Way proggier than I expected. This is not the radio hit that I associate with some of the later Sabbath work. I can definitely see how this inspired subsequent metal genres, as it sounds way ahead of its time.
I mean I get it. But I don’t think I can pick one song apart from the others. This is the kind of jazz that I’ve been told I should like but I just don’t. The intra verse movements are just not very interesting to me, and nothing really jumps out at me. 2/5.

I find this album to be all the bad part of Velvet Underground. It’s like the irritating part of cool. There are parts that are somewhat enjoyable, but overall I am just very annoyed by it. I keep wishing I were listening to something else. 1/5

Somebody to Love is a great song. White Rabbit is obviously iconically. Overall the album has a nice sound, not too many weird parts. I would definitely listen to this over and over again. 4/5
Every song is a certified jam. The smoothness just lets you glide into whatever you are doing as you listen. A hard 4. Probably 4.5.

This is the pinnacle of live jazz. The energy of the crowd really complements the dynamic flow of the music. It is technicality infused with musicality. Often, music like this can turn into wanksmanship and not be listenable. Not the case here, it is entertaining and marvelous at the same time. 5/5.
This album just has the definitive sound of classic rock for me. When I first came to America, I was still hanging on to the typical pop music. The classic rock radio stations gave me a glimpse into a more unique (at that time to me) sound. While it can be seen as boomer music, it truly was a gateway to the more interesting music genres for me. Every song is a hit here, and it’s not hard to see why. The songs here stood the test of time and combine to make an easy 5/5 album.

This is one of those classic albums that really defined the sound of an era. Its influence is easily seen in much of the music that followed. On its own, it’s also endlessly enjoyable. 4/5
This is probably everyone’s preferred Sabbath album, but I prefer the debut. This is a less proggy and more melodic. It’s a lot more polished, just not in the way I enjoy. It’s objectively a good album that I do not find as interesting. 3/5
I could see how I never heard of their other songs. They were just not very remarkable. Bitter Sweet Symphony is obviously a timeless classic but everything else is kind of forgettable. 2/5.
I can see how the Boss became the Boss. There’s an undeniable energy in most of the songs on this album. A great blend of listen ability and underlying energy. 4/5
As a fairly big Bjork fan, I could not get through this album. What attracted me to Bjork were the sonic short stories in her older work, as they sound interesting and can be appreciated in bursts. This album expands the songs into 8 minutes prog slops. Quirky melodies could be great in 2 minutes, but when you have to spend 7 minutes to get to the point, it’s much less enjoyable. Mouth Mantra is a good exception. 1/5
This is a really welcome album after a more trying listen the day before. This is the soundscape I associate with high school, which was when I came to the States. It sort of embodies a youthful stress free feeling from that time. It’s just a delightful listen. 4/5
I just never got into funk. I’m sure it’s good if you like this kind of music but I just always thought it was a bit much. If random were a music genre but it’s also somehow revered. 2/5
I want to like this album more but it’s just kind of ok for me. And I am kind of in the folksy songwriter mood, so I’m not sure why this is not grabbing me. Sometimes you just can’t vibe with an album. 2/5
This is an example of why this experiment is great. I would never have stumbled on this album if not for this. And this album is just delightful. Iceblink Luck feels like it’s a familiar hit, even though I don’t remember ever hearing it. I will definitely return to this album over and over.

It starts with one song, and I think I know why. When I heard crawling on MTV Internet radio in 2000, I was completely blown away. It gave way to type of music that I hadn’t listened to before. Having grown up in a word of pop, this level of raw aggression was bewildering. While it’s quaint now to my calluses metal ears, this album really struck me at that time as a perfect reflection of my teenage angst. Musically, it’s well crafted for what it is. It embodies the early 2000s sound perfectly. I still know the words to most of the songs. This is a bona fide classic from that era. 5/5
I don’t think I feel anyway in particular about this album. It’s pleasantly forgettable, in that I won’t mind it playing in the background. But it’s not exactly getting me to move or feel a certain way.
I don’t want to say this is a one hit wonder, but the other songs just did not leave very strong impressions. It strikes me with a tone that I probably would’ve appreciated in high school, but just don’t resonate with anymore. It’s youthful in a way that doesn’t necessarily appeal to me. Objectively a decent album that I just did not like. 3/5

Pantera has a special place in American metal, being touted as one of the best and most influential bands ever. This album certainly shows their range from Walk to This Love, blending aggression and melody.
However this is not my kind of metal. It actually embodies the type of metal that I don’t enjoy much, one with a little too much bravado. The fandom has a stereotype and they kind of remind you of Phil Ansemi more than Dimeg Darrel. The fact that their fans tend to fly the stars and bars is also telling.
That said, it’s a good album. 3/5
