Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Jun 22 2026

First Led Zep album I owned - one of the most interesting in their back catalogue. Varied in tone and instrumentation compared to other albums it has tended to suffer being an 'in-between' album, without some of the blockbuster songs on either II or IV it's nonetheless the Zep album I have listened to the most.

Low by David Bowie
Jun 23 2026

Marks a change from David Bowie the pop/rock star to Bowie as a full on artist and change maker. Two sides to this album - one of great Bowie-esque songs the other full of lush ambient synths and wonderful textures. One of my favourite (maybe favourite?) Bowie albums ever.

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Jun 25 2026

10/10 - one of the best albums of the 1990s - although The Fragile (1999) would be my top pick for best NIN album and one of the top 5 from that decade. Still, TDS remains a classic for its consistency and execution. Brilliant start to finish (ok BFG isn't great). Pulverising, beautiful, abrasive, vulnerable... its all there

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Jun 26 2026

Really solid album, not sure why this Stevie album isn't up there with his others in terms of fame and reputation. Maybe its a bit more of the same but still very good start to finish

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Jun 29 2026

A pretty incredible debut - not 5 stars simply because of the strength of the later albums. What a cover image, and some absolutely killer songs. One or two blues by numbers are standing in the way of it being flawless

American Idiot by Green Day
Jun 30 2026

I can't say its my type of thing but to be fair Green Day made quite an astute come back with this album and in its genre its got snappy songs, some great writing and some astute - if not wholly original - political messaging. In the context of a massive 2004 crossover pop punk record it ticks a lot of boxes

Under Construction by Missy Elliott
Jul 01 2026

I'd say a 3 to a 4. Really solid album, with some of her biggest hits. A bit samey in places but doesn't drag would like to have the ability to give .5s on this thing!

Jul 02 2026

A very nice album, focuses more on well orchestrated and tastefully put together songs than on some of the hard edges and experimental bent of the SMOG records and those weird song structures that both make those exciting and frustrating. Think I prefer exciting and frustrating although this record probably a better entry gate into Callahan's wider work.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jul 06 2026

Amazing

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Jul 07 2026

If this were a personal rating I would give 3 starts just because I think the best of the Beatles were ahead of them and these early albums do not resonate so well with me. That said, its undeniably an amazing classic, the songs are great and the deeper cuts even more so. Any Time At All is brilliant.

Rising Above Bedlam by Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
Jul 09 2026

Now fairly dated sounding, but strong songs are able to punch through some of the 80s production techniques. It probably wouldn't be made today - for good reason - but the core songs are good. I'm surprised there aren't more collaborations on it however and the fact that there don't appear to be other named writers credited for their inputs is particularly poor

Shadowland by k.d. lang
Jul 10 2026

No I think this is not my thing

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jul 14 2026

Classic, great singles only reason not a 5 is because later albums were so stellar

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Jul 15 2026

Great album, fantastic songs. Of its time.

The Cars by The Cars
Jul 16 2026

Brilliant, pretty much flawless

NEU! 75 by Neu!
Jul 17 2026

Brilliant album - maybe not quite as visceral and exciting as some other krautrock classics but has an elegant consistency that gives it a start-to-finish quality

Who's Next by The Who
Jul 20 2026

Brilliant album - would prefer to give it a 4.5 rather than a 4. Only reason not a 5 is the songwriting not always 100%. The tunes, however, fantastic.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jul 21 2026

A really defining album from the grunge era - quite different from their peers - great songwriting... Just have always struggled to bond with AIC in the same way as Soundgarden, PJ, Nirvana et al. Given it a 4 but its more of a 3.75

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Jul 24 2026

There are much more engaging Miles Davis records

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Jul 27 2026

Nice album not sure its a critical one

Heroes by David Bowie
Jul 28 2026

Really fantastic album. Not quite as good as Low but still a really solid record is more like a 4.5

Tapestry by Carole King
Jul 29 2026

I know its a classic. I don't really like it.

Jul 30 2026

Like many Lana records a strong few songs to start off, dissipating into a slower second half, some duets to keep things interesting that dont necessarily land

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Jul 31 2026

Great AOR album. Only just over 30mins and none of the songs are overly long... I know Aja is the critics choice but some of those 7min songs really drag. PL on the other hand is snappy, rocky and not too self-indulgent

On The Beach by Neil Young
Aug 03 2026

Desolate, brutal, terrifying and brilliant

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Aug 06 2026

I'm not an Elvis fan

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Aug 11 2026

Good album, not the best that TWOD has done
