Cannot go wrong with Nirvana and definitely one of the best albums.
Album is an easy listen and would be good for it's time period, but not something I would listen too regularly.
Album is a great flow from start to finish and the best material Prodigy has put out.
Album is pretty mellow and has a relaxing vibe. It flows well from start to finish.
Everyday People is a classic and a good song. Beyond that this album is just ok.
Jazz is not really my vibe but this album was upbeat and had a great feel to it.

It was an easy listen and reminded me of why I have never been a Beatles fan. For the most part this album is pedestrian and provides nothing special. Definitely not something I would listen to regularly or even again.
Album seemed well put together but for some reason I just could not get into the vocals. His voice seemed as if he was trying way too hard to produce something that was not reachable. I can definitely see why others love it, but I was not one of them and felt it was average at best.
The first song is definitely not a good start to the album. I had not listened to Wilco much but see the band name quite a bit, so I thought man they have to be pretty good. To be honest, I walked away feeling like I had listened to a budget version of Radiohead after several of the songs. The album seemed ok overall and was worth the listen, but I can't say it was one I would probably listen to multiple times.
While Sinead is a great singer and this album is regarded by many as one of their favorite and best albums, I find this album to be just average. It does flow well and has some songs that are better than others but overal I feel it is not an album that will blow someone away.
Solid album with a couple of true classics in Heart of Glass and One Way Or Another. The album overall is a good listen and Deborah Harry's voice is always on point. Would definitely listen to this one again.
The Smiths are highly regarded my many and Morrissey's voice is unmistakable for sure. While I find the Smiths to be but an average alternative band from the early 80s, they do have some good hits and one of them is Big Mouth Strikes Again, which is the best song on the album. The rest of the album is average to me. It is an easy listen but can get monotonous at times.
Talking Heads are the atypical alt pop band from the 70s to 80s. They had some pretty good hits, but unfortunately not many were on the same albums. This album is decent but Pyscho Killer is really the only good song.
I had no idea who Scott Walked was and even after reading his Wiki along with that of his original group, I still wondered how he made the list. This album was dull and seemed repetitive. It was hard at times to even know whether it had moved from song to song. Definitely would not give this a second listen.
The Who are an iconic band that most people have heard of and they have songs that are easily recognizable. However, this album is average at best and does not contain any of their big hits. It is an easy listen and flows well.
One of the greatest albums of all time. The flow of music is perfect between the vocals from Linsay, Christine and of course the one and only Stevie, who is recognizable even today. The vibe from this album will make any day better. This is an album I listen to regularly and always enjoy.
I am not a Jazz person but I know of Coltrane and this album seemed well put together and definitely showed his skill as a sax player. I was between giving it 3 or 4 stars and leaned more towards a high ranking.
In a time when alternative rock was booming with new bands and tons of new sounds, Linkin Park was able to set themselves apart from most with their debut album. This album is full of great hits that are still better than most of what is produced today, 26 years later. I won't say every track is a banger, but there are several and it shows. Album is solid front to back and never gets old.
Album was a good listen. There were a few hits on it as well as other good songs, overall it is an easy listen and flows pretty well. It gets 4 stars since I think it is better than just your average 70's rock album.
Dolly is a country music Legend and an Icon. She was a genuinely great singer and an even better human being, this world lost one of the greatest that has ever done it. This album is full of some good storytelling and some great vocals. Growing up my parents listened to country and I ended up listening to a lot of it as well despite my dislike for country music. Dolly has made a ton of music and has more hits than most artists. This album though is not a show stopper, it has a good feel and flow, but it is not the best Dolly has produced.
Dylan is a good songwriter, but good singer is debatable for sure. This album shows that point. Dylan has never been a favorite of mine bu I can appreciate his music for what it is. This album is a decent listen but some of the songs definitely drag out the time and could have been shorter.
Abbey Road was my second Beatles album on the list and is definitely a better album overall than Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It still comes with a caviat that the Beatles make average music, plain and simple. I just cannot put them on the pedestal that some do. The song writing is good not great and at times seems like a very far reach for something more. This album is one that is easy to listen to but also easy to get crowded into the background and ignored.
The Pixies are definitely one of the original alternative bands that influenced a ton of other artists, bands and music genres even. For those of you saying this album is all over the place and the screaming is too much, well welcome to Alternative Rock. I won't say this album is the best that has ever been but it is a very good album front to back. Things that set it apart is the fact that some songs are driven off the lyrics and vocals, where others are purely the instruments pushing the envelope. Album gets a sold 4 from me and I have listened to it many times and will continue to when the need arises.
