pretty Not many standouts after the intro, but solid album.

Jul 25 2026

This is a fun album right from the start! This was fun. Very soulful at times, great instrumentation

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
Jul 27 2026

I could not get past the cursing. Definitely fun beats and if I didn't understand, I would rate this higher

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jul 28 2026

Fun beats! Like the female vocals. The rapping style feels very 80s I like 5 man army. The reggae call backs work really well

Achtung Baby by U2
Jul 29 2026

Solid, but I like their War album so much better.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Aug 01 2026
Aug 02 2026

Overall, pleasant to listen to. DJED was an interesting track. Parts of it were really cool. Why do artists insist on 20 minute tracks?! Thought my headphones were failing at one point.

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Aug 03 2026

Easy to listen to, no standout tracks for me

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Aug 04 2026

This is one of the best guitar albums I've heard. I like the mix of more classic guitar rock sounds and some more experimental sounds

25 by Adele
Aug 05 2026

One of my ultimate favorite albums. It's great to belt at the top of your lungs Adele's voice is incredible

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Aug 06 2026

I really like the music. I'm struggling with some of the vocal choices Suzanne Vega makes

Aug 07 2026

Great guitar!!!!!!!! Fun album, found a few new favorites

Diamond Life by Sade
Aug 08 2026

Sade is a great vocalist. There weren't too many songs I'd revisit

Headquarters by The Monkees
Aug 09 2026

They sound like the 60s. There wasn't much that was unique. I didn't mind having them on, but probably wouldn't seek them out.

Songs The Lord Taught Us by The Cramps
Aug 10 2026

Guitars are fun. Classic rock sound. To me, nothing super special stood out