I had heard the name Muddy Waters many times and knew he was known for the Blues, yet I had never listened to an entire album or paid much attention. After listening to this album I realized that I had heard a couple of his songs before. Even through Blues is not my style of music, I found this album to be entertaining and worth the listen and can see why he has influenced many other artists.
This album most definitely started with the best track but that does not mean it was the only good song. There were other songs but overall this album was just average to me. A-ha does show up on classic alternative and classic pop stations/playlists and they are an easy listen. The album flowed well and was enjoyable, not sure I would throw it into a regular rotation of music, but I would give it another listen for sure.
I have heard songs from Lupe Fiasco here and there over the years and some were good while others were just meh or outright terrible. I would say this entire album lies right in the middle as well. Nothing great to write home about for sure. At times, there were good beats and flows in teh lyrics but overall this album was pedestrian. I am being generous and giving it three stars as that would make it 6/10 and really it was only about a 4 or 5/10.
This album by the Pogues was entertaining for sure. It had some good songs as well as some that could have been skipped and would not have been missed. It definitely had a range of ups and downs and was a decent listen. I gave it three stars as it was about average or a little better to me, but wasn't good enough to earn 4 stars.
Album was smooth and a great listen. There was strong guitars and would have made for a very heavy album in 1970. The drumming was also on point and very good at times. This may have been the first Deep Purple album I had listened to from front to back and it was pretty good all the way through. I would give it 7/10 overall and decided to be nice and upgrade that from a 3.5/5 to a 4. I would give it another listen.
I don't speak or know any French, but this album was quite enjoyable. It had great beats and his flow was smooth. Even not knowing French, I felt like it was something I could see myself listening to again. When you listen to this album, just kick back and enjoy the ride!
Marvin Gaye, a legend of soul music with a soft buttery voice that even through the decades is still one of the most well known and part of that is due to the title track on this album. This album is all about one thing and we all know what that is. I mean come on it starts with Let's Get It On and three tracks later, Marvin makes sure you know by adding in a follow up track in Keep Gettin' It On. This album is a classic and is great all the way through.
The Eagles are… well the Eagles and if you like country rock of the 70s, then you are probably a big fan. Seems with the Eagles, people either love them or hate them and have pretty strong feelings for why. I on the other hand, feel they were a talented band and put out many hits that are well known and can be heard almost daily somewhere around this earth, but I don't put them up there as one of the greatest ever. I think most of their albums have some hits but are not loaded with all hits. This album to me is an easy enough listen and definitely has some good songs while others are just average. Album get a solid 3 from me as I don't feel it is good enough overall for a 4.
Public Enemy was definitely a group I grew up listening to and I have heard this album several times. I will say just as I always felt, it is a decent album, but far from great and not even the best for Public Enemy. There are some absolute bangers on this album in Can't Truss It, Bring the Noize and Shut Em Down, the rest of the album is just ok and can even get annoying at times. 3 stars is all this album deserves.
The was the first time I had heard of the Streets and I can see why now. The flow of this album is awkward and with very slow delivery on the lyrics. Most songs are just repetitive nonsense of the same statements of sitting on a couch and smoking weed. I mean it is the same theme plenty of rappers and hip-hop artists have made millions from, but they at least make sure it is worth listening to. Whether this album was supposed to be a story or not, it missed the mark terribly. I was being generous giving this album 2 stars.
The Sex Pistols are a good punk band for their time. Their songs can be repetitive and boring at times for sure. I feel like this album is average at best, yes there are songs that are great but not most of them on this album. To some it is a classic and they rave about it but I am not one of those people.
Second day in a row I was handed a 70s punk album. While I am not avid listener of punk, I do listen to it on occasion. I had not really listened to the Damned before and knew very little about them. My expectation for this album was pretty low and I would say it was better than I expected. Good enough I would most likely listen to it again. I would give the album a solid 7/10 but not an 8/10, so it will be a 3 from me.
I read several other reviews that mentioned quiet and boring and I would agree at times that is the best way to describe this album. I had heard Sweet Jane and Walking After Midnight prior and knew what I was getting into. The subdued vocals and tone of the album is exactly what I think they were going for. I won't say I loved this album, but it was a good listen and was relaxing. Overall I would give the album 5/10, which means it will get a 2, really wish they would have made the scale out of 10 rather than 5.
While I had not heard of the Cocteau Twins, I was intrigued after reading their Wiki write up. I have to say listening to this album it was definitely difficult to understand the lyrics for the most part. But at the same time the flow of the songs were enjoyable. For me the album was something that I can see people really loving or hating, I was in the middle and gave it 3 stars.
First Creedence album and it could not have come at a more needed time. I mean anytime is a good time to spin some CCR. They are one of the greatest American Rock bands of all time. The raspy sound of Fogerty's voice and the sound of that southern rock twang can make any day better. I have loved Creedence since I first heard them as a child with my Mother and they have never let me down. Their sound is so recognizable and the number of hits they produced in such a short time is amazing. This album gets 5 stars no doubt, this album alone has more hits than most bands have in a career.
This album came out the year I graduated from high school and I remember it being a staple album that was spun up on the regular no matter where I was. The mix of Lauryn, Wyclef and Pras works perfectly throughout every song on this album. I have listened to it more times than I care to admit and even today it is solid from start to finish. Definite 5 stars for this album, it is a classic and needs to be heard at least once.
I have heard Herbie a few times and he is a master at what he does. Unfortunately, what he does is not exactly a fan favorite for me. This album was smooth and flowed well. It was an easy listen and the 40 minutes went by rather quickly. I would give it 7/10 and that means it will be getting a 3 from me.
Lou is a storyteller and with most his voice is very pedestrian and dull. I felt most of this album could have faded into the background and I would not have even noticed the change. There were a couple of good hits on this album but most of it was forgettable for sure. I saw someone else that mentioned Perfect Day and that they thought the cover by Duran Duran was better and I would agree with one caveat, even with their rendition being better it is still a boring song and you can only do so much to make it better. I was able to get through the album and would give it a solid 6/10, so 3 stars is what it gets.
Wow! This album had quite the variety with some reggae and then onto soul and even a little funk mixed in. All in all the album was decent but also a bit strange in how it was all put together. Some songs seemed very well assembled while other seems very disjointed and bad. It gets a solid 2 from me.
It was a decent enough punk album for being nearly 50 years old. It was short and didn't drag along. Not one of the better punk albums I have heard but it also wasn't absolute trash. I would rate it at 6/10, so 3 stars it gets.
Have only really heard songs from Siouxsie And The Banshees here and there. This was my first time listening to an entire album from start to finish and I thought it was pretty solid. Album was well assembled with the opening track being a great start and then flowing through to the end. I would definitely give this album another listen and decided it was a solid 8/10. This album gets 4 stars.
Stevie has had a long and successful career making music. This album had a couple of hits on it but not enough to give it more than an average rating. The album was an easy and decent listen, but not something I would recommend as a needed listen. It gets 3 stars from me.
Album started with what sounded like it was going to be a good hard rock song and slowly transitioned into more of a soft rock song. Wasn't bad but it unfortunately set the tone for the rest of the album to be rather boring. The mix of piano and flute into this album was a surprise and fit well. I would say the album was a solid 6/10 as it was a decent listen but there was nothing to draw me into wanting more. It gets 3 stars from me.
I kept waiting for the albums this week to get better and this was not it. I am not even sure where to start with this album. First off, had I not known ahead of time that it was from 1997, I would have guessed it was from the late 70s to early 80s, which in this case was not a good thing. The lyrics and vocals were all over the place. I am being generous and giving it 2 stars as it is not the worst I have heard, but it was definitely below average.
Willie doing an album of cover songs, I mean he is close to Johnny Cash in terms of being able to sing just about anything. This album was smooth and an easy listen. Willie did right on several big hits and it was worth listening to. But given it was just cover songs and not what I was really expecting from Willie, it gets 3 stars from me.
Pure disco of the late 70s. Album was decent but nothing spectacular beyond the lead track Good Times, which has been sampled more than a cheese tray at a wine bar. The rest of the album is average and most will not even recognize it. I was generous and gave it 3 stars mostly because Good Times deserves it on it's own.
I have to say this album was pretty good but the voice of Smith definitely takes away from how much better this album could actually be. At times, his voice actually made me want to turn it off, but I powered through. I commend the rest of the band as they did a great job and at times make Smith's voice much more tolerable. Overall though this album sits as an average listen and nothing more, so 3 stars it gets.
Ms. Vaughan most definitely has a great singing voice and can hit a huge range with her vocals and that is seen through these songs. Big Band is not my sort of jam by any means but I can recognize the talent she had and the reason for the listen of this album. The live recording gave it some extra nostalgia for sure. I gave it a solid 6/10 and so 3 stars it is.
